The Poet's Voice: Qamar Jalalvi - bhalaa apne naaloN ki mujh ko khabar kya

Qamar Jalalvi (Real Name: Muhammad Husain) (1887-1968) was a distinguished Urdu poet of the 20th century, known for his distinctive classical style and his mastery of the ghazal genre. He was born in Jalali, India - a town near Aligarh - but migrated to Karachi shortly after Partition. He was also known affectionately as "Ustad Qamar Jalalvi", and was a central figure in the literary culture of Karachi until his death.
This recording is from a mushaira held in Karachi in 1966 under the auspices of Bazm-e-Raees - a private association of the Minai family .
