    New owner, new coach, no bench, no depth … just three all stars but with a lot of overlap and a lot of injury history. It will take a miraculous job from the GM to build out the rest of that team to a championship roster. Not impossible, but certainly improbable.

      The team is mostly intact. They'll resign their top role players and maybe have a couple new faces if DA gets traded. The same team that took Denver to 6 but add BB and subtract CP3. Boom!!

      If they’d take a different approach or even had a DIRECTION for the gm franchise after the 2019 season, things would looook a lot differently! I think the ownership move came too late & James Jones is far too conservative a GM for the current make up of our roster. We’ve got some chemistry but none of the depth has really emerged to fill the voids that are now Bridges & Johnson.

      The real reason the super teams haven’t worked is because of injuries. The Nets and Clippers couldn’t stay healthy. It’s rare a super team is formed with all the players being under 30, because it’s always older stars it means more injuries.
      It’s crazy Beal isn’t 30 yet but he will be before next season

      @@OscarUnrated Book is 26 and Beal is 29, the real concern will be Durant who is 35. KD is more of a hooper than an athletic type. I think he can stay healthy as long as they don't put a ton of minutes on him on the regular season.

    • @OscarUnrated
      @OscarUnrated 10 місяців тому +4

      @@cryptokey1986 yeah as a nets fan it was frustrating seeing KD get hurt every year and our standings tank. That’s why it makes sense to have 3 all-stars, 2/3 should be playing at all times. Suns were .500 without KD
      KD is weird though because even though he misses a million reg. szn games he’s been healthy every yr in the playoffs (since Achilles). I think it’s because the Nets & Suns didn’t rush him back, he’d get an injury and they’d say 3-4 weeks but it’d end up being like 10 weeks. Probably better for KD to play 45-55 games if it means being healthy in the playoffs.

Then yes, once LeBron went to Miami, he's always had a superstar or 2 for teammates, but the difference between him and KD is LeBron's been to 10 Finals overall, while KD's only been to 4... and those 3 were on a team that was already making Finals before he got there AND it wasn't even 'his' team (it was Curry's). The point is... LeBron actually did something productive with his super teams while KD has floundered most of his opportunities for one reason or another. People put dumb expectations on super teams. Just because you have a top heavy roster doesn't mean you're supposed to win. As good as golden state was even with KD, their bench was the difference in alot of series and games. Barbosa, Livingston, iguodala, Poole, David west, etc. Your top 8-9 has to be better than the other 8-9 that's just how it works.

  • @chili015
    @chili015 10 місяців тому +65

    My biggest question is: Which of the 3 stars is willing to take a hit to their statistical production for the betterment of the team? The only times constructed super teams have won championships is because the 3rd guy sacrificed personal numbers so they could win (Chris Bosh in Miami, Kevin Love in Cleveland). You could look at Kevin Durant during his time with the Warriors and see he was okay with getting 25-26 a game when he had been getting 28-32 with OKC, so maybe it's him? Beal is a few seasons removed from averaging 30+ and has only been putting up 23 PPG the last couple of years (mostly due to not being completely healthy), so maybe it's him? I think Booker gets his no matter what, maybe even being close to 30 PPG. We'll see how it works. I'd be shocked if all 3 split the numbers and got 23 PPG each, which honestly would be a winning formula.

    • @austin78993
      @austin78993 10 місяців тому +4

      It's also about who is going to learn to spot up to score. Other thing about those successful trios is Chris Bosh and Love totally change their games. They could always shoot, but they were primarily post up players. They instead started to space the floor and try and knock down threes. They stopped getting plays called for them - especially in the post.
      Bradley Beal has to be ready to knock down open 3s. That's not really his game. More of a midrange scorer, but he needs to be hitting threes and spotting up waiting for the ball. It's a tough role to have.

      All of this true, I think their biggest hurdle will be health. All 3 over the past few years have had issues staying healthy. 2nd issue I have with them is who will be the playmaker? I know Booker has it in him at times, but still don’t see him as a PG/ Playmaker. This can obviously be addressed in FA or possibly trading Ayton. Then there is all the stuff you mentioned with roles, this team has too many questions right now

Gotta agree Beal gotta be motivated and know how to contribute to the suns offense off-ball and play his best offense and consistent otherwise this big three won't work. Big threes usually don't work because the number 3 option stop being consistent which Beal gonna need to hit his mid range consistently in the playoffs. 3rd options usually have it harder than 2nd options because your getting less touches and contribute and be engaged in the game.

      Some people might think Book is better than KD now, his playoff numbers were great, but coaches don’t seem to agree. The Clippers & Nuggets defenses definitely were focusing on KD. Booker was saying every press conference how great it was that KD was shifting the defense’s attention.
      People forget about KD’s defense, he’s not an all-time defender but at 6’11” he can wreak havoc. It showed every time he was subbed out the Nuggets went on huge runs (KD +/- was -5 for the playoffs, Booker was -37).
      By midway through the Nuggets series they were doubling KD & Booker, and the Suns role players were missing wide open shots. Now they either don’t double or leave Beal wide open, I wouldn’t be surprised if Beal’s stats looked the best out of the 3 in the playoffs because of the defensive schemes.

He can’t handle being the clear 1, which is why his playoff efficiency has went down and turnovers up every season except twice in his career. Couple that with their roster flaws, I don’t see them winning it all. Yeah they’ll be a good team, better be with all that firepower.

    Suns turned out to be Denver's biggest challenge enroute to title 1. I saw it all the way but when the series was knotted up at 2-2 a lot of people thought it was a coin flip. And they had no game plan -just Book and KD taking turns. So at minimum the chemistry will improve from tenure and they'll have a legit 3rd scoring option. I think you have to peg them at #2 in the conference coming into next season. But calling them a superteam is clickbait. Beal is not a superstar. KD will be 35. If health permits, they'll have a chance to compete.

    13:35 JJ said by far the most important thing, that a lot of people don't know or CHOOSE to ignore because they hate certain player with 3 of his 6 finals loses being against GSW. And it is that in 2016 the salary cap was somehow dramatically increased by what JJ Reddick calls an "Anomaly" but i call "help from above" that allowed the 73 - 9 Golden State team, to add A FOURTH ALL STAR AND FUTURE HALL OF FAMER - ALL IN THEIR PRIMES. To top it off the "anomaly" allowed Golden State to also retain most of the supporting cast that contributed to the 73 -9 team. It was insanity. It was a Dream team among 29 teams. Those who understand basketball fron the front office perspective as well know that most super teams don't work because even a 3 all star / max players super team, means that 90% of the salary cap is assigned to 3 players, and the other 9 are basically either rookies or near retirement verterans on a minimum deal. That's how the 2010-2014 Miami Heat where built, thats how the HORRIBLE 2021-2022 Russell Westbrook Lakers super team was built. What Golden State did: 4 all stars in their primes, plus a quality supporting cast WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. Especially with the new "Anti Super Team" CBA.
