Funny how you mentioned Halford when this vocalist (Tim Owens) actually sung for Judas Priest during the period Halford was absent. Halford came back to Judas Priest not too long before Owens joined Iced Earth and recorded this exact album.
Actually, Tim was just doing guest vocals on The Glorious Burden since Matt left during recording. While Tim was recording his vocals for the album, Priest reunited with Halford leaving Owens out of a job and Jon picked him up and then fired him via email two weeks before Christmas 2007 when Matt said he would come back for The Crucible of Man album.
@@jeffbudd7678 Because it was two weeks BEFORE the holiday it was wrong, but if he waited until two weeks AFTER Christmas it would have been okay? Maybe I completely misunderstood your point (if so, I apologize), but that's some B.S.
Fun fact, the singer for this song, Tim Owens, actually was Rob Halford's replacement in Judas Priest for a while. So it's no surprise you guys picked up on the Halford influence in his singing style.
The guy who sings this song replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest. Now he participates in Charred Walls of The Damned, band founded by Richard Christie and Steve Di Giorgio(former members of Death).
so many iced earth songs to pick from you chose one i have never heard, and its without barlow. a question of heaven, melancholy, watching over me, dark saga and the list goes ever on.
Also, the vocalist on this song is Tim "Ripper" Owens. He actually replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest when Halford left to form the band Fight. Owens is also who the movie "Rockstar" with Mark Wahlberg is about.
you know, the problem with Iced Earth is that people love them but for some weird reason they forget about them. Now lets try to get a reaction to a song performed by Barlow, the definite voice of Iced Earth.
Right!! Such a good combination of both Blind Guardian and Iced Earth. All three of these bands are life to me. I hope they react to more! Honestly this song wasn't the best for a first reaction, I would have chosen something like Melancholy or Nightfall, even Battlefield woulda blown their minds!
When these guys had Barlow, they used to be one of my favorite bands. This album was ok, but they have so much better material. Check out songs like Question of Heaven or The Coming Curse.
I agree on Matthew Barlow and Question of Heaven. Considering that Vin and Sori are Christians I would also recommend Melancholy (the song about Jesus). . . whichever song they choose definitely the live version off Alive in Athens album would be best.
Radkon Psygami I don't like live performances so I will always recommend album versions. Athens was a great show but nothing beats the sound of an album, imo
Rob Jarrett Yepp it definitely has their influence lol. I’ve been working more on their older stuff from Stormrider. I still hurt after playing those gallops😂
favorite band. They tend to go unnoticed. Some good shiz is high water mark, a question of heaven, ten thousand strong. dantes inferno, burnt offerings, creator failure. the phantom opers ghost. All GREAT songs. Theres a lot more too but those are some of my favorites. Hope you do some more iced earth vids. Keep up the good work
I would love to see someone react to Precious Jerusalem or Punishment Divine from Blind Guardian. But IFTOS might be a better introduction to the band.
I don't know if they would care about the fantasy setting for that song...I think Precious Jerusalem or Punishment Divine would be better choices. I would say Sadly Sings Destiny as well. I mean most of Blind Guardians songs are based on books anyway. I wonder if they would understand what "Fly" is about....lol.
Songs from anato are very hard for blind Guardian beginners, something off of imaginations' or nightfall' Would be the best I think. Bright eyes would be a great song too!
Guys, listen to "Gettysburg 1863". It's from the same album. This song is divided in tree parts. Each of the three songs represents one day in the Battle of Gettysburg. The songs are "The Devil to Pay", "Hold at all Costs" and "High Water Mark" .
THANK YOU SO MUCH! FINALLY SOME POWER METAL!!! I saw "iced earth" and liked without even seeing yet. This albun was released after 9/11 and is very pratiotic, as Vin said in the beginning. The vocalist at this albuns was Tim "The Ripper" Owens, that also was in Judas Priest for while. He came in to Judas after Halford left for his solo career and was picked-up from a Cover Band for the similarity of his voice. I highly recommend Angels Holocaust or Dante's Inferno from the live albun Live in Athens. It's with my all time vocalist of power metal Matt Barlow.
I thought that Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Obituary, Millenium), who just past away a couple of weeks ago, RIP, played the solo on this. But reading the liner notes he only did solos on 5-6 songs and this wasn't one of them. All the guitars on this are by Jon Schaffer.
Ralph was on this one. A few of the others were done by Jim Morris, the producer Rest of this lineup: Jon Schaffer: Rhythm/Lead Guitar and Vocals Tim Owens: Vocals Richard Christy: Drums James MacDonough: Bass Matt Barlow: BACKING Vocals
Vin, it’s very common founders set higher levels at their times. Since then, at any rate! Iced Earth are historical themes devoted and had many songs about U.S. history, not only about the your revolution, but about your Civil War.
If you're gonna do Iced Earth, you absolutely must, must, must, must, MUST do Dante's Inferno. One of the greatest metal songs ever written. It's a long song but it's a masterpiece ;)
I was actually thinking about you guys reacting to this song this past week. It was kind of cool to see it. The Clouding would be a great one to react to.
Pretty surprised you guys did Iced Earth, brought back memories. Would love if you guys do some deep cuts of maybe their Night of the StormRider or from Burnt Offerings
That's my man Richard Christy from the Howard Stern Show and the band Death (Who you already listened to on Flesh and the Power it Holds). Dude's a monster.
Jobforapelli ICED EARTH and SAVATAGE are both some of the most underrated bands. Both are from Tampa area. The vocalist at this time in ICED EARTH was Tim "Ripper" Owens, who had a JUDAS PRIEST tribute band until... FATE came along and wouldn't you know it, Rob Halford left JP and JP asked Owens to step in and replace him. He performed VERY Well. When Rob Halford returned they all made the transition on good terms. In ICED EARTH he did an excellent job. The song GETTYSBURG is absolutely incredible.
Eeeeh they're not underrated. Their early stuff was great but lately they release the same songs over and over. They are a shadow of what they used to be imo
Disclaimer: Barlow IS Iced Earth's best singer... "BUT".... Ripper Owens 'brought me' to Iced Earth when he was removed from JP.... So, I discovered Iced Earth and Barlow through this move.... "BUTTTT" This still "IS" one of their best albums....musically and vocally....fuck the haters!!!! "BUTT" Dark Saga and SWTWC with Barlow are BEYOND Phenomenal!!!
Tim "Ripper" Owens, who sang for this album by Iced Earth also was a former singer of Judas Priest (post Halford), fun side fact, on Iced Earths album "Horror Show" the drummer was none other than Howard Stern show's Richard Christy! (Who also drummed for legendary band "Death")

