I've noticed a lot of UA-camrs make "disclaimers" in their videos. Saying things like "please excuse my hair it's a bit messy" or "please excuse my brows as they're not done". It just shows how critical people are. In their own opinions about others. Everyone's perspective of "attractive" is different. And everyone has the liberty to express themselves in a way that makes them feel like themselves. Not accepted by anyone, which is yes "uncomfortable". However, in a business setting it is appropriate to dress in attire that is appropriate for the environment. It wouldn't be appropriate to wear gym tights to the prom. Neither would it be appropriate to wear "bed head" in a business setting. The environment calls for "professional" attire. So to the person who says they'd rather feel comfortable. They could find appropriate attire that is comfortable for the environment. Or, they could choose a different environment entirely. I agree boundaries are important. And it angers some people when boundaries are set because they lose control over the situation. You being mature and getting your own things. Proves you wanted respect the other party and avoid conflict. But if a person has conflict in them they are not satisfied with you avoiding it. All in all, you can't please everyone and that's ok. Love you!

Thank you for the feedback Monae! I personally wouldn't mind if someone wore tights to the prom because they may have wanted to experience prom but don't enjoy wearing dresses. Most people would consider locs "bedhead" and also consider them unprofessional for the workplace. I think everyone has their own idea of what is appropriate and professional and it can be shifted by societal norms. Thanks for watching and also for the feedback on my living situation.

True!! Natural hair in any state has not entirely been accepted by society. So, although it would be "considered" as bedhead that wouldn't make it so. That is where we'd have to draw lines between facts and opinions. However, any style, or texture in which hair can be generalized as unkept; is what I men by "bedhead". And although some people would accept the person who is wearing "gym clothes" to prom. It does not change the fact that "gym clothes" are designed for the gym. There is a fine line between societal standards and what is appropriate for an occasion regardless of how a person "feels". It is how we show respect for others and not just focus on our comfortability. If we only focused on comfortability and how we feel. Some people would be entirely nude because they didn't feel like wearing anything. Some standards that are given when it comes to attire. Is not always based on society but tradition. And if a person decides to go outside of tradition it could be uncomfortable or offensive to others. This is why we are not only dressing in comfortability but in consideration for others. Especially event wise. On the other hand, this is YT a broad spectrum for entertainment only. So the attire is totally up the person filming and the story they're trying to tell. Thanks for your reply. Can't wait til the next video!

Truthfully, I find being in my natural state when I feel most comfortable, attractive, and free. If somebody decides to look away in disgust or advise me what I should appear like in order for them to accept me, well then that's a them problem not a me problem. I don't seek to nor do I feel I have to adhere to societal beauty standards, but I do have to regularly show myself all the love that I possibly can or else I won't want to appear in society. I appreciate your honesty regarding how you're feeling at any given moment in time and incorporating that feeling into your content. I understand we all have our hang ups regarding our bodies and appearances from time to time, but we should always be gentle with ourselves. Sometimes you may even have to use a daily self affirming mantra or confidence booster.
Here is the one I use: I AM A PRETTY GIRL WITH (INSERT WORD CHOICE), BUT I'M STILL A PRETTY GIRL! 😁
P.S yes I know it's kinda cheesy, but I've been using it since I was a kid. 🤣
