I disagree with you on the styling. I personally think one on the best selling points of the Murano is the interior and exterior styling.

@@jameslong4852 Agree! Even if one didn't like the style, wait until they change the style again! Seems what was so stylish then becomes suttle, compared to the next stylish look!

I love the styling and the ride is excellent. My biggest beef is a better sounding head unit with more sound controls. Over I absolutely love this car.

I own a 2016 Murano, LOVE IT. From styling to performance I am a big fan. This is the best highway car I have ever owned. So comfortable and easy to drive that a 6 to 8 hour trip is not in the least bit taxing. Additionally two things I would point out is the comfort of the rear seats and the gas mileage. The recline feature for rear seats make them nearly as comfortable as the front seats, not something that can be found in most crossover SUVs. As for gas mileage, I have on occasion gotten 30 MPG on long highway trips averaging 70+ MPH. Very impressive for the size engine! On a scale of 1-10 this car ranks a definite 9-10.

In my opinion the current Murano is definitely one of the better looking crossovers available. Many of the others look awkward or out of proportion at certain angles.
Five out of five stars for the front seats too...amazingly comfortable!!!

I bought my 19 Murano brand new in Jan 2020 and IMO it's one of the best looking SUVs on the market! Now April of 24 and over 68K miles later i still think the same! Absolutely zero issues. Just baby the CVT and change the tranny fluid every 35-40K and you'll be putting the odds in your favor. I call it my budget RX 350.

Failed to mention that there's a dark interior option that would not look so dirty.
The interior looks fine and the exterior looks great. Doesn't look at all like a station wagon or minivan, totally disagree with your remarks on all bad and ugly. Shouldn't even be in this video.

I bought a 2017.5 Murano SL-AWD with the Tech Package, Mud Flaps & the Bumper Protection this past Jan. This car brand new MSRP was $42,790. With good negotiations & a $5,000 dollar rebate I got the car for $32, 000 which is $10,000 dollars below the MSRP. So in my view the Murano was fantastic purchase and I am extremely happy with this SUV Crossover. As for its looks, I just love it...

I think it's one of the best looking SUV's on the market. I have a 2016 and I love it. I traded my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport because I needed something bigger. It's better in every way. Even gas, believe it or not. And I agree with the other people here, it is super comfortable. It handles like butter, and gets out of its own way.

WhenI was looking for suv I came across with the nissan murano and it was like love at first site. I like the design interior, handling, and I also like how people stare at you just like if you're driving a more expensive vehicle than what is actually is. I also got mine for a good price can't go wrong with the murano.

I gotta say I owned the 2008 Murano and love the car. No car problem what so ever and put almost 200k mileage in it. The car sure serve you good. One other important thing about the Murano is that changing the spark plugs can be a pain the hole, if you planning to do your car maintenance. BTW, I never change them and with 200k the car still going strong :)

I have the exact car pictured and disagree with you on the light colored interior. Mine has 43k miles on it and the steering wheel and interior looks brand new. It's just a matter of maintaining your car. Also LOVE the pearlized accents. Everything you didn't like was everything that attracted me to this car. But as you said, completely personal opinion. I enjoyed your review very much, thank you! I have driven a Murano now for the past 13 years and am on my 3rd one so I am partial to Muranos.

I love the design of the Murano. It's a totally eye catching and awesome looking crossover. I think it's even more stylish than the Lexus RX because it doesn't have that big ol ugly front grill. No way does it look like a station wagon or minivan. It's gorgeous in white with the 18" chrome wheels. You're right, your "bad" is definitely personal preference or maybe it's a guy thing. You're "ugly" wasn't even worth mentioning because you can get it with a dark interior.

    • @chrispierdominici3891
      @chrispierdominici3891 5 років тому +2

I agree with you Kammie on the grill. Hate that RX grill. Plus the RX handled like an old lady vehicle and has flat seats with little comfort for a luxury vehicle.

I just got my Murano after driving a 2003 Honda Element for years. I LOVE this car and have the black interior so no gripes about the ivory interior from me. I love the styling too. I'm a bigger guy and the car is super comfortable. I wonder how I lived without an exterior camera before now too! I think maybe leave your personal taste comments out of your reviews and they will be more helpful. We acted on our own personal choices when we bought our cars so no need to beat your taste drum.

