Great video! I GM over on SoD and we took a break from formal raids over the holidays from our 3x raids. This week’s reset we’re only doing 2x due to New Years, and next we’re back to full strength. Definitely resonate with your numbers explanation over the holidays! I am slowly leveling up toons on Horde Nightslayer, with the ultimate goal of prepping for TBC. So excited for TBC again. Something that is wild to me is that SoD’s lifecycle as a *seasonal* server is longer than TBC classic’s. We are over 13 months since SoD launch and we still have 2 raid tiers to go. I know this is a “seasonal” server, but the runway blizzard has been giving this game mode has actually been fairly generous as it will be longer than TBC and Cata.

Keep up the content dude, nice to see some content creators in the classic sphere that are making actual thought provoking well thought out content.
I’m taking a break from SOD, but only until phase 7 comes out! I’m doing a HC character on the anniversary servers, but I have no intention to play endgame classic again, it’s just too boring compared to SOD. My feeling about SOD right now is that there really isn’t anything out there to do except aq40 raid, and it’s a shame. We need something to do outside of raids, and I think/hope that we will get something in phase 7.
Arenas & RBGs in SoD would be lit. And every healing spec should have a magic dispel in order to compete in pvp. Other than that I love SoD. It's leagues better than plain Vanilla.
As a casual player, I love how easy SOD is to get into but damn I do not like the idea of joining a random guild that invites me at level one but I also don't know where to find a guild.
I don't like sod. Not because i don't like the idea but because it was a promise that's largely been unfulfilled. Yes classes are overall more balanced and powerful now with actual rotations that feel good to use (Except warrior) and have many more potential builds that are viable (Except warrior). However, none of that matters because it feels exactly like retail. The content isn't scaled up properly, i got a character to 60 in 2 days played and every dungeon was so faceroll boring that it felt like retail. We completed UBRS in like 50 minutes by just stacking all the mobs and aoeing them down with hunter's free traps and mages ridiculous runes. It just doesn't feel like classic plus, it feels like the same easy classic content with overpowered private server like abilities that break everything. Maybe the raids get harder (The new ones, i did molten core and it was even easier) but I don't feel like finding out. Sod just felt wrong, like I needed to take a shower after kind of wrong. It feels like it was made for people that don't like retail and don't like classic and does a crappy job of trying to merge both philosophies together. Instead of creating something that actually resembles Classic+. Also incursions are the dumbest thing an mmo designer has ever made.
Walked away from SoD long ago when it became PvP dependent for advancement, no matter what kind of server you were on. They blew it. They failed. Same with everyone I played with on that server... as in guids gone.
I left SoD mid MC raids when guild drama happened. I came back when the rune broke kicked in. Yes the starting zones are booming with lv6 that take 5 mins to do. But it's just people trying stuff, its not dedicated levelers. I did a warlock from 1-60 and I think I did 4 dungeons tops. Stormwind had hundreds of players but none of them move. I couldn't get any dungeons 50-60 cuz everyone wanted "geared blast" alts for coin runs. Which is stupid, because trash literally falls over in seconds in these dungeons anyways. The only other adverts were boosts stockades, SM and BRD. The game is hard stuck in raid log mentality to me. Log on do raid and then afk. Saying that, I then moved over to Wild Growth realm, and instantly had more social interaction in 10 mins that I did the entire time on living flame. So I'm leveling again on that realm now.
I think CS is a little more sweaty raid loggy vs WG, but like i mentioned earlier, I would just message others in /who and get groups fast. BUT, i am the tank, so its easier for me in that aspect!
Wild growth has been so fun. People are super lenient about letting you in even if you're in lvl 50 welfare blues and greens most of the time. Lots of people coming back or new people trying it out. I try to be friendly and return the favor. The only thing sort of grinding my gears is trying to gear up as a tank. Its brutal. Often I cant get a spot in zg/mc/aq as a tank, so I go as a healer, but am locked from rolling on non-tier tank pieces. Which further delays how quickly I can get sufficient gear to OT/MT those raids confidently. And I dont really want to take healing gear from main spec healers, just doesnt sit well. But I'm progressing, so I guess its ok.
I still raidlog SoD. My class (warlock) is fun to play and they added so many new items and profession stuff in the AQ40 patch. Edit: I just wish all the content wasn't so trivial. Somehow AQ40 on "hardmode" feels easier than era AQ40 both trash and bosses.
