I like insurance defense. You don't need to be an a--hole and can help the injured parties receive adequate compensation for their injuries. And you don't usually have to worry about getting paid, win or lose, although the rates are lower.

The case with the parent giving up the kids for furniture, could have been my biological father. He said he wouldn’t contest custody, or try for the house (that my mum solely paid for) - if he got mine and my sister beds (he claimed they were heirloom, but they weren’t) and $40k. Mum only agreed as long as he paid for new beds for us, and she made sure we didn’t get anything expensive. Even when he takes his kids beds away, my mum has more class

HOA dude: my mom used to be a legal secretary before she realized how much she hated desk work, and also before me or my full siblings were in the picture (almost 30 years ago). Part of that office’s job was dealing with this 1 HOA that foreclosed on a couple memorable houses.
The first was a guy who’s lawn mower had broken and he was working all week long and hadn’t had time to fix it. He had communicated this with the HOA and said he would get his lawn cut as soon as possible. HOA wasn’t having it and foreclosed.
Then another house was foreclosed because their garbage disposal wasn’t working. Now how did the HOA know it wasn’t working? They’re not allowed to go into your house.
And this is why ever since I learned this I tell people you don’t have to join an HOA and they legally cannot refuse a sale if you refuse to join. Sure if there’s public resources for HOA members you won’t be able to access them, but HOA fees are ridiculous and the money you save from not joining can go to a gym or pool membership.

My divorce attorney told me to “Face it, he’s getting custody.” I pointed out that none of the kids were his and we had only been married for two years and he was an proven abuser and he just waved me out of his office. I was shocked. I knocked on his partner/boss’s office door, someone I’d known since I was a kid, and told him what had happened. He stood up and left the office then I heard very loud voices and then he returned with my file. He took over and I got my divorce and sole custody of the kids. Oh and a decade later the first lawyer became a judge and when I was appearing before him, as a representative/prosecutor for my employer’s legal cases, he would be borderline rude to me.

-when I was engaged to my (now) husband, his ex got all ticked and sent her attorney after ME (…like I was a home wrecker.) mind you, they divorce and custody had been finalized for at least 8-9months and I met him years after they’d separated. Anyhow her attorney was RIDICULOUS! I receive a discovery packet asking me “what business I had dating” my husband and asking me personal questions about my job at the time (granted I was being filmed for a reality show, assuming the ex thought I was making big bucks and she was entitled to it) Never completed the discovery packet of bullshit questions. Husband goes to court ( I wasn’t invited btw) her attorney opens with “your honor look at this whore!”
…..it was a photo of me. I’m significantly better looking and younger than the ex wife, so naturally I’m a “whore”. Unbelievable. BTW- husband represented himself that day and judge sided with him 😊 never returned to court again.

I went in for a public transit hearing about the price difference between a student and a non-student transit ticket. The price difference is $5 and I was a broke college student.
I showed up, with the transit ticket in question (it reads Student ticket) and was asked if I had a student ID. I did and ahowed it to the judge. The judge looked over the ticket and asked the officer who gave me the ticket if it is suppose to be an age restricted ticket (between 5-18 year old). The officer said yes.
The judge dismissed the fine and charge as there was no age restriction listed on the ticket. Just that there are student and non-student tickets. Apparently it took the transportation company a year to change the prints on the tickets. They now specify age pricing tickets.

DUI people never learn. My former BIL’s step dad got caught driving drunk on 3 separate occasions, only had his license temporarily suspended because he needed it for his job, and as far as I’m aware it took the people threatening to revoke his green card and ship him back to Mexico for him to stop driving drunk. Didn’t stop the fool from inviting his buddies over to get drunk at his own daughter’s birthday parties, which is just a whole ‘nother issue in and of itself.

