I made this box to deliver my nieces wedding cake. I had to travel 1 and a half hours with the cake. This box was a lifesaver!!! The cake arrived in perfect condition! Thank you so much for this video.
Barbara Greenwell I had a very similar situation. I had to travel just over 2 hours with my nieces Wedding Cake in August Heat. I did have dry ice inside the box. It arrived in perfect condition. Unfortunately they were having the reception at a restaurant who seemed incapable of following simple instructions. They took the cake out of the box and put it on a shelf in a walk in cooler that had opened buckets filled with peeled potatoes and water. By time they put the cake and desserts out at 11:30 ( they were supposed to go out right after dinner) the cake was basically ruined. All the definition in the piping had run. What a waste of time. 😡
Thank you so much for the video! Now I don't have to go to craft stores any more to buy boxes for like $15! This idea saves me money! Thank you much! The cake looks amazing!
dry ice is commonly used in portable ice cream cart to keep ice cream stay frozen for a long time. it is better for rolled fondant cakes because there is no condensation being produced as reach in refrigerator would. Also perfect for those who does not have refrigerator or long distance during hot humid summer seasons delivery system.
wow what a great idea! thankyou! here i was thinking i was going to have to make a box out of wood hahaha. this is so handy! it gets VERY VERY hot here. I hope to God this works for me!
Valerie Townsend I agree. I was gonna ask, btw, how come that dry ice is just put without some sort of guard so it does not touches the cake. thanks for the tip sandwich bags!!
I know dry ice is not toxic, the problem is if you touch it bare hands for a few seconds it can burn your skin. That is why the sandwich bag idea is brilliant so no accidental burns. I dont kow what would happen if it touches the fondant.
Check around at your local grocery stores. I bought some recently at a grocery store for my Chocolate Fudge Cake, filled with Chocolate Mousse and Chocolate Ganache...delivered with Dry Ice in 104 degrees temps and was still Perfect after delivery.
Thanks for watching! You can exclude the dry ice if you would like. It is only necessary if the fillings of the cake need to remain refrigerated. You can continue to reuse the box if you would like. Normally you would not leave it with the customer, because ideally there would be no cake left over to take home. Thanks!
If you would like a less labor intensive option, perhaps you would like to discontinue the endless purchase of disposable cardboard boxes. Transportation is no longer a nail biting experience. The #cakesafe allows you to assemble your tiered cakes in your own shop or kitchen without the time pressure of being at the venue, and having little recourse if something “goes wrong”. When there's a cake failure during transport, there is no Plan B. Preventing just one disaster will make your purchase completely worthwhile! Using the #cakesafe allows you to save a tremendous amount of time and labor cost by completing all the final touches on the cake in-house, because there is no need to assemble your cake on site. The #cakesafe leaves the venue with you; no parts to retrieve later. Its design helps keep your cake at a stable temperature because the sides are made of a twin wall polycarbonate plastic. This is the same material used for greenhouse roofs and it is designed to offer excellent insulation quality. The box is not airtight but it does help retain your cake's temperature, limit condensation, and protect the cake from heat and humidity. So, is your #cakesafe ?
+he Llo If you're a professional cake maker on a two or less person staff, that price works out in the long run when it comes to time and effort and overall safety of the cakes construction.
I got to the first stage of the first box by sealing both ends & then cutting in 3" to get your base. You didnt show what you actually did with the second box to get the flaps you inserted into the box?
I just LOVED this idea. I have a few questions. I will be traveling from Nevada to California for about 5-6 hour drive on a Friday and delivered that following Sat afternoon. The cake will be buttercream/fondant covered but will have Bavarian cream filling. Will this hold up for the traveling and next day delivery if I just get a bigger box for the dry ice? I'm concerned about the filling which is a commercial product. Thanks for any advice on this.
i love this and it is perfect for the heat here in the United Arab Emirates- i am however afraid of using dry ice- isnt it toxic? what if small shavings of it lands on the cake?
Veronique Cataldo I used this box and was so excited until my brother delivered the cake and it dumped over inside the box!!! I had proper dowels into each layer of a 3 tier cake and a dowel that went through the center of the entire cake! You cannot pick this cake box up with a 30lb. cake inside of it as she is showing! It will buckle. I added two sheets of cardboard in the box at the bottom and they were anchored to the other box piece so their is a design flaw. I think maybe if you put a dowel through the box and through the whole cake and had someone hold the end of the dowel lightly that was sticking out of the top it might keep it from being able to topple over or the cake board needs to be strapped down to the box!!!
es para mantener el pastel helado, puede ser usado mayormente en lugares bien calientes donde se necesita aire acondicionado durante el dia. si vives en un lugar q no sea tan caliente no lo necesitas
It will be fine if the dry ice hits the cake. It's not hazardous. Just be careful if you have a cream cake, the ice will leave a blemish. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for watching! The jewlery on the cake is not edible, meant for decorative purposes only. However it is very easy to remove before cutting of the cake.
You can buy one that has print around, open all the sides around and close it the outside to the inside. Glued with a heavy glue and there it you go, a new box without print outside!!
Unless you stick your head in the encased dry ice and inhale the vapors, yes you might die from it. But you are transporting the item boxed up in the rear part of your vehicle. Relative to this is the worst effect of the carbon monoxide undetectable and lethal to the car's occupants. You will die from pure Oxygen as well. I know because I am an RN who loves to bake. I use dry ice in my delivery and I'm still alive.
Gypsies are the only community in the world that never declared war against other /nation/community/people. Is a good reason to feel proud to be gypsy and not from another countries like U.S or European countries..
Congratulations on not dying. I am amazed that a health care professional would make such an erroneous statement though. Either you are a) not an RN or b) not a professional. My guess is both. Are you licensed, public health servant?