“Winter” (music video) - Oceans Of Slumber Reformed band and up and coming with their second album just released. Would be great for your underground artist reactions. Attempt #20? lol
One of my all time favorite bands. Don't care for this song too much but I'm glad you reacted to them. Hope you do some more. A Question of Heaven would be great!
They need to do the live version with Barlow, Metal Camp Open Air 2008. Same show they did Dracula, that’s awesome as well. ua-cam.com/video/PGM1CGv1J-U/v-deo.html
Thnx for doing Iced Earth, such and underated band....they have changed singers a few times... But all have been awseome. Check out Anthem or Black Flag!!##
6:50 that’s Tim “Ripper” Owens who replaced Rob Halford for the album Jugulator. Even though the album wasn’t popular, he was chosen for a reason, because he Rips. I don’t think Priest made ang more albums after that until Rob Halford returned for Wings of Retribution.
Singer in this song is Tim "Ripper" Owens who was also in Judas Priest as substitute to Halford. But still, you should react to their songs with Matt Barlow, guy is one of a kind.
Man, I love Vin. I like the quote "They set the bar higher than themselves". That's brilliant. I also love the bit about judging past people by today's standards. The way some people do that is ridiculous and we shouldn't ignore them or ridicule them. We should learn from them. With regard to rights, it is pretty clear to me that any government gives us our rights. Most constitutions have similar things in them about freedom of speech and freedom of religion but a lot of countries don't operate like that because they can choose what our rights are. As for the song, I love it. I love this album. All the songs about on it are about war in some way.
That is Tim Owens on vocals, who actually replaced Halford in Judas Priest for a time. Listen to older Iced Earth with Matthew Barlow. New Iced Earth singer Stu Block is really good too. Nice pick for today.
Vahalla is the Golden Hall. Their are Viking warrior woman called Valkyrie that were fallen female warriors. The Vikings were some of the most dedicated advocates of their woman being fit strong and battle ready. It wasn't uncommon to see a woman of the time strapped with a shield on their back. So you can breathe and relax Sori. The Vikings were the first to incorporate female badasses. Love you guys. 1st time comment, long time viewer. Maybe check out "Melancholy" or "Watching Over Me" by Iced Earthpeace
In terms of who gives us rights, here's my take: No one gives us rights. Social institutions and the government give us privileges - things that can change, expand, or contract. We give ourselves rights, and only insofar as we're willing to struggle to get them. Outside anything written, anything said by someone up at the pulpit or the lectern, we have to determine what we will or won't demand for ourselves. With every relationship we ever form, we have to determine how we are treated, and how we'll react to a force or a person who tries to impinge upon those boundaries. Will we run or fight, will we talk or capitulate? You can say you have rights, but if someone can take them away, what do you really have?
YAY! You did it! So cool! Every year this time I listen to this entire album, It has 2 songs about 9-11. 2 songs about American reveloution, you have the Green Beret song, Napoleon song, and the EPic finale...GETTYSBURG!!!! You need to listen to Gettysburg...its so epic...but its long. You dont need to review for your channel, unless you want to :) But at least listen to it on your own time. THanks for doing Iced Earth! BTW...the singer replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest before he joined Iced Earth.
Posted this on your site just before you posted this video but I don't think it showed up: Hey guys, Love your honesty and in-depth look at things. Iced earth, you should listen to songs like watching over me (based on a true story by one of the band members) or melancholy or the old songs, they have plenty of them. A question of heaven is one of them.... And it is THE song i fell for, when i was around 15-16. It is amazing.
It's time for you guys to react to some Andre Matos songs!! Singer from the first and arguably best Angra formation (with songs like Carry On, Nothing to Say, Carolina IV and Make Believe), he later founded Shaman with awesome songs like Fairy Tale, for Tomorrow and Ritual. You should do it for the Awesomeness that was Angra and Shaman, with the best musicians of the Brazilian rock scene.
Fun Fact: this singer was only on this album. You referenced him to Halford, just so happens before Iced Earth he did 2 albums with Judas Priest while Halford was doing g solo stuff
One of my Favorite bands, Ripper did a decent job, but Barlow is what made this band special. Would love to watch your reaction to A Question of Heaven. Something Wicked trilogy (The Prophecy/Birth of the Wicked/The Coming Curse) would be epic.
YES! You guys finally reacted to my all time favorite band! I'm glad you seemed to enjoy it! Please react to A Question of Heaven, and Dante's Inferno, by the same band. :)
Love this band and a suggestion off the same album, is a tribute to 9/11 called When The Eagle Cries it feature tim "the ripper" owens from judas priest who took over as vocalist on this album. They have alot of great songs from the earlier albums featuring matt barlow, even there new stuff with stu block of Into Eternity as new lead singer are pretty good, but matt is by far my favorite
Thomas Jefferson actually suggested for the freedom of slaves in his original draft for the Declaration of Independence, but he knew that no one would go for it. They actually told him so.
I understand, thematically, why you did this song on 'Murica day, but if you're gonna do Iced Earth, you gotta go with a Barlow album. Dante's Inferno would be an amazing choice of song.
As others have said, you need to check out some stuff IE did with Matt Barlow - I Died for You, Dark Saga, A Question of Heaven, Burning Times, Dante's Inferno, Burnt Offerings, Dracula.. etc :)
This really isn't even top 50 Iced Earth song material. Travel in Stygian Pure Evil Dracula Damien Burnt Offerings A Question of Heaven So many better choices even if Dante's Inferno is too long.

