The Super Guppy flew for the first time almost 60 years ago, and it's quite amazing that NASA managed to keep that one in service.
Always good to know that B-29s have been in constant or near constant operation for 80 yeara.
love how the cameraman is laughing at the super guppy. That, the dreamlifter, beluga, and the recently destroyed Mryia hold a very special place in my heart
Haha not us, someone next to us!
@@AirshowStuffVideos did I hear "Haha, it just looks so dumb!" 😂

The Super Guppy seems to have a very interesting landing attitude.. It appeared that the nose gear touched down first. Anyone know if that's normal for that plane?
Noticed that too. Counter to everything I’ve learned/practice about landing. But it is the guppy so…
i mean any more than maybe 8 degrees of AOA looks like a tail strike to me. Probably playing it safe. Flares are probably prohibited, Just guessing i have no clue.
It is normal for that plane.
Flying into El Paso often I am blessed to see the Super Guppy more than most! It is a wonderful aircraft.
Does the Super Guppy typically land nose wheel first?
Yes it does, sometimes it bounces the mains a couple times with the nose still on the ground.
@@therileyobrien After spending an entire career avoiding that, it gave me angst to watch it! Ha!
Air show stuff never disappointed me people who agree
👇
*me. People who agree:
When I lived in Houston, we used to see the Guppy(when it still had radial engines) and later the Super Guppy after the refit come in quite often as it was the mid point between Cali and Florida. Say the SST with and without the shuttle more than once as well. It was always so cool to see it make its approach into Ellington Field as our house was directly on the approach path for the Field.
That was an impressive short field landing by the Dreamlifter. It must have a fairly low all-up weight when it's full of a cargo of air
Haha it’s funny that the supper guppy has stubby wings but can still fly like an absolute angel in the skies
I'm not at Oshkosh, always been a dream of mine to go, Whenever I see the Oshkosh highlights from this channel, it really feels like I'm getting a great clear picture of the Aircraft and an up close look at the landings, Takeoffs, Maneuvers, and fly overs from the front row on my couch!
It would be so fun to be able to bring Orville and Wilbur Wright to the future to see what became of their legacy.. with a stiff drink of course.
I wrote a short story about just that thing, back in high school.
Also, *Orville.
@@johnpooky84 Cool! - and corrected, thanks.
I mean Orville did get a chance to fly in the Lockheed Constellation before his death, and that qas barely 37 yeara after their first flights at Kitty Hawk. So he would have seen the birth of jets...
Thanks For Sharing That! Would Never See Anything Like It, Otherwise. I Envy Those Fortunate Enough To Be There. Thank You.
Nose gear touchdown first?
0:15 - The Coneheads' private plane arrives - from France! LOL.. Woah!! 52nd subscriber LIKE; 253rd desktop studio view. How cool is that?!
Super guppy trying to land :😐
The c-47 in front of it :🗿
It doesn't look dumb it looks fucking awesome. This guy has no idea what he got to witness.
So weird how The Super Guppy landed nose wheel first
I was there a little bit closer to Boeing plaza then relived I wanted to see it go into the plaza then booked it all the way there was definitely worth it
Is the super guppy supposed to land on the nose gear?
That's how you know it traces its lineage back to the B-29.
I hope it’s not built/maintained by Boeing.
Boeing was once reliable.
This looks like the Zeppelin & C130 combined.
Astonishing.
Boeing Dreamlifter: Modified Boeing 747 Cargo
Boeing Super Guppy: Airbus beluga (boeing edition)
This is going to be an awesome show. Can’t wait for tomorrow
The Super Guppy was first used by Airbus when the A300 was introduced then replaced years later by the Beluga which now carries Aircraft parts to Airbus final assembly halls in Toulouse, France for the A330/A350/A380, for the A320 family in Hamburg Finkenwerder, Germany/ Tianjin, China and Mobile, Alabama, USA.
Makes ya wonder how the Supper guppy can fly but fly it does. Thanks for posting. Safe travels. Ken.
Just imagine how slow that thing would be able to fly if it was filled with helium.
I'd love to know what that Guppy's like to handle in a crosswind. It must have the windage area of a three deck man of war
Excellent. Used to see the Aeromaritime Guppies in Manchester on a regular basis back in the 70's collecting Airbus wings made in Hawarden.
Super Guppy is my favorite! I see that beast every time I visit El Paso and NASA T-38s
Curious how much jet fuel and avgas are used over the week and how it gets to Oshkosh?
( I don’t care about emissions, just generally curious)
I grew up ,live in so cal,my father was an aerospace worker and was fortunate to see all type ww2 and modern aircracft, but seeing guppies fly over were memorable to this day ,except in the 60s had different engines and were very slow lol thank you
alot of big brain coming in today lol
The super guppy sounds like a P-3 with those Alison 501 turboprops
A-10 is ugly and beautiful at the same time, the guppy is just on another level.
Looking forward to this one!
I was sitting in the campsite when they came in, awesome to see them in person
Does the super guppy always touch down nose wheels first?
Touchdown of the nose wheel first is asking for trouble.
Did they have to land on the purple dot?
AS, next year would you set up your cameras away from the old school camera's, some of us would like to hear the planes landing not a bunch of machine gun clicking on EVERY video :(.
When all of your friends are photographers, you get clicks. Oshkosh would be nothing without friends!
Caution wake turbluence!
WOW! Now there's something you don't see every day...amazing. Thanks for the vid.
I'm waiting to see a hundred minions get off the plane 😂.
In all seriousness, this airplane is amazing to watch. ❤❤❤
Great video as usual!
Nose gear landing!?
Awesome as always!
Rớt tuyệt vời anh trai ơi like 👍😍😍👏
🎉🎉
Inside every Super Guppy there's a Superfortress trying to get out.
This is my first year! taking it light, only going saturday with my family but plan to go all week next year with my friends!
Next year will be my first!!
Wear big floppy hats that have attachments to cover the back of your neck. Extremely comfortable shoes. You will walk for miles, and you'll get fried.. but there is nothing like it on earth. Make reservations for next year to fly on the tri-motor Fords. They are already sold out by the time the show starts. Wisconsin is very beautiful in this area, and the people are great. One of the best things about the show is sitting on the runway, and watching all the landings. There will be groups that have signs (1-10) to rate the landings like an Olympic event, which is hilarious. You can go for years, and there is always something new or unseen.
Try to avoid the weekend next year.
Still lots to see but with smaller crowds.
0:41 DC 3?
I worked CL44's and 747 both great planes and now together with a 747 swing tail.
I’m based here in houston where the guppy is based. Pretty neat they took it to Oshkosh!
Kelsey...
I saw the guppy yesterday from Houston
That was an iffy Guppy landing.
Been seeing videos on tiktok!!! One day I will get to osh
👍
A School of Guppies..
I can fly!
“It just looks so dumb” best start to a video ever
@02:40 nice Mooney
Best viewing spots?
Nose first. 😍
That was so cool.
Awesome, I will get to see it tomorrow!
The super guppy touched nose first… is that standard for that plane?
Yes
What? They didn’t land in tandem? Not impressed.
Doesn't seem like it would Carry much weight since there's only a single set of tires. Just sayin'
That is correct, it was built to transport empty rocket parts.
Nose gear touched down first on the guppy
Normal for that aircraft.
Fake
Evidence to support that claim?
🤨?
Google is your friend.
I'm recently typed on the 747-400, and my company flies the dreamlifter! Can't wait to get a chance for my first flight on it
Can you believe that guppy pilot landed on the nose gear first , Really? just kidding