My 2023 Murano has the cashmere (light) interior and they’ve changed the steering wheel to black but left the rest cashmere (light tan) so dirty steering wheel issue fixed. I love the two tone light interior over black in every vehicle I’ve ever owned. Personally I love the swoopy line styling of the body that you don’t like. I prefer a cuv/suv that breaks from the traditional “box on wheels” look that 95 % of these vehicles have so I’m totally happy with the styling of my 2023 which does look a little more coordinated than the older model years.
And yes, the CVT does play way better with V6 engines than 4 cylinder engines.
I’m old now so even though the Murano isn’t super quick it is more than powerful enough for this old man
    😊

Great video & review. I bought my Murano about 2 months ago. I love everything about my Murano that you mentioned in your 'Good' segment. As for the bad, I really like the design. I got a black interior and the pearlized trim is more of a silver trim that is more fitting and goes well with the interior. I have received many compliments on this aspect. As for the ugly, I agree about a light interior. I had a Volvo S40 and while the steering wheel was black, the rest of the interior was light. As a result, the driver's seat began to discolor as a result of my jeans (I think) rubbing off on the leather. Also, the A pillar on my Murano can, at times, obstruct my view, but I'm learning to live with it. Again, overall, a great video & review. Thanks!

I just bought a 2017 Java Metallic with Mocha leather interior. I love it! I love the design. Someone said, "It looks like it was shaped by the wind." The only thing I don't like, is I wish it had brighter interior ambiance lighting. And I don't like the fact that the passenger seat cannot be lowered or raised even though it is electric. I also love the fact that it has Bose speakers. It is so comfortable and I enjoy driving it.

I have not paid much attention to the gas mileage, but I think it's pretty good! I am retired and I have only filled it up about two times a month. I always try to get it filled when I'm at Costco because it is usually 20 cents a gallon cheaper there.

    • @teddyhenriquez5192
      @teddyhenriquez5192 7 років тому

Jae Montage I've been reading all the comments and it looks like you've been asking everyone that owns a Murano the same question about gas mileage. If you're so concern about gas mileage why don't you get a Prius. The Murano uses regular Gas so even if it was a gas guzzler you still not spending a lot of money on gas.

I too hated the styling when they first came out. However it grew on my quite well. It's not the squarish boxy SUV like all the rest. I have it in this same color. I put a bra on the front. I did not like the chrome lower panel on the sides. I wrapped it in some 3M carbon Graphite wrap. Looks awesome. I also did not like the rims that are on the one you are driving. I chose the ones that do not have the slanted look to the wide spokes. More conventional. Smoked the front windows to match the back. Drove it from Missouri to Salt Lake City and got just under 30 MPG while the speed was 75-85 MPH. Overall for the $$. I felt this was a great bang for the $$. Awesome job on the the video!

Nice Video. We got rid of our 2015 BMW X3 and searched for a comparable car for my wife.
We looked at and drove about everything in this class size (Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, Toyota..etc.). We bought a pacific sunset/mocha platinum model and have had it for about 5 months. My wife loves it better than her BMW X3. We have owned numerous Nissans through the years and they have always been excellent vehicles for us. We liked the MPG and that you did not need to use premuim fuel, like many others. With 5K on the vehicle, we our overall happy with the vehicle!

First we do like the styling, there is no other suv styled like it other than the Lexus, but I am concerned about the white leather steering wheel as I believe you are right on about the discoloration over a short period of time.

The exterior styling, in my opinion is nearly identical to the Lexus RX, but even nicer. I’ve had a hard time finding an SUV/Crossover that isn’t boring looking (like the rogue and pathfinder) and this one certainly stands out as one of the better looking crossovers out there. Not a big fan on Nissan’s big chrome front plating over the grill that they have on all their vehicles, but otherwise it has great lines.