Not a Lawyer but we ran through hypothetical court cases of historical figures where two members of the class posed as the attorneys, teacher was the judge and the rest of the class was the jury. Each pair was given their person then had one day to prepare arguments based on what was known about them in history and the following day would have our 'court date'.
When it was my turn to get an assignment the hypothetical scenario was if Hitler had been taken alive and brought to trial and I was going to be his defense. I looked the teacher in the face and calmly stated: "The only thing I will do to prepare for court will be to have a shirt made that says 'I would do my part to help my country but murder is illegal' and with God is my witness I will be proud to take that F and uniform suspension because my grandfather fought against fascism and so will I". The class cheered me on, making it very obvious what their judgment was going to be.
Our person was changed and I don't even remember to who anymore because this was back in high school, but I still remember the shocked look on my teacher's face with how strongly I felt over being asked to defend Hitler and was willing to poison my jury over my beliefs.

Right at the start of my career, I was the lawyer for a good looking woman in a divorce case, no children. We worked out an extremely, almost unbelievable, property settlement for my client. Some years later, I discovered that the reason that we got such a favorable settlement was that my client was sleeping with the husband's attorney during the course of the proceedings. I knew nothing about this at the time. I was shocked, especially at the conduct of the opposing attorney. I learned a few lessons from this, especially that I did not want to handle divorce cases, which I did not in the future. I had a similar case later, where the attorney got involved in a romantic relationship with his own client. He withdrew from the representation, which is an appropriate result, and subsequently married the client. They remained together until his death, decades later.

Restraining order case with my uncle was fun, ex girlfriend files and gets restraining order (it was on BS charges which the judge stated were bs in legalise several months later). My uncle is in his usual restaurant with friends when she shows up, he leaves to follow the order, gose to his favourite pub, she follows 30 minutes later, at this point he decides he won't leave, she screams at him to and when he refuses calls the police, two hours later she is in a cell as she had forgotten to read the order carefully, it's a two way order(they all are) since it was provable she did not regularly visit these place when he did and she followed him SHE had violated the order, two days later magistrate drops the order as my uncle shows that the order was requested for malicious reasons and community member vouch for him that the order won't be needed for him to avoid contact. The court case between them a few months later is a favourite family tale but can't be told on the internet as it has too much personal info

If you ever get accused of flashing someone or being inappropriate and it’s one word against the other…..
It’s not illegal to be naked in your own home. And it’s not illegal to have your curtains or blind open.
It’s easier if you were on the first floor (above the one you walk in to) where the bedrooms are. You can be naked at your window watching birds outside. It’s not illegal. If claiming indecency- your looking up at the birds- they’re looking at you.
^this is if your on a residential road in a house or something. or apartment.
If your watching the birds naked (NOT ILLEGAL) and they’re looking at you watching birds. Don’t make eye contact with them- if you do- you saw a bird/ butterfly/ something on the window. Don’t acknowledge the people or it’ll be harder to fight the case

What exactly is the reason? It sounds far more reasonable to continue the case and prove if the boyfriend caused those injuries, not throw it out and charge her with anything. 🤔

There were several parts in here where they talked about context was not set correctly or contexts was missing altogether.
It took me awhile because I'm extremely honest and people would twist things and nitpick certain words without the context to make me look bad. And then one of them was an individual that work say did you say it did you say it immediately after repeating something I said but did not say the entire statement which would have changed everything. So it wasn't until I heard a preacher make a comment that it is a lie to take things out of context and pick only portions of the statement which make the other argument valid. So therefore if the context is missing it is all right to say no that is a lie because it is, because without the context you didn't make that statement. And I ran in the same issue where an individual didn't want to hear the context.
So rather than using my honesty against me while they'll sit there and lie I would just tell the truth, and It's upsetting a judge and some of these examples acted that way without context since you're supposed to State the whole truth, not a snippet of it. And for judge to act that way really hasn't believed they should not be on a bench.

This vid shows how many bad , authoritarian ego fueled judges there are. When prople express their opinion in court, which they have every right to do (1st ammenment) they get thrown into jail for contempt of court aka contempt of judges ego. Disgusting