How many people are you on hardmode in aq? Beacuse there is no aq40 mode in sod. There is aq20 but you can bring 40 people if you want. So im sure if you decide to play with more than 20 people it become quite easy☺️
@ I just say AQ40 because it’s what people always called it. Of course we raid with 20. I suppose I could call it “Temple of Ahn’Qiraj” but that’s a mouthful.
The nerfs were way overdone. Fankriss was actually a super fun fight, then it got nerfed to the ground and it’s a joke again. Same with Cthun. Still enjoy the raids and how to push boss speed kill times, but I did welcome the initial challenge at first
@@JurdiJD I did it week 2 and we wiped alot on hard mode. But maybe its nerfed to the ground as you say. Dosent matter anymore for me tho beacuse everyone quited at aq phase and guild i was in disbanned. Aq always been a hated raid in vanilla and i think the pools you get under you in hardmode makes it even more annoying XD
Biggest issue for me is I play on WG NA horde. It’s 30/70 ally on that server. Ally popping and our shit is dead. Let us race change or swap to the PvP server or something for fucks sakes. I have 5 60s and 3 40s. No way I’m starting over when it’s seasonal. Help us the fuck out blizzard god damn.
SoD is the best version of the game currently out. Fresh, Cata, TWW, none of them even come close. If any other version of the game went through ... - Sunken Temple raid (terrible loot, terrible trash packs, doubling the raid size, also announcing p4 will be 40m raids-even though they did end up scaling them down but we didnt know at the time) - PTR vendor making it to live - Terrible phase launches - Many other minor issues Any other version of the game would be completely dead, SoD has survived and it will grow especially going into the brand new content
I agree that the new fresh isn’t as popular as people thought . But I think a lot of people are in that tbc waiting room , playing ERA then sod into fresh classic is a lot of the same thing , might just be burn out . Thats just my two cents ! Great video
Finally someone with a brain who isn't influenced by FOTM streamer trash. Without the sunken temple debacle, we never would have lost those players temparily to begin with.
@@mattd7950I think another thing is that people who went back to fresh from sod were overwhelmed with the leveling pace. If we JUST had fresh, leveling would feel fine. But trying to play fresh and sod, leveling feels SO slow.
Everything you said was valid for sure. Started SoD again week and a half ago and every zone has had tons of people. Was a great leveling experience. Crusader Strike NA def not even close to dead. And the streamer thing about hardcore having population because of them is 100% true, people are sheep
not even close to dead, and has way more players than the garbage fotm hardcore/anniversary servers. i cannot stand streamers and the influence they have on what is "popular.
Fresh is pretty much a TBC waiting room. I can see SOD numbers rising again after the Christmas Break etc. People will start doing alt runs again in SOD too. Not sure why Blizzard keeps making the same mistakes over and over again on releasing new content/expansions etc. at the same time. That person or persons should of been fired along time ago
i had to quit SoD cause it just felt like retail within classic. i wanted new things to explore and take hold of in classic, not use abilities from different expansions and it make the class balance turn into a clown show. like actual new content, places, dungeons, raids. while some of that has happened. its happened within a form i didnt like. classic isnt dying. era is still going strong. most wow players are just flavor of the month andies and follow their favorite streamers, so hardcore is popping off for that. not only that but classic will only get smaller with each permanent era they open. and thats a whole new can of worms. imagine being bored on every era version of the game vanilla-wotlk at minimum and then raid logging on them. certain things shouldnt last forever and thats what we are learning. we are learning people rather play a fresh. instead of forever play a version thats finished.
Classic fresh was fun for about a week for me. I have no more interest in pushing 2 buttons and having every single run be a HR for the group leader and then raiding and getting 1 item every two-three weeks.
The thing about the test server, ops sod, is ppl don't like the constant bad balance changes pvp sucks and there's almost no actually new content a few new mechanics on raids is hardly actual content.
@@JurdiJD That's what you got out of my comment? Let me put it this way then, Fresh has a future, SoD don't. SoD has a deadline and that really killed the vibe for many people, myself included.
