Glad your ok now buddy. Im wondering if it was a
    Puss Caterpillar.
Envenomation causes intense throbbing pain, burning, and a rash with erythematous spots. More susceptible patients can experience swelling, nausea, abdominal pain, headache, lymphadenopathy, lymphadenitis, shock, and respiratory distress
Ive seen similar reactions to yours.

I've lived in Florida over 40 years and last year, for the first time, was bitten by a large red ant. They've got two huge mounds in my yard. It was one of the most painful experiences I've ever had and the pain lasted days. Not sure if that might be your culprit. Hope you get answers soon, as that is very disconcerting.

Glad you're okay. I hope you can figure out what your trigger is and possibly get immunotherapy for it. I'm in my 40s and just out of the blue suddenly became allergic to bees, wasps, hornets (and likely fire ants, but haven't been tested). I was stung in my yard and within two minutes, I had rapid shallow breathing, an elevated heart rate and I became weak then lost consciousness and collapsed. I was so weak that once I regained consciousness it took me an hour to crawl ten feet to my phone so I could call 911. Not one month later, I was on a day hike with my wife and our dogs in an area without cellphone service and I was stung 5 times by yellowjackets. I took two epipens but still had the same reactions. I had labored, rapid breathing again, started to get tunnel vision and became too weak to walk. I didn't make it out of the woods on my own. I sat down and lost consciousness again. I rolled down a hill. My wife had to leave me in the woods so she could get cell service to call 911. I had to be rescued by the police, fire department and EMT's. My blood pressure was so low that their machine wouldn't read it. It was terrifying. I no longer do any hiking or even mow my lawn. I am getting immunotherapy, but it's not a foolproof solution. If you're going to continue to be outdoors in remote locations alone, always take your epipens (obviously) but take a PLB or a Garmin in-reach. I barely made it that day and if I were alone, I wouldn't have. And in the future if you start to feel like you're going into anaphylaxis, don't drive anywhere. Call 911 from where you are. Usually future reactions are worse than the first one that cause anaphylactic shock and you could lose consciousness while driving. I hope you can figure out what the cause was. I'm glad you're okay. Good luck and take care.

Kelly! Sorry this happened to you. I suspect it could have been a Velvet Ant which are actually Wingless Wasps. See them all over Florida and definitely walking around Wekiwa boat launch. Below is from a website I found. "Although velvet ants are very docile and rarely come into contact with people, the female velvet ant has a very potent and toxic venom. A sting generally only occurs if they are accidentally stepped on. If a sting does happen, there is the possibility of a severe allergic reaction occurring in some people that will require immediate medical attention."

She would have known instantly if she was stung by a "Cow Killer" as they are also known as. Their sting is one of the most painful of all the insect kingdom. My guess is a fire ant, as they leave a pimple like mark, just like she had.

I've been thinking about this since you mentioned it on Instagram. Definitely a severe reaction Kelly, you were in rough shape. I used to react violently to stings when I was young, but not now. Never been allergic to cats, but am now. 😐 Allergies are confusing to say the least. At least you have a defense with the epi-pen. I questioned the water until I saw the sting/bite mark. Hopefully the video documentation will help pinpoint a diagnosis. So glad you're ok now. ✌️

  • @Tazzspaz
    @Tazzspaz Рік тому +1

Very glad you caught it and are safe! I'm surprised the ambulance was not more forceful or convincing. You were definitely going down a bad path with that reaction you showed when first in the car!. I am very allergic to fire ants and wasps/bees/hornets. Been in the hospital twice for anaphalaxis. Your GI reaction is interesting I have never heard of that. My severe reactions included shutting off the airway.
You mentioned "epi-pen". Just in case you got the actual epi-pen they are really expensive. Look for Auvi-Q much cheaper and the form factor is more easily packable. Even if you use epinephrine the recomendation is that you still go to the hospital.
As for what it was or why it is possible for our reactions to antigens to change over time. It could be just as we age or with exposure. So even though a person may never have had a reaction to X it is not necessarily always true. The other problem is once you have had a reaction consecutive reactions can be worse as you become more sensitized. So Ms. this all means you have to be really really careful about your outdoor activity and being alone or remote. One thing that has certainly helped aside from the allergy shots is to stay calm, cease activity, take a good dose of benedryl, and when possible I add ice to the site of bite/sting.
I have been getting allergy shots for over a decade now and my reactions are pretty small now. I highly recommend the shots but it comes with a price both literally and figuratively. It gets expensive if insurance is an issue. Also have to ramp up dosages over time. So your ability to roam may be hampered when trying to schedule around the shots at first.
    Stay safe!

