I'm 60 years young and I've had precocious music taste since 1970 so you can figure out how many times I've heard the original version of this song. I figure the total number must be in the multiple hundreds of times. Even so, you are such a wonderful singer and guitarist Carson that you've made this song new to me. Thank you, thank you and God bless you. Keep making fantastic videos and occasionally slip one of your beautiful original songs into one of them now and then. 😊🎵🎶🎵🎶🎸
He really and truly did! I too have listened to the original countless times. I grew up with this song. Now here comes young Carson, and his delivery is so fresh, so sincere and so pure that I feel like I finally understand the deeper meaning to the lyrics like I never have before!
If things weren’t different, hell we’d all be the same only different, least ways that’s how it always has been directly.. if he’d a been born a jay bird nobody coulda done it better. The outlaw studio type posters got nuthin close to the real thing right here. I always was and it always has been. Coulda. Shoulda. Woulda. Amen, y’all.
Yeah, man, this guy, this Carson dude, major talent. Voice and voice and timbre, range, phrasing, and voice and voice...Good! Something genuine, someone authentic! Could we be approaching joy? Yes! This guy, he makes joyous music! Something good is happening!
It's not often that I hear a song that is such a beautiful blend of vocal quality, audio clarity, and video acumen (not to mention the musical composition itself). The AT2050 magnificently carried the timbre of your voice -- like I was looking right down your throat to examine each vibration of your vocal cords! The buttery smooth B&W video images were spellbinding. This is really a superb production.
He’s an amazing singer musician. I also listen to him daily and Josh too. They are definitely very dedicated and talented. It’s a beautiful thing to see these young folks and very greatful for them sharing their musical talents with us. Thank you so much sir
Once again, I'm just blown away. Don't know what I could possibly say that I haven't before. ALWAYS GREAT Music, Carson. In the REAL WORLD: this would have a Million Views, thumbs up, & comments. Soon. Thanks for this video.
Another great version Carson. I think the thing I notice most when I compare your recent performances to your older ones (and same is true of Josh, Reina and Toni) is the confidence that exposure and maturity bring to all of us. More confidence translates musically and vocally into less timidity and less hesitant performances. The confidence to let it loose. That's where the sound comes from. A timid whisper sounds shaky no matter who you are. Have to sing (or even speak) to the folks in the back row, so to speak. Your talent is unmistakable. Keep up the good work Carson, you are doing fine. Your picking has made the same kind of strides. Stay safe and well. My best to all your YT friends as well.
I love it!! You know, my oldest sister used to sing this song to me a lot as a kid. She would change have you ever seen the rain to- have you ever seen Lorraine. Haha :) Great job Carson!
Since English is not my mother tongue, I often do not notice English lyrics in songs. Then I just hear the music. But when a song is sung as intensely as your version of one of my favorite songs here, then I'm really listening. Thanks a lot for this (again) because you are doing this again and again. 🙏🙂
Carson, you are now my hero. I have listened to the original countless times. I grew up with this song. Now here comes young Carson, and his delivery is so fresh, so sincere and so pure that I feel like I finally understand the deeper meaning to the lyrics like I never have before! Funny what you have to go through in this life-in this world-before you finally begin to understand the lyrics to a simple song. will this neverending storm be over-When will we ever...will we ever see that rain-sunny day... I thought I knew, but now I know: Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm I know, it's been comin' for some time When it's over so they say It'll rain a sunny day I know, shinin' down like water I wanna know Have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know Have you ever seen the rain Comin' down a sunny day? Yesterday and days before Sun is cold and rain is hard I know, been that way for all my time 'Til forever, up on it goes Through the circle, fast and slow I know it can't stop, I wonder I wanna know Have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know Have you ever seen the rain Comin' down a sunny day? Yeah I wanna know Have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know Have you ever seen the rain Comin' down a sunny day?
Carson, do you have any idea how THIS Song is so 'in tune' with TODAY! Your GIFTS & TALENTS are BEYOND AMAZING. I'm at a Loss for words to express how much your music means to me. (& others, I'm sure). The World is yours. Thank you so much for SHARING your talents with all of us. I've adopted you & Josh as my Grandsons; & I couldn't be More Proud! Your videos bring me so much Pleasure & Enjoyment.