I have a 2017, my 3rd Murano. I've had an '04, '09 and now this one. I traded my '09 in at 170,000 miles. Personally I love the lines, comfort and handling as well as the power. I also like the cargo space. I've never not been able to fit in there what I wanted to. A couple times had to fold the front seat all the way forward but..... The only thing I noticed on my present vehicle is that the transmission is not as smooth as my previous ones. Could just be mine? Overall very happy with it. My other car is a Mercedes SL55 AMG and I almost prefer driving the Murano!! Almost!

Nice ride but...when making a quick short radius turn, it stalls. Very concerning when there is oncoming traffic. Dealer says it is because of the way the CVT shifts. however the other 2 Murano's we have owned did not do that.

I'd say this review makes some great points about the Murano, though I would disagree with him about the styling, with exception of the taillights. I really like styling of the 2018 Murano, because it's eye catching and distinct against the others in its class. It's not boring looking like the Pilot or plain ugly like the Lexus. This is my second Murano, and the departure of the style took some getting used to, because the 2010 I had was a little more elegant in design, while still being distinctive, whereas the this one is a little blockier. It looks nothing like a minivan.
I do agree with him about the CVT transmission being a bit of a downer, because the new 8-speed that the 2018 has is considerably non-Nissan-like in its smoothness, compared to the 2010 (and my 2007 Altima for that matter), which shifted seamlessly and silkily. This one is much choppier in its shifts, especially when pushed hard in accelerating, with pronounced chunks at higher gears, and it often struggles to downshift cleanly when at lower speeds and one is modulating the pedal in more stop and go highway traffic. Mine was very choppy when I first bought it and took nearly 10K miles before it smoothed out and broke in more, but still is a bit of a disappointment in the sloppiness of it. The older 6-speed was much more refined.
That said, the new engine-transmission combo is nice because the fuel economy is markedly improved. I average 24mph in mixed driving, whereas my 2010 got about 19mpg. Even though the torque and engine power are less than the 2010, the vehicle doesn't suffer for the losses, and the tradeoff for greater fuel efficiency is worth it.
The comments about the tan interior are kind of silly. If you don't like a light colored interior, don't buy one with it. I have a gray exterior with the dark gray/black interior, and it's super sharp. The metal accents are much better than the faux wood ones of my 2010. My 2018 has more cushioning on the door panels than the other, and the plastic elements are higher quality.
I give Nissan a lot of credit for adding a ton of features in the Platinum vs. the LE trim I had in my 2010, and improving it in a host of other ways, without increasing the costs prodigiously. There's a ton of value in a loaded Murano that puts in on par with the BMW X3, Audi Q5 or Mercedes. The new Murano is considerably quieter on the interior than my 2010 was, and that was a nicely-refined vehicle. Ride quality is definitely better, though I'd say my 2010 handled a little better, with less lean and wallow in aggressive curve-taking - though the handling of the 2018 is still pretty sporty, and considerably better than most other vehicles in its class.
Overall I love my Murano and enjoy driving it, especially commuting back and forth two work everyday.

I have one complaint about the shape of the rear window at it's top. There is a gap that is hard to reach for washing. Otherwise, great ride. Nice inside and out. Feels comfortable and safe. VERY nice seat!. Easy on the eye black interior. LOVE the cameras!! My first moon roof...Fun car!

Funny, first bad point you state is styling....outside styling is the first thing that made me buy Murano. Not a fan of the typical square box of other Suvs.
Only had 2 days . Bought a 2018 Black Platinum , with less than 18,000 miles . So far, so good. Wanted something with style, been around awhile and better gas mileage than my other car, a 2011 F150 Super Crew 4x4!

I LOVE the way this Murano looks. Iagree... I think the black interior is much nicer. The yellow tone to the white is very dated (in my opinion). The gravity seats are unreal. The most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. The Bose sound system is amazing too.

My 2009 murano had a beige interior but my 2017 is midnight black . I love it a lot more. There's nothing wrong with the light color interior, but it requires more up kee. People just need to have there hand clean , & clean the steering wheel once a mounth & stop being lazy. I've always liked the styling of nissan muranos.

