Vilca and Malacatos will be my first travel spot after I settle in Cuenca.. until then I can only cry everytime I see the videos of Ecuador
If I want to realize how wonderful life is, in my own homeland, I can always turn to your channel. Thanks for loving Ecuador so much. Love you back!
Thanks! We love Ecuador and its people! You all are so nice and welcoming!
God Bless you both. And I love America and Americans (sounds so "divisive", considering we are all one , in my opinion).
Beautiful.. cant wait to see Vilca.. Good Luck Mico !!! See you next year in Vilca !
It's such a pretty little town, love the colors on the church. I hope Amelia bought that gorgeous necklace. Lovely work for only $20.
It is really quaint! We forgot our money at the hotel so we didn't buy the necklace. It sure was pretty though!
@@AmeliaAndJP Awww, too bad. :(
I ate in that space when it was decidedly un-vegan. Can't wait to try this new place. Hope it's still there. Really fun revisiting Vilcabamba with you. Thank you! Hope you're still dancing!
Amelia and JP:
I have been watching the videos on your Ecuadorian experience for a couple of weeks now. I am a new subscriber and thoroughly enjoy what you share. An important aspect of why I enjoy watching is your lovely, funny, and pleasant interaction with each other. Your positive chemistry is infectious. It is simply delightful. Finding a new home for me in the not so distant retirement phase of my life is another reason I am drawn to your video blog. I am currently at work in Northern California, during my lunch break, enjoying your video on Vilcabamba. So much fun. I look forward to visiting Ecuador in the near future. You are such wonderful unofficial ambassadors for that South American country. Congratulations on your great work.
Ciao,
Sebastian
Concord, California
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
I love that song in the beginning!! Perfect for Vilcabamba and YOU GUYS.
Thanks!
Wow! I will definitely visit this restaurant next year.
now i have to check out vilcabamba :)
Nice video. Wow that guy can cook. The food looks amazing. What a nice place to visit. Take care
Thanks! Glad you liked it! 😊
I’m going to Cuenca next year, I can’t wait to see this place in Vilcabamba. Thank you for this great video!
Thanks! Vilcabamba is about 4 hours south of Cuenca.
Amelia And JP - Vilcabamba ends in A so that makes it feminine. Vilcabamba es muy mágica. Quito would be mágico as it ends in O. Spanish is sooo easy! 😊
norviato1 all the Ecuadorians use mágico y bonito y hermoso to describe cities regardless of their gender. I asked our Spanish teacher about that and she said it’s not correct but that’s how everyone says it. She encouraged us to say it the right way but it’s hard when all we here is the wrong way.
Amelia And JP - Precisely, Just because all the sheep go over the cliff doesn’t mean you should too. Cuenca es una ciudad muy bonito, Ugh Say it right. Cuenca es una ciudad muy bonita, doesn’t that sound better and it’s also correct. It irks me when I hear Americans constantly use incorrect English and I’m supposed to be the “immigrant” what gives? When I hear Donald Trump constantly use incorrect words I want to hit him on the head with the stupid book. Money is not class and it shows every step of the way, including the way they use language. Eventually when you become more fluent you’ll see the importance of it. Now go change diapers on the guagua! haha 😜😬😍🤡
Hi Amelia I love you videos
Queition
Around how much do I need to move live in villcabamba 3 people ( buy a land build a small house) thanks.
It’s so beautiful there, my type of living!
It's nice to see some new videos of my favorite (yet to visit) place on Earth. So many of the videos I've enjoyed of Vilcabamba are about 7+ years old. Nice to see your view of the updated town. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So happy to see this 🥰 I will be there soon. Finally.... been a long strange trip 💜💜🦋🦋🎶🎶
You guys look so shinny in this vid. Love from Guayaquil. Loooooove your channel (and I am Ecuadorian ;)
Thanks!
Another great video! Love seeing all the murals, and all the dogs, and flowers! Amazing rainbow too. Enjoyed hearing Mika’s story. Thanks!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I almost had to stop watching your video. It was making me hungry! 😄
Sorry! hahaha
Vilcabamba is everybody’s dream land - the equivalence of what we described as the “American dream”. But Vilcabamba is the real one.
By the way, I like the transition from vegans to the “unconventionals”.
Great video !
It was amazing! We feel like "unconventionals" is more relevant for us. Glad you like the change.
