Every re-write, every re-shot scene, every re-edit, drives the final cost higher and higher - to the point it becomes impossible for it to make a profit. Make a script, edit and re-edit until it's good. Plan out the movie (story boards - there a thing), follow the plan and the script. It worked for years. As if theyre trying to make good movies. Thats not what Disney does. Disney buys IPs and sucks the life out of them until theyre dead. Like EA sucks the life out of game studios, and venture capital firms suck life out of anything they touch. These are predatory companies that can only sustain their size by eating smaller companies. That is the business model.
They dont care about the actual quality of what they put out. When an IP or a company is no longer profitable, they simply axe it and buy the next company.
The mistake Disney made is investing too much into Marvel for too long, expecting it to return profit. What they should have done is simply retire the entire company after Avengers Endgame and used the billions they made in profit to buy another company.
If the mainsrem media showed the true state of whats going on there would be change but they don't they actively lie to everyone to help the power brokers achieve there goals.

I'm glad you mentioned Blackrock and Vanguard as backers helping Disney to ignore the traditional profit and loss model. There needs to be more mention of corporate investors backing Disney so those individuals who are investing in these backers can reevaluate their investment in those companies. If they are giving money to Disney (0% interest = giving) with no signs of returns - that will affect my investments in those backer companies. In short retirees are taking the hit for these corporations appetite for political messaging. Once the backers lose investors - they will be forced to put the screws to Disney (and any other woke company - Hi Bud Light) for a return. Keep in mind that state and local governments also invest in these companies and are putting pressure on the backers to continue to support the woke message. Which is why elections are critical at this point as well!

The handover in Endgame from Steve to Sam always seemed like a poison pill. Sam was great as Falcon, why would he want to contort himself into a facsimile of Captain America? Indeed. To think the trope has been done so much and so poorly that I myself have soured on it. And I myself have a multiverse in my stories, but I try to keep them less mundane than “ooh, a slight difference in appearance” or “ooh a divergent path in the story.” A lot of that stuff I rarely use and it’s mostly for alternate timelines than alternate universes.

So if people really dont like something it easy to move away from it or dig in if people like it.

I hope Peltz is smart enough to know that 2 board seats aren't enough to affect change a Disney. Peltz needs at least 3 or more board seats to challenge or override the influence of major investors like Blackrock, Vangard & State Street. Also, Iger just appointed two new board members to stave off Peltz getting onto the board. The fact that Peltz is taking his case directly to the other shareholders indicates he is after more than just 2 seats. He's either going for enough seats where he and Trian have a bigger say in the direction of the company or he could be going for a complete hostile take over of Disney. Peltz still has the option to dump his Disney stock before it does damage to his & Trian's bottom line; which could make Disney stock drop further. We'll see what happens.

Even if Peltz got unlimited control over Disney, he would have to fire MOST of Disney's employees to turn the company around. AND he would have to replace them in a highly controlled way that prevented any of their ilk from creeping back in. I don't think he is capable of that. The best he is likely to be able to do is break Disney up and distribute its intellectual properties to companies who can better manage them who have already used that caution about their employees and culture, though finding even this these days is itself a challenge.
"Major Reshoots" has become synonymous with "it's crap" and "box office poison" for decades. I can understand the Disney employees who are Millennials and Gen Z not knowing this fact, but the Disney Executives who are all Gen X or older are ignoring it and still shoveling through the crap.
Instead of going major reshoots they should have canceled it like the competition did with Batwoman. Sadly they didnt shelve the flash and aquaman 2.

It's actually insulting to Falcon that instead of just letting him take over for Cap, simply and completely, they had to insert politics everywhere on top of it. They don't have the courage to just have a black Captain America (if that's really needed) and be done with it. And there is a limit to superhero movies. Every character is not a Spider-man or Batman, so you can't expect huge franchises from less popular characters. But what else would Disney do? They're out to maximize profit despite the inevitable burnout of popularity.
There are definitely not out to maximize profit. They don't even want profit. How much has definitely been made clear over the years as they continue to shovel out what garbage to audiences that care less and less with every release. Bob Iger acknowledges that they can't continue to put woke messaging in their films and shows, yet they are still doing it. The 1ST Captain Marvel movie was weird. If the story was about Carol realizing she already had the power to do everything she wanted & that the only thing stopping her is the villain gaslighting her, the logical thing to do is make her insecure & weak will at the start with flashback showing how the Kree subtly break her spirit. For example in her sparring scene:
_ From her perspective: both her & her instructor were unarmed, she has her power but he easily beat her, even when she sneak attack him with the energy blast, he then easily doge & break her arm disciplining her. Showing he is superior thus she should trust his teaching & going against him will have consequences
_ In reality: Her suit is secretly covered in sensors warning him all her moves while his suit is secretly enhancing him & in the next room there is a group of technician analyzing her & advice him how to fight. All in order to hammer in the idea that he is an invincible Kree warrior & she still has much to learn
* P/S: This is where Nick Fury is important. As a great spy he notice these gaslighting technique but also know she is in too deep to trust him so for the rest of the movie he is trying to find a way to expose the Kree

Went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Walnut Street Theater in Philly last night. It was awesome. Great performances, superb choreography, wonderful sets and a reminder of how great Disney used to be. No messaging other than the original, time honored ones of the original.
It was just sad the contrast between that masterpiece and the crap they have been spewing over the past few years.
Sounds like people will be crossing the street to avoid the movie theater.

Low scores in test screenings may be partially the result of "Disney fatigue"- by now you expect to be disappointed, so you are. The fact that they have test screenings at all suggests that there is still a desire for the film to do well. Yet there seems to be no ability to understand the cause of past failures.
I think it was WDWPro who put out a video that talked about this. The problem is that everyone in charge at Disney views The Message as the most important thing, and what makes a good movie or show. They don't care about storyline, they only care about representation. There's no way to make them change their minds and suddenly start believing that a good story makes for a good show or a movie. They don't know how to make one like that. What's good for them is when they can check all of their boxes, that makes it an amazing production.
When it fails, they think they must not have done enough representation, so they try to shove even more into the next production.
It's a toxic cycle.
It will never change until the entire upper management is replaced.

I tried Universe of Wokeness convinced that they could not possibly screw up a movie about the multiverse with Cumberhatch playing Doc Strange against a Scarlet Witch turned evil. The movie was so embarassingly bad that I went out the theatre before the end (when evil Strange takes the power from the annoying, chubby burrito brat), and I have never returned since then.

Bucky takes up Cap's mantle in the comics, as it should have been in the movies. Sam was never anything more than a B-Avenger character like Hawkeye. Its why none of those shows worked because no one cares about those characters and never really did. Cap and Iron Man brought home the bacon. Disney failed to find a replacement anyone wants or likes. They tried a lazy MCU For Her re-brand and destroyed the studio for it.