@@JurdiJD Aaand there you have it.! Fresh is deadge with no future, even tho TBC has been announced and nothing for SoD besides a deadline... .. Yeeaa, because that makes alot of sense. See you in Fresh in the future mate :) Aaand best of luck in SoD, and with your content
@@benofjarmin2833 what are you talking about lol. I just said what’s happened. Half the population gone already from fresh. And I already play fresh and sod…. Keep trying tho
It is absolutely the intention of content creators, Asmon himself has said it numerous times on stream that it's much easier to make negative content than positive content. Now that does not mean to say there isn't any truth behind these negative allegations but the current trend is to simply get as many views, clicks and reactions as possible. Edit: Btw doing a /who and seeing 30+ people on the list is not a lot by any mmo standards, he said leveling feels barren so why don't you go look instead of doing a /who which actually only proves his point further to be honest. If we are being really honest the 1 - 10 are mostly bank alts if you look at their locations, Its majority City location, so those numbers are buffered. Cope.
This is a really uneducated comment because I first did a /who of ZONES, not levels. So people were out in the world, not just in stormwind. For the initial comment, I should’ve put an asterisk that it’s not the intention of ALL creators. Some sure, but not all
So many doomers lol. I play sod on crusader strike, and I have tons of fun. Ive played a lot of wow over the years, and SOD is genuinely my favorite experience so far. I can find a group for literally anything almost instantly on the megaserver. The economy behaves somewhat normally and botting/gold buying feels lower than classic. Gold isn't as important, and you get lots of gold for just playing the game, so people are incentivised to just play the game. The raids are SUPER fun honestly. They're faster paced, and have more mechanics than classic, outgoing damage is very high, but so is incoming damage, and mechanics are punishing, and thr raids feel very well tuned and offer multiple difficulties. The damage and healing rotations feel so much better than classic, and you feel less brain dead than one or two button rotations. There are also tons of gearing options that are good. Sod feels great right now.
I think we’re having similar experiences. The doom at some points almost feels forced. For those who actually play, the game is very fun. I’ll never deny the faults that exist and happened, but damn this version is just so fun and different from other versions of wow I’ve played
It's interesting that raid numbers look low but I feel the game has been pretty active lately, especially while leveling as you showed. Saying that the game is dead is straight up wrong. Saying that we haven't gotten anything new is straight up wrong. Saying that the game hasn't had the QA we deserve is absolutely true.
Jurdi brother man, I think your perspective is skewed as someone that played from day 1 and has established, raid geared characters. Trying to get started or returning right now is awful. Leveling dungeons are few and far between, endgame dungeons are brutal to find, I tried for weeks to get mc and ony attune. The few groups I did find were full of people that didn’t know where to go and didn’t speak English. Sure, I could jump into ZG and AQsmall but that’s not much of a game. It’s a healthy raid log game, but everything else is super dead.
I see BRD groups often. In regards to Ony, it's just unfortunately a terrible chain that not a lot of people want to do, or dont need to do anymore. So it's just a dead attunement to get. I've found the best way to do dungeons is to just whisper people in my bracket. The LFG board and addon dont really work. I understand that it's not as active in the chats to find these groups, but it's not hard. And I just s howed you in the video that there are over 50 people in every 10 level bracket leveling, so I just disagree that it's dead in that aspect.
@@JurdiJDI just boosted my gf from 25 to 60 and I can probably count on one hand how many other players we would see in a random leveling zone outside of incursion or eruption zones. I think the rune vendor made low low level areas populated but it seems to fall off pretty fast. I was surprised that reals didn’t help with endgame dungeon activity as much as I expected. But then again I imagine people already have everything they could ever want from that vendor. I do wish I hadn’t stopped playing for so long because since I’ve tried returning I’ve just ended up capping characters then being unable to do much of anything else so I move on to the next character. It has been a couple weeks since I played so maybe there’s more life now that fresh is starting to settle into the raid log part.
@@lecrab8090 Welcome to a wow server lifecycle - Its like that every time btw. Compared to SoM, which had like 3k players total during AQ, SoD is going very strong. Not sure if you were only indoors or if you did not transfer to one of the mega servers yet, but I just leveled a hunter and can't agree with seeing no ppl in the world. Ive seen tons of people everywhere, its hard to imagine you are on the correct server. They merged all servers into 1 at some point..