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing footage of our future home! Mico’s Oasis Verde Is definitely going to be our first stop en el Lugar mágico. We can’t wait! Great footage and great editing. I subscribed, liked, shared and hit the notifications bell:))))
Hope to meet you in person someday!
Awesome! Glad you liked, subscribed, shared and rang the bell! Thanks so much!
I’m from Ecuador but lived in the USA most of my life. I have never been in Quito, Cuenca or Vilcabamba and I’m planing to stay few days in those places. Thank you for your videos it’s helping me a lot in planing my trip. In Vilcabamba we are going to stay at el Descanzo de el Toro.
Great! Thanks! Glad the videos are helping!
I took a trip there last month. LOVED it & the surrounding towns of Quinara and Yangana.
Awesome! We didn’t go to any other towns on this trip. Maybe next time 👍
Looks so peaceful with a country vibe.
Thanks SO MUCH for another delightful sharing! I'm an "omnivore".....but I really enjoyed this episode and look forward to visiting Miko's sometime before too long!!! Happy New Year to you both!! D
So delicious 😋. Mico does very good dishes. I am going to visit his restaurant next year. Thank you for sharing with us
He is an artist! Amazing food! 😋👍
Just love your vlogs.
Thank you 😊
Happy to see .all specially u PETS 🇪🇨
This looks like an amazing place. We can't wait to check it out. :)
You guys make me want to move to Ecuador and my wife is thinking about it as well
Love your videos I admire you attitude comfortable spirit I live it
Keep up the good work
AWESOME!!!
It's great to see Vilcabamba again - it was really dry when we were there last year. I'm so glad you found Mico and Asya! They ran out of food their first week-end being open! We will definitely be visiting them again after we visit you guys in Cuenca for your unconventional meet-up (probably in November). Can't wait to try the drunken mushrooms and any of Mico's amazing desserts! Thanks for another awesome video!
We can't wait to meet you! And we loved Mico's! It was incredible!
Doing research on Ecuador, thanks for all your great videos !!
Glad you like them!
Can't wait to try that restaurant in some glorious non-covid future of travel and freedom!!!! That space was something much different the first and only time I visited Ecuador 4 or 5 years ago, when I stayed exclusively in Vilcabamba for 2 weeks. I think the dancing lessons are new too. It looked lovely!!! Sigh. Back to work tomorrow here in Uzbekistan, starting the school year virtually with cases on the rise, a population that won't practice social distancing or proper mask-wearing, and a medical system ill-equipped to handle it. Wish me luck. Your videos have really been helping me stay hopeful for a different future. Thank you. Stay safe and be well. I am curious to see how your veggie garden is doing!
Another place that I like in Vilcabamba is called Izhcayluma... I love the food and you should swim in the river that is like 10 minutes from the zoo. Another option is “El descanso del Toro” and taking a horse ride too. Love your videos guys. Saludos desde Vilca ❤️
Great to see Vilcabamba highlighted and hats off to Mico and his team! Welcome and visit FB @MandangoPyramid next time in Vilcabamba!
We walked up to the pyramid but there was a yoga class inside so we didn’t film it. Next time 😊👍
Amazing food!!! Unbelievable
Sí! Increíble!
Love your videos!
Thanks!
nice video guys,well done!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! 😊
We just drove down to Vilcabamba today from Loja to try the restaurant and it looks like a different owner now. Same mural but it’s called “Mama Silvia’s” now but still shows as Mico’s Oasis on Google maps. It was such a bummer.
That is a bummer:( Mico moved to Cuenca and opened a new restaurant there.
Looks delicious! I am not vegan but could easily switch with yummy looking food like that!
Haha! Great! Mico is a master!
Oh my gosh!!!
Hi Amelia and JP! I was happy to see the town of Vilcabamba...it's adorable! Also, seeing the food is wonderful! Mico truly is a food artist! I was trying to see what all was in the drunken mushrooms when you were scrolling down the menu. What else besides rum? I'd like to try to make them. I'm guessing the rolls that you showed were wrapped in sliced zucchini? Wow! I'm inspired! Thanks for another enjoyable video!
All the menu said was mushrooms in a rum sauce. I'm not sure what else they had, but they were AMAZING! Zucchini wrapped quinoa rolls were yummy too. 😋
That vegan food looked amazing! I would have gorged myself too, lol. I love that there are creative chefs out there showing the world that vegan food can be just as delicious and beautiful.
There are many amazing vegan restaurants in EC!
