  • In this video I review a 2013 Mazda 3 Touring which is the 2nd generation model of this compact car, sold from the 2010 to 2013 model year. The Mazda 3 is available in a four door sedan or five door hatchback configuration and includes the i sv, i sport, i touring, i grand touring, s touring, s grand touring and Speed3 trim packages. This review includes a full walkaround, test drive, technical specs and a test drive.
Thanks to Wholesale Auto Connection for the use of this Mazda3!

My all time favorite Mazda 3 is the 2004 grand touring hatchback with the Rx-8 style leather sport seats and a 5-speed manual. Even though it might not be the fastest car in the world, imo it’s still my all time favorite 5 door hatch ever made.

Honestly it's one of the best looking cars I've ever seen. If you look at it, its just designed so well. Beautiful proportions, distinct lines, timeless even. I owned an '08 and miss it.

Just bought a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback because the transmission in my 2010 ford focus crapped out on me . Mazda did a awesome job with the build quality in this car and I can say it's way better than my focus in every way and it looks better .

Just bought a 20123i touring. Last night was only the 2nd time I drove it and noticed the window with avg fuel economy and other set ups was fading out. I tried to find info on that issue but not really much out there except for a person saying that theirs did that when heat was on, and my heat was on. Anyone know a fix for that issue?????

My parents own a 2.5L Hatchback 3, the only real issues we've had is the transmission control module (TCM) going out, rear shock mount breaking and honestly yeah thats all. 160,000 km is the mileage.

Most newer vehicles are direct injection. I myself am not a big fan of them, due to the carbon build up concerns around the intake valves. But my 2010 Mazda 3 has 190K miles on it as I write this, and is running like new. It is not skyactiv, but it is still a GDI (aka a Mazda DISI engine). The previous gen Mazda 3s (1st gen) are mostly port injected (I believe the speed3 aka mps is direct injection).

I bought mine with around 145K miles on the clock. It is now at 190K almost 5 years later, and is still running beautifully! The only issue with it is, that it burns oil now (not an issue as long as I keep an eye on the dipstick and top up as needed, which is not too much). I also drive the car at high revs on the highway once a week to burn off carbon deposits, since it is a direct injection engine.

Seems like a lot of folks are sleeping on these cars. I need to go find me a Mazda3 with that Skyactiv engine since my stupid employer decided to move the office 25 miles from home. That's 25 miles through crappy DFW traffic when it was just 5 miles before and I didn't have to get on the freeway. Love my Jeep but it guzzles gas.

I have this car - 2013 Sedan. It's great. Not the skyactive model with push to start button but everything else lines up. Seeing that parking brake (not emergency brake!) down triggered me. Relying on your transmission to keep your car immobile is going to wreak havoc on the parking pawl (pin). I guess it's a North American thing?

I have a 2010 2.0 sport petrol (gasoline). 190K miles at present and not a single repair. The only minor 'issue' with it now, is that it burns oil, but I just keep an eye on that dipstick every week and top up as needed. Being a direct injection engine, I make sure to drive it at high revs on the highway around once a week (around 5K rpm) for about 15-30 mins, to reduce carbon buildup.

Problem is many being sold have way too many miles for the price, First car I drove was a Honda Civic and very reliable. The year was a good one for Honda (not all). Moving on Consumer reports listing of reliable used cars for every budget has Mazda3 2011-14 in my budget. I have a 2011 Mazda 3 i touring and this is my car. Very grateful.

@@heatherprincipe9972 what do you think of the fuel economy of the 2011 mazda 3? Personally I found it very underwhelming and would not have expected that a compact car would use that much fuel

    • @heatherprincipe9972

It ran great when I test drove from a private seller and did every single time up until I took to a shop for something to do with breaks and maybe possible alignment. I got the car back compromised with it running rough, not starting the same as did , felt every little bump in the road hard from not like that at all. Break issue not fixed. Its a long story. I notice underwhelming gas mileage since then....not before that. Break issue was taken care of from another place.