The singer is Tim Ripper Owens the man who replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest when Halford formed Fight.
Do Iced Earth A Question of Heaven, you will not be disappointed!
i second this. one of my favorite songs. the Alive in Athens version is fantastic
The singer in this song " Ripper Owens " actually sang for Judas Priest at one time.
Fun fact, the singer for this song, Tim Owens, actually was Rob Halford's replacement in Judas Priest for a while. So it's no surprise you guys picked up on the Halford influence in his singing style.
Thanks so much for this! Made my day!!
Iced Earth songs to do:
Vengeance Is Mine
Dante's Inferno
Melancholy (Holy Marty)
I Died For You
V
Dracula
Watching Over Me
Add A Question Of Heaven and Dark Saga to that list and you're gold.
Dante's Inferno, Melancholy, Dracula or Damien would do it for me
No Phantom of the Opera? No Attila?
No Travel in Stygian???
The guy who sings this song replaced Rob Halford in Judas Priest. Now he participates in Charred Walls of The Damned, band founded by Richard Christie and Steve Di Giorgio(former members of Death).
Best song choice for Independence Day! Congratulations for our American friends.
Iced fucking earth baby !!!!! Love this band.

you know, the problem with Iced Earth is that people love them but for some weird reason they forget about them. Now lets try to get a reaction to a song performed by Barlow, the definite voice of Iced Earth.
Barlow is by far the best Vocalist they've had in my opinion. His passion for singing came through more so than a lot of vocalist in any other band.
Love Iced Earth, and Blind Guardian, and when they had a baby and made Demons and Wizards was pretty sweet too. Love Fiddler on the Green!
Demons & Wizards is great.
Right!! Such a good combination of both Blind Guardian and Iced Earth. All three of these bands are life to me. I hope they react to more! Honestly this song wasn't the best for a first reaction, I would have chosen something like Melancholy or Nightfall, even Battlefield woulda blown their minds!