Yummm! I'm not even vegan, and I wanna eat there. What a charming young man.
Nice video guys, the images are so vivid and inviting 👍
We miss it already! Es un lugar muy mágico 💚😊
Amelia And JP - Sus videos son mágicos, Señor y Señora Stonestreet or is it Stonehenge? 🤡
Haha! It's Stonestreet, but Amelia kept her maiden name. We're unconventional that way 😁
Amelia And JP - You’re unconventional on the inside but very conservative on the outside, at least it looks that way. 😬😐🤡
That's an astute observation. I used to be conservative on the inside, too.
I want to go there when I visit Vilcabamba
Sadly Mico moved and the restaurant is closed.
@@AmeliaAndJP that’s so sad. I just realized the post was from a few years ago. I’m able to enjoy my home country through your videos.
The area looks so beautiful. Mico's restaurant is a definite first-stop for us whenever we get down to visit. We have friends that we want to visit there. Also, I love the music in the background!
Thanks! Mico's and the falafel place (UFO) are both must tries! They were both amazing!
Nice guy, and the food looks so yummy! But you forgot to ask him about his Ayahuasca experiences. That would have been most interesting (presumably) :)
The food looks delicious. I'd be a regular if I were there! How has Mico fared during covid?
Looks like the population of Vilcabamba had grown watching this video. Was there a special event that day when you walked the church plaza ?
It was a Sunday and a holiday, although I can't remember which one. Everyone was out enjoying the beautiful weather.
Yup, that Sunday you walked at the park.
Looks like the population has grown from a sleep small village.
Ola, I'm looking at the menu, at Verde and is the price in USD, $8.50 for the drunken mushrooms? Is there a pharmacy in. town? I also ask about CATV in Ecuador, from the beach to Quinta and even Vilcabamba is the NFL and NBA available. I'm addicted to your vlogs, you cover so much of the country. Great stuff.
/Is there a pharmacy
There is a pharmacy in town. There is DirectTV throughout EC so you should have access to a lot of North American programming.
In multiple videos the 2 of you brag about how good Ecuadorian coffee is. J.P. even noted he can drink it black which he did not used to do. I too dislike black coffee. I was looking up Ecuadorian coffee online to buy some and taste it. Is there a particular brand that you two drink most often?
We usually buy our coffee directly from the coffee farmer. They have a booth at the mercado by our house and grind the fresh beans for us. We also like Café Cubanito, but I've never seen that outside Ecuador. I think the main reason why it's so much better here is that it's so fresh and doesn't need to be shipped so far.
Question, I’ve been looking at real estate in Cuenca. Are you located close to the Tres Puentes area and Parque Lineal Yanuncay?
We live close to there and walk by that area on our way up to Turi. It's about a 10 minute walk from here.
norviato1 yes we’re close to the stadium. Wish you could have been at our gathering yesterday!
Amelia And JP - Yes, It would be nice. Maybe in a short while I’ll be there raising raucous lol (I’m actually very well behaved in person) So far I know that if I want luxury and splendor, I should look along Avenida Fray Vicente Solano and stay away from Feria Libre and the Terminal Terrestre 🙃😬🤡 Perhaps you can lend me Daisy so she can be my guide dog 😍🤡
Do you guys ever eat local food?
...please dont make too many nice vids about vilcabamba,we are already full!(Joke)
I understand that piece is of borojo cake. This is fruit better than Viagra.
A lot of murders there recently I’ve heard from friends there
We haven't heard anything about that. Do you have a link to a reputable source of information? A lot of people say things to scare people off with a "we were here first so go away" mentality.
You know for minimalists you certainly make a big fuss over food. From now on, oats and river water 💦 lol 😐
That's because we love to eat more now than we ever did before. It's still shocking to us because we thought being vegan was restrictive and boring, but it's the exact opposite. We used to eat the same 3 or 4 meals every week. Now we eat FAR more variety of foods and flavors. And we like to help bust that myth by showing what we eat 😉
Amelia And JP - You’re doing a good job of busting everything including myths lol 😶
Amelia And JP - The old Publix in my area was completely torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. Now it’s a huge freaking Palace with all kinds of specialty foods. They even have packets of Indian food imported from India, just ready to microwave and eat over basmati rice. The local Bubbas strut around like Donald Trump. lol Expensive place but has everything. I think I’m giving up Walmart haha 🙂😊😍
😂
brendametube - You Just drenched me with your tears 😭 lol
