Yes and we finally got what what we should have decades ago. This fine album getting a proper deluxe 2 CD plus DVD treatment, plus 2 tracks the silly cow and family and shit=arse label SHOULD have insisted be made available back in 1983. I mean not making 'Sail On' and 'Rain On' even B-sides on 12"s of 'House Of Salome', 'Stay Awhile' or 'Bitter Is Better' when it was belatedly released in some other places in late '84. They should AT LEAST have tracklisted them up on "The Very Best Of Kim Wilde' wretchedly abridged Hits Package stuffily released by RAK/EMI to coincide with her first MCA new release October/Novemeber '84. They couldn't even do that. Always missed opportunities with her and them!
Mostly I was pissed what she and uiversal did themselves in 2013. Getting "Close" deliberately on "Catch's" 30th anniversary, especially as the former is so bigged up when compared with the even better latter, even by her! She still seems to hate it, the idiot.

A real upbeat tune n Kim Wilde's husky, pouty vocals make this a smashing number.

She has a lot of cool stuff. This track is practically a post-punk/goth song. Probably my fave next to Cambodia.

    • @kyachdistent1301
      @kyachdistent1301 4 роки тому +3

She always had, many of which are B-sides. Check them out if you never have-all the 80s ones are FINALLY available on the FINALLY available (though not very well or respectfully) remastered 80s albums. She's most underrated act ever, with songs WAY better than even the very best acts back then. How can she be seen as fluff or a little performing barbie when she has a catalogue FULL of what she has! Even her beginning's nothing like pure pop sop and yet Moyet and Sade and the dull aggravating Eurythmics, annoying Tina Turner and slagdonna are the women respected from the 80s like that's all! Even bubblegum trash Bananarama and Minogue. SAYS IT ALL!

"Together we are so right!" In other terms, 'Words didn't Fall Down', namechecking the other 2 songs there alongside this that made me realise all their parent albums were her career-best! Take that "Close" and 'Kids In America'!

Yes and that's where the UK was fucking up from day one. This IS a single everywhere as no one in a normal world would just allow their record company to just take 2 off every album or so. There's no logic anywhere-"Close" managed half its list as singles, yet is nowhere near as the amazing album this killer track is from! This was the 3rd single and then 'Stay Awhile' following a normal world.

I can beat that-cos I've known it's the Greatest Song In The World since forever-well January 1995 when I first came across an album I didn't know existed-how is THAT in this world-and by the end of the year it was finally released on its CD album in the 1995 'The Originals' box-set, though of course the edited 'Dancing In The Dark' and 'Sparks' sadly on instead of longer.

Sax on American records often sound cheesily naff and bleeding awful. In the hands-and gob of a talented brass hand backing up a class act, few things sound more amazing. Check out her other very sax-y (see what I did there?) songs: 'Dancing In The Dark', 'Stay Awhile', 'Action City', Child Come Away' and 'She Hasn't Got Time For You'-all of them amazing.

In my opinion, this should have been the first single - followed by 'Sparks' and 'Stay Awhile'. 'Catch As Catch Can' had so much hit potential. Even 3 more single hits would have been possible ('Love Blonde', 'Dancing In The Dark', 'Back Street Joe'). Such an epic album, for me it's the best Kim Wilde album, followed by 'Select', 'Teases And Dares' and 'Another Step', all from the "golden" Kim Wilde era 1982-1986.

    • @kyachdistent1301
      @kyachdistent1301 2 роки тому

Cos RAK are arseholes and they and a retarded and fickle and pointless 1983/1984 audience decided not to bother, that easy 'Kids' fluff and a bunch of dumbing down for 1988 "Close songs were more worthy, despite not having an inch of the majesty, imagination and awesomeness this does. It would have had an amazing vid too if money was spent on it, but by its March release, Kim had left one arsehole label for the next so I guess it didn't even matter to her, I mean look how she and Ricky treat one of their BEST albums ever-the album this is from, they haven't even done a song from it since 1994 and that was only the same one they bother with-and they barely do with that!

Shadows run in the heat of the desert
    Hands beat at the door
    Someone stands and calls
    For the name of Salome
    .
As the veils were pushed away
    He gazed upon a face
    He'd never seen
    Was she a dream ?
    .
He heard the sound from a distance voice
    You'd better watch out!
    You'd better watch out!
He heard the sound from a thousand years
    Calling out
    Calling out
    .
    In the house of Salome
    You have to surrender
    .
"Run with her" said the young handmaiden
    "She will be your queen
    All your life you'll live
    In the dream of Salome
    .
Take her mouth and with your hands
    Just kiss her painted lips
    Don't you make a move
    'till Salome calls you"
    .
As the music danced around the desert night
    He smelt her perfumed skin
    As they made love
    .
He heard the sound of a distant voice
    You'd better watch out!
    You'd better watch out!
He heard the sound of a thousand years
    Calling out
    Calling out
    .
    In the house of Salome
    You have to surrender
    .
Lyrics : Marty Wilde / Ricky Wilde

Now her new retrospective is out and, though this is on their, it's just a scant appearance on a disc not even included on the standard CD. Typical, while all the more basic love stuff singles get priority over the heavy stuff. Though every song almost is gutted and shredded to bits-she's the Queen of edits after all, the bonus disc of songs has a more spirited and intense selection on it, including this Best Song EVER.

In a normal world, No.1 in every country for about 20-30 weeks and 200 weeks in the chart! In a horrible world, losers RAK and Most squandered its release by pushing it out quietly without any promo, whisper, yell OR video in few territories as possible, and worse, all this done ONCE she & Ricky had left that bloody label, so god help 'Stay Awhile' as the 4th and Kim's then fav song from an album she's now despised since its release, so we all get to suffer, her having nothing from it live SINCE the album, discounting only 'Love Blonde' and even THAT hadn't been done for 2 decades. She's even done 'The Second Time' more. What's with that?!
