A much better day today, Andrea. I improve each day. We've had rains, again, typical Bank Holiday weather, the orchids love it outside. Like you say, Keith has done an amazing job. The garden is certainly our happy place.

What a wonderfull garden. Alot of orchids like the outdoor life. But at great risk to be eaten by snails. I almost lost my Barkeria that way. But my berryoda have never grown better than now, where it is outdoor😊

Thank you Anna for dropping by. I've had a busy afternoon bringing my Cattleya types and phalaenopsis inside, checking for slugs and snails. I had woodlice running everywhere! Marc suggested this move as our temperatures are dropping to 8c at night. 😊

We've lost a lot of bedding plants due to the continuing rains, but the perennials and shrubs have loved this wet summer.

You got a lot of nerve (didn't want to say balls 😁) with keeping your orchids outside, I only have the Anselia and my Vanda's outside and they get in as soon as the first drop falls. I'm terrified of crown rot (happened on the Anselia and I'm sure not going to let that happen with the Vanda's, they're both with spike

Well, mine have been outside for weeks now, bugs only nibbled at a couple. They've had to cope with all weather's and this week night temps predicted to drop below 10c. Will I bring them in, nope! Marc believes they benefit, and my Neofinetia hasn't dropped any buds yet.

@@orchidsgardeninengland1682 Nice to hear from you again Margaret and thanks for the tour.
As you know, I like to have my orchids out as long as possible but keep in mind, mine are outside since spring and are adapted to outdoor conditions. They are "hardened" as they say. My cool and cold growers stay out practically, if completely outside all year round. Although many go in the sheltered area were I can control watering. However, when night temps go to 10°C or a bit lower, that's my cue to bring in the warm growers like Cattleya's, Laelia's and certainly the Phalaenopsis. The anceps can take some cold but don't over do it. Here we are still above 15°C at night, although day temperatures are getting below 20°C now. The Cattleya's that are outside, without protection hang under the overhang of the sheltered and are hardly, if ever rained upon. I do this to make sure they don't get to wet all the time. The Ansellia's are exposed to nature completely, as are my cold Dendrobiums and Laelia anceps but the rest is in the sheltered area. It's not just raining here any more but we have pouring, stormy rains, resulting in to real floods, unusual for this side of Europe at this time of year. Your Neo's and cool Dendrobiums can still stay out but I would start to think about bringing the rest in for winter.
      Happy growing.

Thanks for the prompt Marc. I've brought all my Cattleya types, Phalaenopsis, Scaphyoglottis and Holcostylis M S Sunlight inside. Checked them over for slugs and snails and woodlice. They will stay downstairs for a couple of days before reintroduction into the grow room. Tomorrow is our best day weather wise, then night temps dropping to 8c with rains. The Neofinetia falcata x Phalaenopsis equestris has sent out some fantastic roots, so I'm leaving it outside a little longer, what do you think?