@Canuckmom1958 Omfg... the only thing I would have done in this situation would be screaming out loud... -.- such idiots...! :(
Canuckmom1958 restaurants care only about their business. They could care less about food brought in from outside
How did you cut the flaps from the second box?
Great idea! But, I would secure the dry ice so that It doesn't roll into the cake.
biggest saviour! just saved me from spending hundred of dollars for multiple cake boxes. smart idea THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you so much for the video! Now I don't have to go to craft stores any more to buy boxes for like $15! This idea saves me money! Thank you much! The cake looks amazing!
This is the best wedding cake transporting tutorial that I have seen yet!! Thank you so much
I am happy that people like to share tips like these.... thanks a ton
This is the best wedding cake transporting tutorial that I have seen yet.👌 Thank you so much
Tanx a lot for this brilliant idea. It has made my life a lot easier when it comes to transporting my large cakes.
it is so perfect for Florida weather that is humid and wet at time.
It is recommended to open your window down a bit to let fresh air to come in. To avoid loosing vapor you can also tape the seam together.
Thank you for watching. Yes the dry ice is safe to use with the fondant because the dry ice does not create any moisture.

The use of a non-slip Mat will also help to reduce shifting of cake when transporting the cake.
wow what a great idea! thankyou! here i was thinking i was going to have to make a box out of wood hahaha. this is so handy! it gets VERY VERY hot here. I hope to God this works for me!
When using dry ice I suggest that you put it in small plastic sandwich bags then place it in the desired areas of the box to transport the cake.
I completely agree. Not safe to have the dry ice 'unguarded' like that next to something people will be EATING
Valerie Townsend I agree. I was gonna ask, btw, how come that dry ice is just put without some sort of guard so it does not touches the cake. thanks for the tip sandwich bags!!

or instead, use gel packs to cool the cake.;))
A plastic bag will not protect you from the coldness of dry ice. Use tongs or oven mitts.
I'm gonna try making this!! It's gets quite expensive to buy cake boxes especially big ones
This is so wise; thank you for sharing this technique!
how big of a box would i need for a 3 teir cake consisting of a 12in /9in/and 6in rounds
I think a non slip pad would work better than tape
Great video!! Thanks for sharing.....what size are your tiers in this cake (10,8 & 6)?

Very Brilliant! I would be trying this out.