I've loved singing my whole life, 40+ years I've been doing it. I cannot imagine filming myself from directly head on, seeing how my face reacts to me making the notes. LOL Hat tip to you sir.
Gosh you're adorable Mimi! Plus you have top notch taste in singer-songwriter-guitarists 😊. P.S. if you don't already play a musical instrument I think you should start . I have an intuition that you would be very good at it. I'm biased towards guitar since that's what I play , but piano and violin are wonderful instruments too.🎼🎵🎶🎶🎶🎸🎹🎻
I don't think anyone appreciates Carson's guitar playing enough. Here it was completely perfect for the song. As in he just did enough to accompany his voice without making it over-elaborate.
@@ebennett7 my use of language was rhetorical. However if you instead wish me to be literal I merely need to look at all of the comments on the various videos and count the number of times that Carson's guitar playing is praised. You also could try this exercise. How many did you count other than this comment? Was it 0?
So very glad I discovered you and Josh a couple of years ago. What special talents the two of you have. And that voice of yours, Carson. Wow, just wow!!! (Can't wait to be in a live setting once again)
You got it kiddo! One of the key things I used to tell my students, for good narrative Form must follow Function. This song presents a personal conversation between you and the listener, and you stripped the visuals and the audio down so that personal conversation is incredibly focused. Add to that your melodic gifts, this is just a lol piece of gold. Well done.
Me too. I was initially disappointed that it didn't sound at all like Fogarty, but ten seconds in I decided it's better this way. No one can replace John, so don't try. I like this version as much as the original but in a different way. Nicely done.
Pfeeoo, I needed to catch my breath again after hitting on this one. Why do you do this to me? Posting brilliance without warning. Thanks a million man!
Carson, what a beautiful performance of a beautiful song. In two and half minute you pour passion and meaning from the heart. Your ability to deliver is enormous. One thousand thumbs up from me!
Thank you for writing down your gear in the description, Carson. I'd love to see a video of your writing/recording/mixing process in the future if you're willing to share it. :)
Well, that was brilliant. It's one of the saddest songs ever. Hearing you sing it made me think about how I felt in the early 70s when the war in Vietnam was winding down. My number was very low and I was quite ambivalent about the NVA offensives.
Another superb and beautiful cover Carson, Bravo! Love the song and never sat down to learn it. Funny thing is that for the longest time I thought on some of the verses he sung "Coming down are better days." Which works well too. Guess I should take out the guitar and learn this one. Thanks again!
What a voice!! So pure. I listen to Carson every day just to feel better.
Me too!
works every time,peace
I listen to Jim Morrison scream to feel better
Yeah he’s super talented
Me too. Especially lately. Every day.
Just a little bit of Carson and a little bit of Josh each and everyday of your life. That's happiness in your soul.
Agree. And I add a little Reina del Cid and Toni to the recipe.
For me in distant Europe this is the best that young America has to offer. Really good. Hand made music. And voices! What voices ... More, please !!!
A musician friend sang this as we spread my brothers ashes. My brother was a musician and vocalist as well. He would have loved your version, as do I.
Peace and Joy, May Heart songs always reach our souls. God Bless!
Carson singing a song of my generation = powerful
Also mine, but he is timeless and every classic is.
And he does it so well!
I'm smilin' all the way through.

SUBLIME ..!!!! MERCI POUR TOUJOURS .......
You have such a pure, genuine, emotional quality to everything you play. You have a gift that touches hearts. Thanks for sharing:)
Clicked 'like' then listened to your cover, relaxed in the knowledge you'd have nailed it. And, you did, again. Keep well my friend.

It would be cool if you and Josh cover Pancho and Lefty by Townes Van Zandt on your channel i think.
Great choice
Great Idea 👍
Yes please
Oh my dear child, that song was written by Merle Haggard.
@@Voirreydirector Nope it was written by Townes Van Zandt and no one ever did it better.
Wow what a voice.. 🧡💜🩷💚☮️
I heard this once as a kid as 'Have you ever seen Lorraine' and I refuse to believe I've been wrong ever since. Amazing cover Carson!!
I don't remember who did a version of 'crazy words' like you mentioned, but it says Lorraine was 'chuggin down sunny D'! :-)
“There’s a bathroom on the right”. That’s where you’ll find Lorraine 😉

Its weird to actually be able to understand the words to this song
lol true
Isn’t it terrific!
I have made similar observation on many Carson & Josh performances. Dylan material especially. That should surprise no one😉
We’re you not able to understand the original?? Might want to get that checked out if you couldn’t!!
