Delicious another way as well is using complete seasoning, salsa China, mojo criollo the goya brand oregano a cap full of vinegar leaving overnight with the cut up aji not onions you add the onions near the end when its almost done and Bam! Its my mothers receipe its amazing
Just made this and wow soooo good! At the end I was waiting for what to do to get sauce so I added water again. My bf likes t with a lot of sauce! Thank you Chef Zee.
Ay Zee, que te digo, you have saved me some days lol. What I do with this recipe is I buy a big bag of sliced bistec at a bodega across town that slices it super thin, I get like 5 lbs. I portion it out, marinate it and freeze it, a pound per ziplock bag. Then during the week, I move one bag to the fridge from the freezer and by dinner time it's ready for me to make. So good and so easy. Thank you!♥️
Chef what's the difference between bistec encebollado and carne guisado??? Do you ask the butcher for them to tenderize the meat or how do you get thin?? Also why don't you cut into strips? I LOVE you, you are saving my relationship! ♥️🙏
The difference are VERY minimal and slight. With Bistec Encebollado, you typically only serve it with onions where as Carne Guisada is served with both onions and peppers. Also, depending on your culture, region, and household, some people also add potatoes and carrots to their Carne Guisada and make it more like a stew. Some may even use different cuts of meat. It really all depends. You can definitely ask the butcher to tenderize the meat or you can do it yourself with meat tenderizer. A meat tenderizer is really easy to make and looks like Thor's hammer lol
I usually cut the meat into the thin strips whenever I make pepper steak, which is also similar to Carne Guisada and Bistec Encebollado. The difference with Pepper Steak, is that I use a TON of vibrant peppers to really maximize the flavor of the peppers. I have a video on that as well. Again, these recipes are similar with slight differences. It comes down to personal preference and cut of meat.
Can you put the steps in the description as well? I can't hear. I'm cleaning listening to music and watching this at the same time!! Typical Dominican shizz
I have been married to a PR man for 4 years now and this is the ONE dish I've made a few times but never turns out right! Now I know why...I didn't cook the steak long enough! Love your style! Quick, to the point! New subscriber here. Love from Philly!!
This reminds me so much of being back home in Jersey I grew up on all kinds of different cultures of food and Dominican food is my absolute favorite. Every time I go home my best friend's house is the first place I stop because I know the house will be full of love and flavors
What part of Jersey you from? ...I'm from Camden Nj and I totally agree ..All the Bodegas(mini markets or Corner stores) are own by Dominicans I love their food I actually had this the other day 😅
So I made this last week and ended up having unexpected guests over. And I served them first and before I sat down to eat they were saying how good it was and their 10 year old daughter raved that she loved it!!! Thank you Chef Zee
I simply love this my first time having this was @ a Dominican restaurant I fell in😍 I had to ask my neighbor who is Dominican she came over & showed me I'm forever grateful of her Tfs! Chef you totally rock God Bless you!!!!👍👍👍👌👌⭐⭐
😋 we have this too in Philipines! Bistec with lots of sibuyas (cebollas). Try caramelizing some of the onions to make it sweet and the others, half cooked. ... Funny, growing up i thought this was an authentic filipino dish.
Can I have cook this with a double layer of meat or not since it has to brown when the water evaporates? Also, can I use sofrito to marinate instead? Thank you!!!!
Love the video, but can do one without sopita or adovo, I'm trying to cook as healthy as possible and I found those not to good for me. Thanks for the video.
Hiii love your videos! I moved here three years ago and for me was a lil hard to find my dominican products. I didn’t know what type of carne de res to get and I tried everything and I finally found the perfect carne to make carne de res stew or bistec encebollado and its Sirloin. Sirloin its soft, tasteful and delicious. Try sirloin instead of steak y ya veras ❤️
Saludos fellow chef!!! Thank you so much for watching. It really means a lot!!! Carne Molida doesn't last in my house lol. Everyone gobbles it up. My grandmother always added pasas whenever she made the carne molida for the pastelitos 🤗🤗🤗
I’ve become the ultimate cook here at my house because of you chef zee the only thing I wish is that you tell us the level of heat ur using on ur stove I know everyone’s stove is different but just a lil guide line other than that your the real MVP
This is my third recipe of your that I cooked, I made this tonight and I loved t so much! I live in Jamaica and some of the meat here is not tender but your method really upgrades the meat. ❤️❤️❤️ Gracias 🙏🏽
I actually made this yesterday using another UA-cam recipe but now I want to try yours! Yours has a lot more incredients and to me that means more flavor.
I’m making this now minus the aji because I couldn’t find any. I put a lil too much soy sauce for my taste, but i must say the flavors are still amazing. Thank you chef zee, I’ll practice cooking this more .
I first would like to say thank you very much for this recipe I did it last night for dinner for my husband and my son and they both loved it so thank you
Tried this it was absolutely delicious. I used NY steak but I tenderized it with the cooking hammer. It still came out so good I definitely will be adding this to my rotation!
The camera angle when initially adding the ingredient is a little awkward, you can’t really make out what’s going into the bowl. Besides that, great video. Just like my momma makes 😃
I want to make most of your dishes but I have no idea what most of these seasonings are and neither do any of the clerks at my local grocery stores when I ask them. :-(. Do they go by a different name in English? Or are they spice blends?
Thank you for explaining the amount of time ,I always took the meat out too early and it was kinda tough. Keep up the good work! Love this channel,I don't know why I am not getting notices of uploads?:(
You're welcome! I would make the same mistake until one day I watched my aunt make it and noticed how long it took and I realized that she stews the meat for a while. Simple fix but it sucks when you're HUNGRY and have to wait a while for the meat to soften lol. The notifications can get wonky on UA-cam :( Have you tried clicking the bell next to the subscribe button? If the button is gray then you'll get occasional notifications. If you click it again and it's gray with two lines on top of the bell then you'll get notified every time I upload a new video. I hope this helps and thank you so much for watching!
Add enough water so that it covers the meat. Depending on how much you're making that might be 2cups or more of water. The water will essentially braise and tenderize the meat. Keep adding water and letting it dry out until it reach the texture that you want. I personally like melt in your mouth velvety meat so I repeat that process about 2 or more times until it gets to where I want it. I hope this helps.
Thank you for replying. I just made the white rice, the easy beans and now the steak is marinading. It's a Dominican Christmas Eve at my house! Merry Christmas love.
Bistec is so good. I’m Filipino tho not Hispanic but it’s a common food in my culture. I just came here since I wanna learn how to make this
Bistek with garlic rice and a side of atchara.
Delicious another way as well is using complete seasoning, salsa China, mojo criollo the goya brand oregano a cap full of vinegar leaving overnight with the cut up aji not onions you add the onions near the end when its almost done and Bam! Its my mothers receipe its amazing
ONE OF MY FAVORITE DISHES