SoD is the best version of the game currently out. Absolutely no one wanted fresh vanilla anniversary servers either, those are a waiting room for what people actually wanted which was TBC. Because of streamers hyping up FOTM HC servers, the braindead populace of people who do nothing but consume WOW streamer content all day thinks that if you aren't on HC you are "playing a dead game" despite SoD being way more populous than HC fresh/old, era, and anniversary combined. These numbers have grown ever since the rune change and will jump hugely once Naxx and the new raid come out. No Hit Jerome and Sanmedina are clowns who got big on SoD and then immediately abandoned it once they got Onlyfangz invites. Now they are exactly like those people who stay subbed to wow channels to promote the idea that "sod is dead" and they desperately want it to fail, rather than just going and playing their game. Those classic fresh anniversary servers are already dying and we're only up to Molten Core. Why? Because the end game of no changes vanilla is ATROCIOUS, by far the most boring in wow history. Especially when many of us have done it literally a handful of times at this point. You just can't go back to the archaic nonsense of no changes vanilla after playing SoD, I'm sorry. In a couple of weeks we already have clowns like Xaryu saying they will be pivoting to the next FOTM which is plunderstorm. These people don't actually like vanilla wow. They like the experience of leveling on a new fresh realm and the clip farming it provides. The HC/anniversary lovers essentially play this game like a Co-Op game where hitting level 60 is the "end", rather than the beginning of the best part of the game. End of story. It amazes me how no one talks about this fact. Once you hit 60 you are inevitably hit with the atrocious pre-bis grind, snoozefest raids (40 man molten core is suicidally boring), and massive class/spec imbalance,. The reason you say can't find a tank on anniversary is because unlike SoD which has over a handful of fun tank specs, vanilla has only 2, and really only one if you're min maxing. GDKPs being banned is also going to later be seen as what it is - a completely bad decision. Era was able to sustain itself for years after vanilla SOLELY on GDKPs. One's opinion of GDKP's is irrelevant, it's just a fact. Once the FOTM players leave, good luck finding competent 40 man raid pugs without GDKP. Either way, refreshing to see a youtuber actually state facts about these games rather than follow whatever Onlyfangz clowns are doing. By the way, speaking of dying, that guild is on a fast track to death as we speak because so called rank 1 retail pvpers can't even manage to hit 60 without dying over and over again. Good players like Ahlaundoh have totally given up on them since, as he put it, "im not gonna waste my time playing with these shitters and waste my hundreds of hours of a character dying because some random vtuber playing a garbage spec causes me to die". He's now back raiding on SoD. The return is inevitable. Watch when the next phase prepatch comes out. Ton of people will be returning as they are inevitably met with "Naxx and an SM raid on sod vs another several months of doing 40 man molten core and BWL". The play right now is ride SoD all the way until TBC comes out, and then hope they announce new classic plus style stuff after SoD "finishes".
completetly right 1000% truth.... devs see it and community see it... the biggest problem of wow is its community. the little rats that destroyed this game cuz of their egos.... if it wasnt for the community wow sod would have been classic+ already with the same characters as well no new realms no new eras just transfering or continuing.... stupid elithists shits brodda they cry how the vanilla was bout the jorney the communications and world itself while when they play they dont communicate if its not profitable. they dont want anythig new if it is not 1000% lore/mechanics etc correctly. those ppl that alwaaays since 15 yrs mate say thats the game should be played with joy and that its a marathon and not a race type bullshit still the same becteria ppl are speedruning like shtit 3 day already killing Illidan when we are phase 2 vanilla... bro i swear those ppl should have special restriction to their accounts like 1 raid a month idccc... idk why the sweaters and top players should be priority to blizz or the community.... we all pay the same money i have contributed the same amount of money to them and thats whats matter not how good i actualy am at the game.... the sweaters have their in community spot that already lost its charm truought the years

I played phase1 and got bored and quit. Am back on hc and enjoying it a lot. And no, i dont watch streamers nor do i care about them or their opinion
- Sunken Temple raid (terrible loot, terrible trash packs, doubling the raid size, also announcing p4 will be 40m raids-even though they did end up scaling them down but we didnt know at the time)
- PTR vendor making it to live
- Terrible phase launches
- Many other minor issues
Any other version of the game would be completely dead, SoD has survived and it will grow especially going into the brand new content
I love the enthusiasm! And I never thought to compare what SoD went through vs how it would've been for other versions
@@cococock2418we just lying huh? Fresh has significantly more players
If the most popular part of Classic is the one that's getting carried by streamer hype then Classic is failing badly.
