The strategy i like to employ for danzig is call poland into an offensive war promising land then when danzig declares independance declare on them and vassalise danzig then eat konigsberg in the defensive war you inherit
im a little late, but the tactic I use is to focus the largest army first, stackwipe it, which is easy to do early game generally as long as you have a decent general from estates. Then stick 1 unit of troops on each province to hold them from making any mercs, and hunt the smaller armies down. As BB you can make about a 12 stack at the start and the nations you usually fight around you have 6-9k, and you can win an even matchup easily if you catch them out on a fort.
You have to get a big nation like a france/Bohemia/Poland/Austria and wait for the favors to build up if that happens. Otherwise free cities are good allies.
Right, the event has mean time of only 44 months, meaning you should get it around 1448, before Poland's truce runs out. The best scenario is to get it in around 1447, complete the mission to get permaclaims on Pomerania, wreck Pomerania and vassalize (but take Stolp for land connection) in 1448, then mobilize on the Teutons by December 1449 with Polish help.

@@gabrieltopdetonahard1370 if a nation is being attacked by several separate nations, i.e. multiple wars, and you manage to get enough warscore to vassalize said nation, you will then be the defender against the other attackers. thus you will be able to call defensive allies. for example, if budgetmonk vassalized the TO instead of taking all their provinces, he would've "inherited" the war poland declared from the TO because he is now the overlord. this does not work obviously if you're fighting the same declared war where you call in your allies.

I'm dissappointed how you didn't talk about how easy it is to get a PU over bohemia... This allows calling Poland in on promise of land and waiting until he leaves out himself so you don't break promise to give land, while waiting you can attack danzig if it spawns, since Poland is in a war with you, he won't join danzig... from there if you vassalize danzig before its war with the teutons finishes you take over that war as war leader and makes it so that you can make sure Poland doesn't grab any TO lands... After that it's up to you if you want to wait until Poland peaces out with bohemia on its own (He will take some silesia lands) or you can break your promise and just peace out for a union with bohemia.

Good job Monk however you could actually have it done better: 1. Don't take loans, just build your forces. 2. Take Neumark in the Event (it will only fire if you have less than 3 loans), 3. Complete mission to get free claims in Pomerania. 4. Take Province from Pomerania and vassalize them for 0 diplo. 5. Get missions for Prussia and fight TO.
David M that becomes very unsustainable if you’re going for a 1450 conquest of Danzig, you really need to get emperor of HRE for manpower to avoid mercs, which is very rng heavy run.
Do you have any tips for playing Ottomans? I mean yeah Ottomans are pretty easy but im not that great at the game and I don't have any DLCs. Where should I focus my expansion? Balkans/Europe or Asia and Africa?
I say in the early game ignore Europe for now. With how crazy the coalitions can get up there with the German and Italian minors it’s best to ignore Europe other the eating Wallacia, Seria, and Bosnia but other those nation ignore the rest of Europe for now. Focus in Africa and Asia and deal with the Mamaluks. Try to expand into Russia as well before the become to big since there orthodox no one in Europe cares about them so take as much as possible from them. I wouldn’t get to deep into Europe until you you finish off North Africa and start to attack the Iberia states since by that time Europe will be divided by the reformation and it will be far enough away from the German states and will allow you to take Spain’s colonies allowing more places to expand to without needing to colonize yourself. I say the same if you get up high enough into Russia and go after Scandinavia, since their land is usually poor and are their own culture group you should be able to take lots there land without driving up a coalition especially post reformation. I also recommend you to threaten war with any nation that you can to take a province in Europe especially in the Italian peninsula. Even if they are poor provinces they don’t produce to much expansion and you won’t need worry about coalitions if you mostly ignored Europe, not only will they allow you to landing points to put troops at but will allow you to use the holy war cb on those nations.
Ok so no matter what I reload I can never get Burgundy to get a RM the opinion modifier you show is +12 for 25 opinion and I get 6 for the same opinion level I am running all dlc 1.28.3.0 Spain. What are you running or not running to change the modifier by this?
I got to the war where you can annex the Teutons, but it always gives me a massive coalition that'll declare war on me, and I can't win against them. Poland+Lithanua still stays as an ally, as does Austria and Burgundy (or sometimes England, I seem to be able to get them as well), but we're simply outnumbered in the war.
In one of my games, Pomerania allied Scotland, which would've been terrible, but it was actually great. Scotland gets embroiled in the 100 years war pretty quickly, and so they start to get exausted and then wouldn't answer the call to protect Pomerania, which means they only had one OPM instead of two defending them. That was an easy easy war.
Nice vid, had many Brandenburg games fail due to aggressive expantion. But on another note, can you please upload the stream you did on Imperator Rome?
I got my best prussia game current version to the point where I am actively beating coalitions into the floor with my ally the british empire, france is dead, the HRE is soon going to be declared ded, the ottoblob is being killed by my former ally Austria, russia is now prussia, scandinavia is also mostly prussia barring bits of sweden that I left for the Sami people as a meme, along with other meme unicorn nations, like a OPM Estonia in the depths of northern central russia because funny. But I lost the game, sort of. Prussia lost its hozenholler dynasty and got the Lancaster Dynasty, which means that I have gotten the british empire in a PU; and its as big as the real one was minus india, so now I sit at 2500 development, a peacetime army of 300.000 prussian space marines with a british auxilia of around 200.000 and their massive navy on autopilot to allow me to rule the seas! problem is they are disloyal, I am constantly waging a world war with 15 year breaks and have been for over a century, I am steamrolling all opposition but it is just not enough I fear, mostly because I am pushing my unrest and revolts to the limit so my army is kinda busy and manpower in short supply, even with 200k in reserve and 300k in the field I cannot beat the horde of...well lets call them minors, because if I have to do that, austria will knock me out, because they are sitting right outside constantinople preparing to destroy the ottomans and russia is a cursed territory that contains about 6 different states, and I am fairly certain pskov and novgorod are among them!

