  • Common Cannabis Nutrient Deficiencies
    -Mobile vs Immobile Nutrients
    Mobile- Can be translocated from older growth to newer tissue which means the deficiency of these nutrients will first show-up in the older plant material.
    Immobile- Essentially are fixed in place in the plant.
    -Chelated Fertilizers
    Chelated fertilizers are more stable and plant available sources of nutrients.
    This improved fertilizer use efficiency
    Fertilizers in this category can often be used as a foliar application in addition to being media applied which can help reduce the time a plant remains nutrient deficient.
    Nitrogen (N)
    Phosphorus (P)
    Potassium (K)
    Calcium (Ca)
    Magnesium (Mg)
    Sulfur (S)
    Copper (Cu)
    Iron (Fe)
    Manganese (Mn)

    Wow thank you for this incredibly informative video. It just popped up in my feed, and I'm just about to plant, so it was a very happy coincidence for me because you illustrated a lot of conditions that have plagued me over the years, and now I understand them all, after watching a 7 minute video. I do enjoy UA-camrs who put on a show, but sometimes I just want information and you did not waste one second, and used images to make the problems completely recognizable. You're a great educator. Wow, it's crazy how one little detail can really just bring it all together. Immobile vs mobile nutrients really helps it all make sense for me. Surprised this isn't mentioned more often. @Chelt Munt Ah I didn't know about the different pH ranges for specific nutrients either, though that does make sense. I always pH water to around 6.3 and occasionally check runoff to make sure it's close to that. At some point in my life I want to try a diy DWC or aero setup and I'm sure I will have to pay attention to that stuff way more lol.

    • @anthonyfaiell3263
      @anthonyfaiell3263 2 роки тому

      @Chelt Munt Interesting, I probably should be starting with a pH test before trying to solve deficiencies/toxicities through brute force. Luckily that hasn't bit me in the butt yet, I guess the pH maintenance on feeds has mostly kept my girls stable. I've been experimenting with mycorrhizal on my roots before transplanting to final container, as well as some beneficial bacteria. And I usually have springtails too. I hadn't heard of full live soil growing before though, but I guess that's another thing to add to the bucket list. And yea outdoor/indoor each have some unique challenges. Going from outdoor to indoor I noticed a lot of nature's jobs I just took for granted that were now my responsibility. And not dealing with pests and awkward weather is definitely a plus. But nothing quite compares to some of the gigantic monsters you can create in an open outdoor environment with a good season lol.

      If you are having to flush on a regular basis, you may want to look closer at your feeding schedule as there could be a way to avoid the problem in the first place.

    This is a highly informative video and I appreciate you taking the time to make this. I thought I was having nutrient deficiency issues for a year and it turns out I was using too much light I was running a 630 watt double ended CMH fixture in a 4x4 tent. If you can't figure out your nutrient deficiency issues and you're blasting your plants with light that might be the reason

    I have a plant with slightly yellowing new growth and droopy leaves on the ends growth as well. The stems are also purple. Is this a sulfur deficiency. How can I fix this?
    ?

    • @Nate-rd7gd
      @Nate-rd7gd 2 роки тому +1

      Purple stems are usually associated with the temperature of the environment, I wouldnt worry about them. Its probably a calmag deficiency, calmag also helps the inner cell development which might be causing the droopyness.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  2 роки тому +3

      Check your pH of the water and the purple sounds like a stress response to the growing environment.

      By not "Feeding" your plants like they are a friggin beta fish?? haha jkjkjk seriously tho....... gnome sayyin??
      Look..... real talk your comment was 5 months ago....so that plant either didn't make it or already has been harvested most likely... but here's the answer you were looking for back then.... Yellowing in new growth was overdose of Potassium.... Droopy leaves was overwatered soil or root damage from trying to air the soil with a stick......And the Purple stems are signs of Nitrogen Overdosing. What that plant needed to "heal" was a flood of biblical proportions to flush all the extra crap out and then a strong fan and a warm light directly over it and not water it again until you see it coming out of it and when the soil finally starts to dry up and the whole pot is lite when lifted you are safe to start watering again.......lightly.......without plant food......
      Here's a few pro tips fer ya:
      1. Most Basic Garden Soils are ALREADY TREATED WITH ENOUGH FOOD FOR UP TO 6 MONTHS. So there is noooooo need to feed a cannabis plant anything possibly for its entire life depending on the size you choose to grow it.
      2. Most "Pro-Mix" Soil Bags are basically treated with twice what a basic Soil Bag has in nutrients and need to be "MIXED" with regular earth soil or a few basic garden soil bags to balance out. "Pro-Mix" would be advised for a mature plant during transplant for outdoor grow only.
      3. Calcium is the FUCKING DEVIL TO CANNABIS it is an immobile nutrient that blocks cells and can completely fry out your plants from the inside out if given too much.
      I say this because I care...not to "be a troll" lol I soooo know i'm sounding like it
      but take the pepsi/coke challenge and see for yourself.
      Try a plant in a bag of like regular ass Miracle Grow for like Indoor Plants and do another plant however you were doing things before and see what it do before your very eyeZ.

    On the topic of Iron Deficiency what would the 'chelated forms of iron' be in regards to fertilizers? Thanks!

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  5 років тому +2

      I have a liquid chelated iron sulfate (sometimes listed as Ferrous Sulfate) product. There are many different manufactures the key is to look at and read the label of any product you are considering as it will state chelated iron sulfate. As a point of reference the one I have is 5% iron and 3% sulfur. Best of luck avoiding an iron deficiency.

    • @Hexadecimal110
      @Hexadecimal110 5 років тому

      @@DeBaccoUniversity I am having some difficulty looking for a dried chelated form of iron that would be safe for my organic grow. Would you perhaps know of something that would work for me? I'm looking to use it in a foliar spray but I'm unfamiliar in this topic. There is not much info out there for treating cannabis iron deficiency with chelated iron foliar sprays. Thanks in advance!

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  5 років тому

      I personally would suggest you go with a liquid iron product that is part of a liquid feed. Take caution when making foliar applications and start with a diluted rate that is less than manufacturer recommendations. Also avoid applications that are made under high pressure, time of peak light intensity and on newly growing foliage. Finding an organic source may be a challenge especially depending on what organic standards you may be using. Some of the better products for foliar applications will also have a nitrogen source. Any other question let me know.

    cheated forms of iron ? what does that even mean ? can any explain that for me please as i have an iron deficiency anyone ?

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  5 років тому +3

      Chelated fertilizers are ones that tend to be more stable and also in a form that is more efficient for plant uptake. While there can be some increased cost this is often minimal in comparison of the potential damage a nutrient deficiency can cause.
      You mention an iron deficiency and in this is an immobile nutrient which makes finding a chelated form of even higher importance. This is because this nutrient (along with other immobile nutrients such as Ca, S, B, Cu) can be more difficult to translocate (move) in a plant so it is harder to get these to the portion of the plant that needs the fertilizer. In your case liquid forms of iron supplementation that is chelated would be recommended.
      Hope this helps.

    If you are haveing troubles with your grow the very first thing you need to learn is how to stabilize your ph,,,,in hydro grows the cause for 99% of problems are caused by ph swings,,learn how to stabilize ph then you eliminate 90% of your problems,,then you start really growing

      You are correct and knowing what the pH can be part of some growers battle, so getting a quality monitor should be part of the growing item check list.