i had to quit SoD cause it just felt like retail within classic. i wanted new things to explore and take hold of in classic, not use abilities from different expansions and it make the class balance turn into a clown show. like actual new content, places, dungeons, raids. while some of that has happened. its happened within a form i didnt like. classic isnt dying. era is still going strong. most wow players are just flavor of the month andies and follow their favorite streamers, so hardcore is popping off for that. not only that but classic will only get smaller with each permanent era they open. and thats a whole new can of worms. imagine being bored on every era version of the game vanilla-wotlk at minimum and then raid logging on them. certain things shouldnt last forever and thats what we are learning. we are learning people rather play a fresh. instead of forever play a version thats finished.
Bro give me some of that stuff you're smoking
Classic fresh is still a blast.
Classic fresh was fun for about a week for me. I have no more interest in pushing 2 buttons and having every single run be a HR for the group leader and then raiding and getting 1 item every two-three weeks.
I'm not playing SoD or Fresh because of the train of bots in ph2. Such a waste of time.
The thing about the test server, ops sod, is ppl don't like the constant bad balance changes pvp sucks and there's almost no actually new content a few new mechanics on raids is hardly actual content.
Blizzard killed SoD whenever they announced Fresh. Fresh will move towards TBC, SoD won't.
You know not everyone likes tbc right
@@JurdiJD That's what you got out of my comment? Let me put it this way then, Fresh has a future, SoD don't. SoD has a deadline and that really killed the vibe for many people, myself included.
@ fresh had a future that has already lost nearly half its population since launch
I just started season of discovery again after phase one because I wanted to try the Scarlet Crusade raid
I hope you have a good time!!
SoD ? I call it “retail minus”
@@frankt9156 it’s not that at all lol

Mostly bots in the /who list leveling up.....
It is absolutely the intention of content creators, Asmon himself has said it numerous times on stream that it's much easier to make negative content than positive content.
Now that does not mean to say there isn't any truth behind these negative allegations but the current trend is to simply get as many views, clicks and reactions as possible.
Edit:
Btw doing a /who and seeing 30+ people on the list is not a lot by any mmo standards, he said leveling feels barren so why don't you go look instead of doing a /who which actually only proves his point further to be honest.
Some sure, but not all
@@JurdiJD My comment is uneducated because you did a /who of zones?
If that isn't a rage bait idk what is, Mr holier than thou.
I'm bouncing between SoD and Retail. I have no desire to play World of Warriors and Mages only again.
Don't mages suck on SoD?
Absolutely, If this game was just polished, it would be so strong man
Compared to last lockout, +3k players more played in SoD. I don't get ppl saying its on a decline when its obviously not
It’s kinda dead :(
I am still hopeful that they will make a Classic+, which would just be Classic with a couple of new abilities, and dungeons/raids. SoD is just retail.

Not even close to dead, keep liking your own comments. Way more players on SoD than anniversary and hc combined.
@@cococock2418 please tell me you are joking 🤣
Feels full enough to me, get dungeons very quick get raids very quick, world seeks to be busy can’t complain 👌
Its 10 layers on anniversary pvp server most days. How many is there in sod?
hc
The play right now is ride SoD all the way until TBC comes out, and then hope they announce new classic plus style stuff after SoD "finishes".
completetly right 1000% truth.... devs see it and community see it... the biggest problem of wow is its community. the little rats that destroyed this game cuz of their egos.... if it wasnt for the community wow sod would have been classic+ already with the same characters as well no new realms no new eras just transfering or continuing.... stupid elithists shits brodda they cry how the vanilla was bout the jorney the communications and world itself while when they play they dont communicate if its not profitable. they dont want anythig new if it is not 1000% lore/mechanics etc correctly. those ppl that alwaaays since 15 yrs mate say thats the game should be played with joy and that its a marathon and not a race type bullshit still the same becteria ppl are speedruning like shtit 3 day already killing Illidan when we are phase 2 vanilla... bro i swear those ppl should have special restriction to their accounts like 1 raid a month idccc... idk why the sweaters and top players should be priority to blizz or the community.... we all pay the same money i have contributed the same amount of money to them and thats whats matter not how good i actualy am at the game.... the sweaters have their in community spot that already lost its charm truought the years
imagine playing an activision blizzard king microsoft game