@flashted I'm so grateful for our healthcare system. I've had so many 500km medi-vac flights that I lost count a decade ago. Each one included advanced care ambulance transport at both ends. Any one of those trips would have cost double our annual family income, but they didn't cost us a cent. I'm sure that it's possible to get better medical care in the US, but only if you're wealthy.
Also, the idea of having some pencil pusher at an insurance company with no medical training deciding which treatments and medications I'm entitled to is completely, gobsmakingly bonkers to my mind.

I used to live in central FL. I have been there to Wekiwa a few times. Most likely it was a brown scorpion or wasp floating in the water. I have been stung that way in a pool
Very small , and common. Sometimes the end up in the water, and can sting you because they're freaking out and dying same thing with a honey bee or wasp.
Could have been this also. Said to be able to kill a cow.. No joke very toxic to bovines.
Ive seen them many times as I crawled around in the Floridia forrests. They literally hiss at you
"Velvet Ant Wasps in FloridaMales cannot sting and are harmless, but the females have an extremely painful sting, as suggested by the name “cow killer” given to some of the larger species. Their bright colors are actually a signal warning predators to stay away"

loving you is sooo sweet its the most enjoyable thing
for you are the paradise for the heart and soul and mind
Everything about you is sooo unique and attracts the eyes and captivates the mind
God surely perfected you so glorified is he whom made you too beautiful and made you soo smart
    🌷😘
    😍😍
    you are too beautiful!!
whomever see you should believe that God is true & real..
and whenever I see you I feel like Iam in a dream,
And when we wake up we will all realize that all this life was nothing but a dream and that only God is whats true and real..
There was a teacher whom didn't believe in the existence of God, one day he asked his students, do you see God?
the students then replied no we don't see God, so the teacher said if you don't see God it means there is no God.
then a smart student stood up and said to the other students hey guys can you see the teachers brain?
then the students answered no we don't see the teachers brain, the student then said the teacher then is crazy, he has no brain
    :0)
The universe science says was not always there, it had a beginning point, the big bang, meaning it was begun/initiated in other words created, thus there should be a creator,
    there must be a God.
One God for all of us
he created us all and can revive us again,
The evolution theory doesn't deny the existence of God, rather it proves that even if we become dust that there is a possibility of return, even if via repetition of the evolution of creation, through the will of God, again.
    So, God initiated everything,
& he repeat/redo things too, & thats clear, we see many cycles of different things in life, also in summer for example the desert land is like empty and is filled with only sand, but when rain falls in abundance in spring or winter, after that small flowers & wild plants grow again & it becomes green, also, we see how humans and animals grow and how their body is formed from the elements which were in the sand which plants feed on which they eat, and after they die they go to the sand and their atoms/elements are taken by plants which humans & animals eat and their bodies grow from those atoms & elements found in the sand which came from previous humans & animals which died before, so God can bring us again after we die even if our atoms became in the sand he can make us from the same atoms we were made of or from other atoms if he want or make us be in a spirit form or like ghosts, any ways, everything in this life is recycled, learn if you want about the different cycles in life in nature, the food cycle or food chain, the water cycle, even the gas cycle that makes the air the oxygen &carbon dioxide &nitrogen cycles, even the energy is like recycled but only changes from form to another form.
Anyways, God created this life but it's only a temporary sample/an example of a coming everlasting one
which could be either in heaven paradise or in hell.
If we try to be good humans in life, and try to obey God and his messengers-including the final messenger for all humanity the prophet Mohammed- and those whom rightly represent them, for example imam Ali & ahlulbayt the family/good descendants of the prophet mohammed, then we will all go to heaven/paradise, if not then we will go to hell fire and burn in it forever.
keep shining sunshine &spread the light.

My guess is the tiny black flys there. I grew up in Wekiva and have seen multiple people get a crazy reaction from them. Sorry and hope you feel better. Wekiva is a sacred place. Deep in the woods on the river is much more peaceful. Please come back

The first thing you said was that you got stung by something? My first thought was it must’ve been a bee 🐝 of some sort. This time of year yellow jackets are active and they will sting if you get near or step on their nest which is usually in the ground. I got stung by 30 when I was a young boy and it made me allergic, so I always carry an EpiPen and Benadryl. What’s interesting about your episode is that it only took one bee to do it or one of whatever it was? You are very fortunate that it was only one 😮

That looks like a fire ant bite, nasty lil bugs. I'm allergic and so is my dad, we have kinda the same reactions even needing to go to the hospital when bitten. Unfortunately they are everywhere here in Florida.

Scary, Glad you are ok. Shout out to EMS, they were very calm and helped you make the best decision. You were restless and anxious, part of the reaction and they did not want to increase that. some are not understanding this. You cannot bully patients into going to the hospital, not as long as they have their mind and can decide.

Crazy episode holy cow. I'm glad you're okay. Anyways, let's stay out of emergency please. You're really good athlete. It was kind of funny that they park ranger knew you from the videos. Anyways, I'll keep following you and look forward to your hiking. Kayaking, surfing besides going to emergency