Lid on or off after adding liquid ? And any other cut of beef ?
Hey zee! Do you need to add the salsa China? Or can you use something else
You can use regular soy sauce or skip it altogether. If you skip the soy sauce, feel free to add enough adobo/chicken bouillon cube to taste :)
thank you!!
I wanna be her when I grow up. 🤩
What is that brown stuff you put in the steaks?
Can you put the steps in the description as well? I can't hear. I'm cleaning listening to music and watching this at the same time!! Typical Dominican shizz
😫😩😆😭

En las filipinas 🇵🇭 we use soy sauce + knorr seasoning + calamansi on bistec

Funny, growing up i thought this was an authentic filipino dish.
Wow, I made this and I had a craving for bread so I made a philly steak, cheese and onion sub. Omg it was great
Can I have cook this with a double layer of meat or not since it has to brown when the water evaporates? Also, can I use sofrito to marinate instead? Thank you!!!!

+wirelesschick123 thank you! Let me know if you have any questions! 💖 welcome to the family!
Do you cover the meat while the water is cooking it? (Those 20-30 mins)
She doesn't. It stays open so the water evaporates.
Hi, I would like to know what soy sauce you use for the stew. Thank u
It's just regular soy sauce (salsa china).
What if you have an expensive piece if steak 😟
This is my third recipe of your that I cooked, I made this tonight and I loved t so much! I live in Jamaica and some of the meat here is not tender but your method really upgrades the meat. ❤️❤️❤️
Gracias 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for making the recipe 💕 this means so much to me. I'm so happy that you liked!
Add cornstarch como los chino hacen con su carnita.
Thank you so much for your teaching ! My favorite from your number 1 fan ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are so welcome!
Chef zee I took some time off UA-cam to get over you but I’m still in love 😂😍
The way you juiced the lime was super efficient! Look at all that juice! I’m going to be doing it this way for now on.
One more thing....how come you don't cover the pan since you're trying to braise the steak...wouldn't that be more efficient?? Thank you
Zee is it ok for the meat to overlap? I don’t think my pan is big enough for it to be one layer, if not I’ll use two pans 🤷🏾♀️ Thank you!
That looks absolutely delicious! As always. :)
Thank you so much!!!!
This meal came out sooo Delicious!!! Hubster who is Not a big beef eater is now asking for meal to be added to weekly menu. 🥰😎👍
I like that you put the ingredients at the bottom
I actually made this yesterday using another UA-cam recipe but now I want to try yours! Yours has a lot more incredients and to me that means more flavor.
Lol give it a try. I'm heavy handed when it comes to garlic but that's not the worst thing that can happen? Right? lol
I’m making this now minus the aji because I couldn’t find any. I put a lil too much soy sauce for my taste, but i must say the flavors are still amazing. Thank you chef zee, I’ll practice cooking this more .
What’s a golden onion?

How much water do I add to the pan? I'm making this tomorrow for dinner, along with your beans and white rice. Can you post a Coquito video as well?
