Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed Poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed Then one day he was shooting for some food, And up through the ground come a bubbling crude (Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea)
Hooked up a well in eastern Ky back in the 80's that flowed so much oil it had to have wto holding tanks on location. It blew so hard that it blew oil out of the stand pipes on the first tank so we had to design sort of a set of big mufflers on the stand pipes so it would catch the oil and drop it back in to the tank. Didn't need a pump jack on that one.
Watch out Hiden and Heels up will make you shut them all down !!! My uncle drilled one that came in at 300 barrels and we thought that was something !! 500 great for you boys. I hope and pray you guys have been drilling smokers ever since !! I take it you drilled it with a rotary? We were cabletool drillers in western PA. I grew up on the walking beam rigs hanging on the Temper Screw. Now that was living my friend !
Sir, I want to commend your work. I've been out that way a few years back and guys were still drilling MUCH deeper than that...and to have nice steady pressure at the head...I have to ask, how did it pan out after a few months, year... Have you capped it since to sit on it for a while or still taking advantage of natural pressure?
How do you get into backyard drilling? Also how do you know if you got oil when you’re drilling? Also is it possible to dig all the way down and find yourself in an underground ocean of oil?
+500 bbl/day = 20,000 gallons/day = 833.3 gallons/hr = 13.88 gallons/minute. Yeah that might actually be ~13gpm. At ~$60.00/bbl that’s $30k per day. Nice money if you can get it, just don’t spill any.
Worked on a platform in GOM back in 1995 we had five Wells and the platform produced around 300 million cubic feet of gas and three thousand barrels of condensate at a flowing tubing pressure at around 8000 psi. Initial sitp was over 10000 psi (drilled in 1985) they were monster Wells. I
How did you know where to drill? I heard it costs about 30k to hire someone to drill the hole. Also that’s a ton of oil. Where do people pump it to so it’s ready to be transported and sold? I saw a video of a guy in Kentucky that had one of these on his land and he was making a killing.
Have you thought to throttle your flow so you can have a steady pet pressure and relieve the yeah how pressure slowly over longer. Of time that's maximizing your flowing output we had a whale that came in at 2,500 barrels a day put a needle valve on it set it to flowing at 140 PSI and it flowed for 6 months at a 270 barrels a day
@@matthewgreen8335 I have a brea well in southeast Ohio drilled in 83 but not used till last year with a plunger lift ,just installed a Jack on it seems like 1 to 1.5 barrel a day ,was told to blow casing pressure down to around 50psi to make oil do I really need to do that
@@rondenny5773 depends. If you're selling the gas. Then it might be more cost effective to install a compressor to pull the gas off and send it down the sales line. If that gas is used only to fuel on site equipment ( gas engine, heater/treater, ect.) Then yes blow it down. But 50 seems too high. Id shoot more for 25. By the sound of things. 20.83 bbls per hour. No rod BOP to change stuffing box rubbers. No double pack stuffing box. Little things like that would give me doubt. Clear nipple would be solid brown. I would think total production on lease several wells at Tank battery 500 barrels.
Oil is flowing fast so suppose it took 10 minutes to fill a barrel and will run for a year = 6 x 24 x 365 x 60 = $3 million. NICE! Now spend a few dollars on a bag of grass and wildflower seeds.
Is it legal in your country to get the oil out and sell it, cause last time I checked, most of the natural resources (even if found under my own house) belonged to the govt, and I had no right over it.
Cyberguroo Wardha What country are you in??? In the U.S. Oil or gas is not owned until taken from the ground. At which time they become the personal property of whoever removed them. In other words, keep quiet, remove it, and THEN inform whomever once. Contacting the Government will not benefit you in any way whatsoever. Just an FYI.
+Cyberguroo Wardha That is true in countries that are not free. Or say they are free but are not because of greed and corruption. In Canada and USA you own everything as deep as you can dig. My grandmother sold her ranch but kept "Mineral Rights".
You have to pay extraction tax on it. The government knows because selling crude requires contracts with buyers and transporters. These guys have to have dot manifest to transport crude. That sight glass is dumb as shit.
I'm a small independent oil producer in Texas with a focus on shallow wells. I can tell you in my professional experience that shallow wells do not flow under native formation pressure under 25 psi 500 bopd is Highly unlikely.
Hell yeah I bet you bought a new bobcat. That well is crapping golden eggs without having to push

This is amazing. I want to do such a thing in the emerging market of Africa so I am trying to acquire as much knowledge as possible.

I was always under the impression that you had to pump to get the oil and blow the gas off
Steven Sexton the gas lifts the oil depending on formation depth water cut and tubing size.
The only instance where blowin gas off the well is to relieve pressure in the casing so the oil can flow back in.
