- The U.S. Coast Guard is working around the clock to clear a path for freighters loaded with vital cargo trying to make their way through frozen waters of the Great Lakes. Don Dahler reports.

Sorry but the new hats suck. I like the unit specific. They just fit and present a MORE military appearance and god forbid, shows some pride. I have all 10 of mine hanging on the wall. Everything from St Clair Shores MI , Northwind, Mobile Bay, couple more ships, TRACEN Pet. D9.. couple more land units. The only one that looks a little "goofy" is the RETIRED hat.

Coast Guard clearing ice for freighters = taxpayers pay the bill while companies pocket all the profit.
They're keeping the shipping lanes open for commerce ie. the movement of raw materials and goods. State and local street and highway departments plow snow to keep roads and highways open for trucks to move goods and materials. Think this one through again.
