- LOVE this palette and have been a Paul Ruben fan for years.
YouLan Artist Watercolor Paint Set is the fifth-generation artist watercolor introduced by Paul Rubens. It offers superior lightfastness compared to the fourth-generation artist watercolors. It is currently the highest-quality artist watercolor from Paul Rubens.
YouLan means "orchid born in a valley" in Chinese. In China, the orchid represents a gentle, reserved, and humble image.
Highlights of this set:
More Advanced Colors: YouLan Artist Watercolor Paint Set features a new color palette that is more sophisticated and smooth compared to Paul Rubens' fourth-generation tube watercolors.
Vibrant Colors and Excellent Solubility: They dissolve quickly on contact with water, resulting in even and uniform colors.
Fine Color Powder and Ultra-Pure Pigments: The ultra-fine pigments are meticulously ground using extra-fine gum arabic.
Excellent Diffusion and High Transparency:The colors blend naturally and evenly, with better diffusion than previous Paul Rubens artist watercolors. The transparency is higher, and the spread of watermarks is more uniform.
Exquisite and Portable Packaging Design: The set comes in an exquisite and portable tin case, making it suitable for outdoor painting and gifting during festivals.

Good for you! It's about time you got something for all the advertising you do for them! Enjoy! 😊❤
Hi Linda, absolutely. They are very similiar for me, the creaminess, vibrant colors yet very transparent, I would use these for my paintings I am selling, my commissions. For my daily paintings aesthetically and looks wise the MeiLiangs I feel are just as beautiful on paper~ Great question :-)
Thanks for the info. Hugs.
Always my pleasure Ann xo
How beautiful the colors are!!!
I thought so too, they very much reminded me of the MeiLiang palette colors that you know I love so much, although these are professional grade. I had so much fun playing with them!
Cool! They have pigment numbers 😊
Yes! And predominantly one pigment :-) I was surprised.
Lucky you. The colours look very nice.
Thank you Judith, they gifted me these because I love and have bought their pans for years. I also as you know love their sister company MeiLiang palette which I use daily. Great company and love their paints. I dont miss my WN's at all!
Beautiful colours . I’d hate not knowing the colours names . Love how you mixed your colours .
Yes, drove me crazy too! I did share the color names in my community page for you :-) They are a beautiful set if you are looking for a professional set, MeLiang is their sister company and what I use daily still with the same beautiful rich colors. Happy painting friend!
I just ordered this set using your link. The cost is $49.98. Excited to get them.
Thank you I really appreciate that. I dont get any % but it shows my appreciation for them and Im thrilled you will be trying them. They are quite beautiful and a gret step up to professional grade. PR is a fabulous company. Have fun, I cant wait for you to get them. I shared the color names in my community page for you as wel!

@@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy my paints arrived yesterday. Wow!! I like these even better than the tube paints, same brand. A big plus was not having to deal with the tubes doing a mini explosion when I first opened them! The colors are gorgeous, rich and vibrant! Thank you for recommending these. I’m very pleased.

Paul Rubens colors are so beautiful and vibrant it's hard to try and decide if you want to paint with Paul Ruben or Daniel Smith?? Plus you have QOR!! Have you ever tried QOR?? OH my their colors are beautiful and vibrant. They spread across a page like crazy. Good for abstract painting. QOR has half pans now too. You get 6 colors for 20 dollars!! I bought this it's on sale right now. I guess they are doing something different with their line. Have a great day and thank you Debbie 😊. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.
I have not~ I almost hate to see more paints lol. It was so easy for years, decades I painted with WN, till my daily painting became so much and teaching classes students wanted a student grade and affordable set thus I started using the MeLiangs. (Sister company of PR) Now for my commissions and professional paintings I would definately use the PR's. Love them as a company as well. (WN doesnt give me the time of day :-) Happy painting friend! I will be checking into those paints ~
That palette is beautiful!!! 🖌💜
I agree Penny, a splurge, step up from the MeiLiangs *their sister company) These are their professional paints. I still use the MeiLiangs daily painting. Have a creative day full of color!
These look so good, wonderful work ☺☺
Thank you Chantelle, they are a beautiful quality for a step up to a professional grade paint from the MeiLiangs, which I still use daily. MeiLiang is a sister company to PR as well, and I cant say enough about them as a company. Happy painting friend!
@@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy that's awesome!
Just got this palette recently. Loving it.
Wonderful, its beautiful isnt it, and I love PR as a company~ They recognize small artists, and their packaging and quality I feel is thoughtful and beautiful. Happy painting friend!
The pink or the black. Reminds me of fancy chocolates.
Oh, I LIKE that :-) They do indeed.
@@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy I'm going to order some next month.
Beautiful colors indeed ❤️✝️🙏🏻
Good morning Tina, Yes, the colors remind me very much of their sister company MeiLiang palette. These are great for the professional pieces with a higher lightfastness rating. for my everyday and gifts, I still go to me MeiLiang palette!
Beautiful! Can you unveil and swatch with us another time?
Of course :-) I love playing with palettes, and colors, its like a kid in a candy store (but even better!)
Do you like this as much as the Mei Ling palette?
Good question 🤔
Hi Lois, Yes, great question. someone else asked this as well. They are just as beautiful as the MeiLiang. These would be a step up to professional grade, higher lightfastness and a bit more granulated with the blues and greens even a bit with the browns. They are equally vibrant, bright and also transparent which I love. For a good replacement of my Winsor Newtons and my commission pieces I would definately use these. I also cant say enough about the Paul Rubens company. Their thoughtfulness in packaging and small touches is fabulous.
@@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy Thanks so much for your reply! I think it’s absolutely wonderful that you take the time and interest to reply to each person that writes to you! ❤️
@@loislevandoski1246 Thank you Lois, for noticing, and appreciating , It truly means a lot to me for years now whenever I have engaged on social media, I cant get to everything these days, and predominantly focus on all of you here on YT. I really enjoy it and it takes me many hours per day, but brings me a lot of joy too! I hope to always be able to. Happy painting friend, most of all enjoy and have fun~
That quote sounds like it was from Karate Kid, or from kung fu panda haha
Maybe! I loved those movies btw :-) I love when packaging and products have little hidden quotes, words, fun things. I also love hiding a little bee, dragonfly, butterfly in my florals... so fun when the viewer finds them~ ~
I agree; the color names shld not be in Chinese
Its a great help googling them and seeing them in English for sure. Makes mixing and blending them correctly much easier, I like to reference my mixes in my books as well, and knowing the English names is obviously easier. They have the English names in their other palettes, not sure how this one was missed. I do love the pigments though. Happy painting friend.
@@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy they’re beautiful colors! TYSM for your response.
Debbie I've sent you an email with the English colour names Sue x
Thank you Sue! I shared in my community page as wel. Much thanks! See you next week :-)
@@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasylooking forward to it. Xx