Sorry for the confusion. I kept saying 1500 when I meant 1450 by mistake. The idea is to declare around the end of 1449. And Call Poland to arms by offering land.
this doesnt help me. i play on very hard. the game hates you on that level and burgandy will never ally you. also do you mean 1450 instead of 1500? giving land to Poland from Hungary... damnit that's genius i never though of that.
Complete the age objectives. Take the AE reduction. Do not fully annex him just do it in multiple wars. Poland has a truce anyway. I wanted to prove how you can expand and keep Poland happy.
After trying this start a few times I find this video frustrating. The level of savescumming here is incredible. Just a few points: - The strategy of royal marriage with Burgundy requires diplomatic advisor. I'd guess that the chance of this is maybe around 50%. The fact that Burgundy, Austra and Poland did not declare one another as rivals is also very curated. I'd guess that BudgetMonk started the game at least 10 times before getting the favorable starting save as we see here. - BudgetMonk was incredibly lucky with generals. His ruler is Shock 3 and Siege 3. I'd say that chance of having such a general may be less than 5%. Without the siege the wars could not go as well as they did here. - Speaking of wars, this video contains an incredibly favorable setup of alliances. The first war was incredibly lucky of having 3 weak nations close to each other. He raked in money and power projection. The second war with Pomerania where its only ally was Frisia is also very lucky. - Let me not even get into the luck of getting the third war before 1450. Obviously this is only possible because of siege 3 general. My guess is that to have favorable position to declare war as Budget Monk had here requires huge amount of luck. I'd guess that he savescummed the previously saved favorable position maybe dozen or more times so that he could get the wars he did. Needless to say there should be part 0 of this "tutorial" that shows how to properly save-scum the way into starting off well. Otherwise it will just frustrate people who think this helps them in their Brandenburg run - as can be seen reading comments of people here who think they are bad at the game by not achieving such an expansion this quick.
If by "savescumming" you mean creating a new game when something goes wrong, then he surely did, nothing abnormal here, lots of smaller nations require luck to start well.
@@TheMops14 He created a new game multiple times to get the starting conditions right - like proper advisor, Siege 3 general and incredibly lucky set of alliances between neighbors. Then he played the game at least dozen of times to get the result he had. Now I do not care for people doing this. But this video is called "tutorial". And apparently plenty of newbs try to replicate his run being constantly frustrated not realizing how highly curated this game is. If BudgetMonk at least admitted and informed newbs about all the way he set himself up for early success this would be fine by me.
You can take Danzig, Koeningsburg and Memmel, in the first war, aslong as you give Poland Kulm, and Lithuania some Livonian order land, Poland will not break the alliance, aslong as you keep releations up. I have played BB many times, and i've always taken Danzig and Koeningsburg atleast, Memmel might be occupied by Lithuania if they have a claim and you dont get the siege. I think this was harder in the past, where Poland more easily broke the alliance. Second war, you take the rest, and Poland will still not break the alliance, either call Poland in or take care of it your self if you dont have the favours, just get the occupations, incase Poland declears too.
We can't do this steps in this patch, we cant marry with burgundy with sending insult to denmark and brunswick usualy gets ally with bohemia, pomerania got ally with polond some times. And rarely mecklanburg ally with lithuania and this game lithuania not going pu poland chose the king, so brandenburg sucks in this patch or im a bad player xD can you make a another video for brandenburg please ?

How can I even get poland to join the war, since they have a truce with the TO until January 1450?

Where is episode 2??
MUSIC INTENSIFIES!!
Excellent !
After trying this start a few times I find this video frustrating. The level of savescumming here is incredible. Just a few points:
- The strategy of royal marriage with Burgundy requires diplomatic advisor.
Great video
гуд!
how does he maintain manpower with all these early wars?
He hired 4 mercs in the very beginning. Mercs are very manpower efficient since they always fight in the front line, while only draining your money.
@@horstschlemmer9578 damn didnt know that thanks
Yo could you do a world conquest and create großdeutchland
@Adolf Schinkler Thats where you from kiddo
I'm so far behind on expansions I feel like there's no point in playing now. It's sad cause I love tgd game.

I think the neumark event can't fire when you have more than 4 loans therefore I would recommend that you build normal troops Instead of mercs.
indeed you are right
We can't do this steps in this patch, we cant marry with burgundy with sending insult to denmark and brunswick usualy gets ally with bohemia, pomerania got ally with polond some times. And rarely mecklanburg ally with lithuania and this game lithuania not going pu poland chose the king, so brandenburg sucks in this patch or im a bad player xD can you make a another video for brandenburg please ?
I've done all this without too much actions as he did in this video up too 1470. This game clearly depends on random options every single time.. maybe that's why we play this map for 20 years already
So helpful, makes my gameplay after 500 hours look pathetic 😂

Sangat hebat ...
Came here to hopefully learn how to play EU4.... it was like watching a blitz-video of a grandmaster chess player when you just barely understand how the pieces move....
i love your vids
It's so confusing to repeatedly hear 1500 and realize after the 5th or so time that you ment 1450. You should edit that part if you can.