+Lauren Pavoni Oh yeah, 400 bucks for a plastic box. That makes sense.
+he Llo If you're a professional cake maker on a two or less person staff, that price works out in the long run when it comes to time and effort and overall safety of the cakes construction.
+TheDisney93 How do you propose anyone transporting the cake push the metal rod through cake separator plates?
+TheDisney93 The acrylic on those boxes obviously cost very little to make and assemble. Charging 400 dollars is a complete rip off.
Yeah and it's $400 freaking dollars. Just RIDICULOUS. No thanks. Cardboard can be reused and recycled. Chill out.
Love all your tutorial videos! Thanks for sharing!
Yes it is safe for fondant icing, you can travel further on your delivery.
Thank you so much for watching. Yes this technique can be used with buttercream cakes. The dry ice does not create condensation.
Thanks for this lovely idea, cause i was have difficulties with my tall cakes delivery
I got to the first stage of the first box by sealing both ends & then cutting in 3" to get your base. You didnt show what you actually did with the second box to get the flaps you inserted into the box?
I’m also curious about that part too I’d definitely mess up 😫
what is the size of the box great work
Thank so much you are a great help to the novices
wow cool video thank you so much, the dry ice it's safe with the fondant?
Any more simple ideas for transporting a birthday cake 2 hrs in the car?
What if I do not have dry ice ❄?
Wonderful idea!
I just LOVED this idea. I have a few questions. I will be traveling from Nevada to California for about 5-6 hour drive on a Friday and delivered that following Sat afternoon. Use gel pack instead to cool the cakes.
I don't think works that way.
Thanks for the info!!! Very helpful!
Perfect and easy to make. Thanks so very much for this video! : )
use a non slip mat and ice pack.
Great idea! thanks for sharing
I love that cake
great idea
What if u replace the dry ice ice with frozen paper towels in a bag like the one they give in school
i love this and it is perfect for the heat here in the United Arab Emirates- i am however afraid of using dry ice- isnt it toxic? what if small shavings of it lands on the cake?
i love the box though-im definitely doing that!!
Dry ice isn't toxic - it's simply solid carbon dioxide. Here in the US it can be purchased food grade and is frequently used to keep food chilled.
Thank you Deb for the info! im soooo doing this for my next delivery- my cakes keep melting!
What exactly happened? The cake fell over? Or it completely squished/collapsed?
where do i buy dry ice from.
Thank you so much for this video. Was very helpful. God bless!
Hi..wht size box did you use
Can this technique be used with buttercream?
That was awesome! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for watching and enjoying the video. I'm glad it could help save you money.

The exposed dry ice is making me nervous.
is the jewlery on the cake edible?
clever clever! Thanks!
How big is the box that is used in the video
Gracias por tu tutorial excelente
It will be fine if the dry ice hits the cake. It's not hazardous. Just be careful if you have a cream cake, the ice will leave a blemish. Thanks for watching!!
Wow thank you!
The ice did not roll during transport
Awesome, thank you so much.
Omg, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
bloody brilliant...thanks :)
Be nice if you knew what pieces to cut from other box
we are glad.
whats the name of the song ?
Beautiful mind, thank you for sharing
What size boxes are they
Thank you for watching! The jewlery on the cake is not edible, meant for decorative purposes only. However it is very easy to remove before cutting of the cake.
So clever!
AWSOME love it
Yes beautiful........ ! Thanks
wow, that takes a long time.
won't the cake slide around in the box?
Claire Fraiser not if you put tape under the cake board which it looks like she did.
Better to use a silicon non slip pad, as the tape can sometimes get stuck and then you struggle with removal.
What a coincidence, 28 July is my birthday!
Only problem is most companies that sell dry ice require a substantial minimum order about $75 worth... looked into this a long time ago
Oh and it was only like $5.00 with tax. Very reasonable compared to a $100 cake disaster.
What if the dry ice hits the cake????
*Question* *where the hell do you find a cardboard box without writing and printed words on it* ??
Box suppliers online or nearby ...
Star zzky lol
You can buy one that has print around, open all the sides around and close it the outside to the inside. Glued with a heavy glue and there it you go, a new box without print outside!!
Uhaul sells some for moving or what ever moving company you can find that's local around you that sell them.
@@godisloveandjoyjesusismysa7439 absolutely
Agr mangwana ho to
hope the dry ice doesn't start moving around in the car?
Thanks for watching! A grip mat is a great suggestion to prolong the life of the box. Thanks for the suggestion!! :)
great video
I could see wrinkles on the cake when it was unboxed
The life of fondant.
SoO SMART
Sorry this happen d to your cake. I would have died has this happens!!!'
I was using woodprix instructions to make it and I did it already :)
What happen if a cat run across the street?
I guess you would have to choose between the cake and the cat.
I would step on the cat

Dry ice vapors can cause you to lose consciousness or even die. It is not a great idea to travel in a closed vehicle with dry ice
I think you're confusing dry ice with Carbon MONOXIDE.

dry ice is carbon dioxide - same "gas" we exhale out of our lungs. Your statement is absolutely false.
Congratulations on not dying.
I am amazed that a health care professional would make such an erroneous statement though. Either you are a) not an RN or b) not a professional. My guess is both.
Are you licensed, public health servant?
This is the best wedding cake transporting tutorial that I have seen yet!! Thank you so much
