4:35 How exactly do the minerals replace bone? I want to know the process. So the elixir that seeps through the sediment either dissolves the bones or finds a cavity where the bones have already been decomposed. Great. But then how does the mineral-rich water become hard stone? Many say it crystalizes. What does that process look like? Is it layer by layer? If the bones leave a cavity, then the cavity fills with water, do the crystals begin forming along the walls of the cavity layer by layer towards the inside? Does it differ with each crystalline structure? Is the crystal portion hard immediately? Does it harden like ice forming in water? Sort of flake by flake...like snowflakes. This process is more understandable than the other concept; bone being turned into minerals while the bone still exists. First of all, water can only permeate the pores of the bone. Second of all, once the minerals osmosis their way into the bone through the walls of the pores and the outer layer of the bone, how would the minerals then manage to continue making their way into the interior of the bone...this only seems to make sense if the bones are dissolved completely before they are re-crystalized/mineralized. Can someone help me out here
