    My 2022 F57 (the convertible version of this car) was DIFFERENT!! Your F convertible may be different too. There are no access flaps. The plastic splash shield covers an aluminum skid plate(with access holes to the plug/filter). You have to take the splash shield off and MINI uses 8 to 10 security torx fasteners to hold it on.
    Everything else in the video is spot on!! Thank you

    What do you think, is it wise to comply with manufacturer advice for changing oil intervals? Many thinks it should be shorter. What about air filter intervals?

    • @GavinBlaesner
      @GavinBlaesner  2 роки тому +1

      PERSONALLY, even with synthetic I change my oil every 3,500 miles no matter what. Air filter intervals i would say maybe every few years, they typically don’t see much wear or dirt anyways, but depends where you live really.

    Small question today, first oil service on a mini just like this one, ordered a mahle OX 815/1D (same model number as original) from FCP but the top hole (where the felt material is) was a bit smaller, I compared to original and it seems that the edge/rim of the original filter's felt bends to give it a tight fit. (have you seen/experienced this?) everything went ok, but looking at your video I just see you push that filter a bit quicker and smoother than what I did, I but some oil on the felt and helped the felt fold a bit with my finger.

    • @GavinBlaesner

    • @GavinBlaesner

      No, so any oil changes outside of that interval you will have to take care of. That’s exactly what I do. I changed at 2500, 5k, 7500 and then maint plan around 10k. Just need to tell them not to reset the main light when you do your customer pay oil change otherwise if they reset it you won’t get your maint plan oil change. How do you service the auto trans on the f56?

    • @GavinBlaesner
      @GavinBlaesner  2 роки тому +2

      Little difficult to explain over text, but basically 1) Remove undertray 2: remove trans drain plug, small t25 or something 3: remove large drain/fluid level stick 4: catch fluid to see how much comes out, fill up container with same amount that was drained. 5: insert large drain/level stick 6: use small fluid pump and hose to pump new fluid back into trans from t25 hole 7: re install small t25 drain plug.
      That is about the process, I can try to make a video on it soon. A few small hand tools, and a cheap fluid pump would do the job easily. There is a fill on top of the trans but very difficult to get to with mount removing too much stuff. Invest in the cheap pump. Hope that helps.

      Hello Gavin, thanks for the response. I will mount the car over the weekend and check it again. If it is related to a/c drain, in many cases the car is mostly better off without it as sometimes these drains clog and cause more issues.
      Am I correct?
      But what is more concerning for me is the missing splash guard. Especially for a low profile car, that's very important to protect from the day to day debris.
      Please help me with more reasons why we need to replace the a/c drain.

    4:57 5.5qts but you’re putting in 6 1L bottles? That equates to 6.34qt.
