That was most likely the most positive I've ever heard Tim Dagget speak about anyone . Good to give respect where it's deserved................I still can't stand him though he needs to retire & let some younger blood come in he's bitter
Who would have thought after this amazing routine, she has been performing at this level for nearly 20 more years. I'm just in awe. Truly. So much respect for this amazing athlete and she does it because she loves it. I wish Tokyo Olympics broadcast would do a very large homage to her as it more than likely will be her retirement swan song. No one compares.
Oksana we love you and are proud of you. Thank you so much for dedicating your life to sports for your country. We wish you a long life and always be happy.
Actually when she made her senior debut in 1990 artistry was a great strength of hers - ua-cam.com/video/57YFJIR6NWQ/v-deo.html Where it went after this however,, I have no idea.
@@MD-722 Lol you always know where to find the good stuff. I'm guessing that after the break up of the USSR and its highly polished gymnastics machine, that there was no longer as much emphasis on artistry in her training
I love that first pass. That split leg layout is one of my favourite moves and I wish we saw more of it. There's another one I like, too, but I don't know what it's called. I think we last saw it in the late 80s/early 90s.
This woman is pure magic. She makes me want to see older age groups in the Olympics -- competitions for the 30+, 40+, and why not 50+ as well! I have no doubt there are still people like her who would be capable of amazing things worth celebrating on the world stage. I feel like we're cheated of seeing that in a way.
Yeah, it had to be the turns, because I could only take a tenth off for the tumbling (hop after the first pass). The turns were pretty bad. She hopped through half of each. Still, 7 tenths deduction for hopping on two turns is kind of a bit much.
@@lvega5606 It's not just the deductions for the turns though. Not completing the turns properly would have significantly decreased her start value. This routine probably only started from a 9.7
totally under scored there is no reason why she shouldn't have moved in2 1st place she had all the difficulty>esp at that time with the code of points. Who splits their legs on a double layout slowing down momentum to do a punch front? I saw her team mate tatiana gutsu do that in 92' with no punch front & she was short both times....................I hope Oksana makes it to next olympics & gets a medal
“Its 2002 and she has being doing it for a long time, was a champion in 1991.” It’s 2019 now and she is still doing it, pal. What a powerhouse.
she just retired last night after her vault exercise .. was a moving experience to watch ..
@@2008alberta She's since come out of retirement, won 2 golds and silver at the World Cups and has officially confirmed continuing until 2024!
2024 aiming for another Olympic s
2002: "She's been doing this a long, long time!"
2019: "..........🤯..."
Make that 2021. Wow
Oh my GOD first pass. Praise the Lord for this woman
Living for the leo and the first pass. ICONIC
Absolutely
actually the leo is a wink to UNIFIED TEAM trademark one at Barcelona 1992 :3
It's funny to hear them say she's been doing it a long time-I wonder if they'd believe it if you told them she'd still be at it over a decade later!
cj222100 almost two decades!

Wrong......I got 9.825 after deductions. Maybe 9.70 c'om

Here in 2022 and in awe that this icon is STILL going strong in gymnastics!❤️❤️❤️

Form and artistry have never been her strength, but her longevity in the sport is off the charts.

Her form is rly good
HOLY CRAP that first tumbling pass!!! ZOMG amazing
The way she doesnt grab her legs on the full twisting double (I know the twist comes later!) is so cool. Shows tremendous power and control

That second pass was picture perfect! Floated through the air to a soft landing.

LEGEND
So is the split leg double lay officially called the Gutsu?
come on Tokyo Olympics.
Phenomenal...!
RESPECT
The current perky bangs (2019) suit her much better than that bob style back then (2002). The current upgraded badass Chuso is much better now!
That's not a bob though.
Deserved a way higher score, even in this code. If that had been Carly Patterson it would have scored 9.6
No, just a split leg double layout. Not named after anyone.
Does anyone know the name of her floor music?
love her leotard
It is called a Gutsu.
I don’t think it’s underscored, I think her SV wasn’t a 10 because she didn’t complete her turns and took deductions. Tumbling was great though

What was her score
Ethan Krupp 9.162 I believe
Edit: 9.187