Layne Justice fun song to play.. When I was like 23 I would play it for my friends and they asked if it was Metallica hahha
Rob Jarrett Yepp it definitely has their influence lol. I’ve been working more on their older stuff from Stormrider. I still hurt after playing those gallops😂
You guys do know that wasn't Rob Halford right? Tim Owen's from Akron, Ohio
Oh hell yes. Great choice, great band.

Vin, it’s very common founders set higher levels at their times. Since then, at any rate! Iced Earth are historical themes devoted and had many songs about U.S. history, not only about the your revolution, but about your Civil War.

song from their Burnt Offerings 1995 - - - Dante's Inferno my favorite - - -

One of my all time favorite bands. Don't care for this song too much but I'm glad you reacted to them. Hope you do some more. A Question of Heaven would be great!
If they do A Question of Heaven they should do the whole suffering Trilogy.
They should do travel in stygian or desert rain.
YES
They need to do the live version with Barlow, Metal Camp Open Air 2008. Same show they did Dracula, that’s awesome as well. ua-cam.com/video/PGM1CGv1J-U/v-deo.html
When the night falls
Hot Dogs - Germany
Nachos - Mexico
French fries - Belgium
Chicken Wings - America! Yes!

Blessings from Canada.
Iced Earth is American version of Iron Maiden. And that's a good thing.
absolutely !
Heavily influenced by the Maiden that's for sure.
It is unfortunate that the American does not value this great band ... And many countries they attract a large audience .
Thank you on this :) Iced Earth rulest!
Singer in this song is Tim "Ripper" Owens who was also in Judas Priest as substitute to Halford. But still, you should react to their songs with Matt Barlow, guy is one of a kind.
ICED EARTH-DARK SAGA!!
Cool for ya dudes and dudets...go for night of the stormrider!
FYI Tim Ripper Owen, the vocalist on this song, actually replaced Halford in Judas Priest. That's why they sound so similar.

Nice pick for today.
It's sort of funny that now Iced Earth have a Canadian vocalist, Stu Block.
I hope you'll check out more of their tracks!

Dante's inferno is more of a story driven and epic power thrash metal Song. By Iced Earth

Technically 4. 2 live and 2 studio.
And I requested Cathedral Spires by Priest which Owens sang on.
John Bonham I have a tendency to not count live albums
Anything with Barlow at the helm is a must. Basically pre-The Glorious Burden even though I love the GB trilogy.
Tim Ripper Monster ... iced best american metal band.
Another of my favorite bands
Helloween Keeper of the seven keys! Please Please Please 😁
Eagle Fly Free
kosmosyche yeah that too!
Great band been fan since 92 Gd reaction my friends
I like that you are reacting to Iced Earth, but what a random song to react to lol!! but I guess 4th of July makes sense
The drummer is Richard Christy from the Howard Stern show
Power metal baby 🤘 this song is strong and it's not like you've heard of declaration of independence before
A Question of Heaven, for sure

Finnish band SONATA ARCTICA :i have a right. amazing song!
Iced Earth - Dantes's Inferno you need to know this band with their most famous vocalist
P.s. Balboa is a Portuguese surname, very rare in Italy, because we hadn’t a Portuguese domination.
Fun Fact: this singer was only on this album. You referenced him to Halford, just so happens before Iced Earth he did 2 albums with Judas Priest while Halford was doing g solo stuff

+1 for question of heaven
These guys were badass live...saw them with hellyeah and volbeat!
Dissection - The Somberlain or Spawn of Possession - The Apparition
Vinnie Moore- Daydream reaction one of the best guitar virtuosos out there imo
Thomas Jefferson actually suggested for the freedom of slaves in his original draft for the Declaration of Independence, but he knew that no one would go for it. They actually told him so.
Yooooo that’s crazy!!
Katatonia - Wait Outside
I understand, thematically, why you did this song on 'Murica day, but if you're gonna do Iced Earth, you gotta go with a Barlow album. Dante's Inferno would be an amazing choice of song.
As others have said, you need to check out some stuff IE did with Matt Barlow - I Died for You, Dark Saga, A Question of Heaven, Burning Times, Dante's Inferno, Burnt Offerings, Dracula.. etc :)
Perseverance and patience is key.
That being said. Draconian - The Morningstar!
Love iced earth, tim "ripper" owens replaced halford when he left Judas priest so you can hear some similarities when he goes high, he's awesome
This really isn't even top 50 Iced Earth song material.
Travel in Stygian
Pure Evil
Dracula
Damien
Burnt Offerings
A Question of Heaven
So many better choices even if Dante's Inferno is too long.
It's funny you bring up Halford, as this guy was his replacement for awhile lol
Katatonia - Leaders
tim ripper owenswho sings on this also ironically sang on 2 judas priest records
MegadetH - Diadems
Good tune great band 🇺🇸🎸
