The only exception is black Uggs. I did this with black Uggs. They’re like new except that the color is more like a dark dark gray. They no longer look black. I used just a drop of mild dishwashing liquid on my brush. When I put them in the washing machine I used almost no detergent. I didn’t put them in the dryer at all. Besides changing color, they look brand new.

I think Dawn soap is too harsh. It will make the dye bleed out too much. Try using Castile soap or vinegar (dilute w/ water)