Nice honest review, quite frankly I prefer the older Murano, at least it stood apart from the main SUV crowd with it's funky curved front. This model tries too hard to be an edgy SUV and does not carry off the uniqueness of the older shape and just looks like a conventional SUV with a few spiky bits. The Murano is competing where the BMW X5 reigns supreme and has to try harder. BTW I did love the pale interior but anyone who chooses one will have to have a professionally valet every week, lol.

Very good review, I own a 2017 Murano SL and agree with almost all your points. The styling is personal taste so up to the individual. I chose the darker interior because I did not care for the striping on the plastic finish (although I must admit the steering wheel is a good point, I can't think of another vehicle with a light coloured steering wheel). My "ugly" points are: agreed on the steering wheel ergonomics, the volume control is out of reach and a distraction. The Rogue actually has a much nicer and ergonomically friendly steering wheel (for a lesser model). The front hood angles in by the wiper blades and often creates a glare with the sun, this is a safety issue and should be addressed by Nissan (they are aware as I have seen this in other posts). Finally, I have the Nissan Connect system, it is truly useless. many times the phone would not connect, I have worked with Nissan and have at some points been told to shut the car for five minutes to get the solution. When will car manufacturers learn that the customer does not want to learn their system, we want integration with Apple car play or Android, the two most popular systems for smartphones.
Good job on your review, too bad that some people trash your comments. You don't like the interior and others do, to each is own. You present it respectfully and so should not suffer personal insults on the comments section. Keep up the good work.

This is the second review I've watched for this vehicle. Ok I gotta say it makes me mad that everyone seems to want a black interior for a vehicle. In the lower 48 states black interiors are STUPID. It is too hot in the states for that!! I love a tan interior in a vehicle. The last thing I want is to go sit in a boiling hot car. (When we road test vehicles I won't even get in one with a black interior. I open the door it's like a wall of heat hits me in the face. YUCK.)
I love the styling of the vehicle too and that interior trim.
I think the reason reviewers don't like is because the reviewers are MEN. This is for sure more of a woman's vehicle. I think that's why men don't like it. Men tend to want beefy vehicles with clean sharp lines. I'm glad you did the review so we can see it though! I wish more women did reviews :(

So, despite saying that I didn't want a car with a black interior, I wound up buying a 2014 Toyota Avalon Hybrid in Limited trim, silver with... you guessed it... a black interior. I test drove a couple of Avalons in the lower Premium or Touring trim with almond interiors, but when the deal came up for the Limited, I had to go for it. At least it has pretty good window tinting and the pop-up rear sunshade, and the seats are ventilated, so knock-on-wood it won't be too bad in the summer. Plus, the silver exterior won't absorb as much heat as a black paint job (I hope).

I'm on my third Murano now. I have had a 2004, 2012, and now 2018. I guess you can see I love them. I do have to say the 2018 reduced the cubbies/storage spaces and I wish they didn't leave the cup holders open in the console. I liked the 2012 where I could close up all the spaces and make it cleaner looking. I also miss the storage tray above the spare tire. That allowed me to store cables, rain coat, first aid kit, things like that. I've never had major problems with my cars, except for tornado damage on the 2004. Can't beat that. I disagree with your opinions, but that's what opinions are, subjective, right?

The beige interior is so much better than the brown or graphite as far as making the cabin look spacious and giving it some dimension (I've ridden in all three). Is it a good choice for most? Maybe not, but if you're conscientious about cleaning and interior maintenance, then it shouldn't be an issue. In all fairness, the vehicle you were driving had been put through the paces already by who knows how many reviewers and their grimy hands. What you showed, is excessive for 9k miles.
Seriously? I don't think most car savvy people would confuse the Murano for a station wagon or minivan. So your comment, albeit an acknowledge personal preference, is a bit off . The styling queues are unique and set it apart from the bubble look on so many cars and crossovers these days. Of course sharp angles aren't for everyone but Nissan isn't know for main stream styling. This is why I prefer Nissan and Infiniti products, their killer engines and hard angled styling lines. Nissan can't be too far off since Lexus imitated their floating roof on the 2016 RX.
Overall, the Murano has it all, style, comfort, tech and performance in the segment it competes in. It's not for everyone, which is a good thing since I don't want to be driving the same thing as everyone else.
