Saw Cris Carter, Steve Jordan, Rick Fenney, Gary Zimmerman, Rich Gannon, Carl Lee, Tim Irwin, Anthony Carter, Hassan Jones, Fuad Reveiz, and a bunch more. Herschel was very nice. Signed autographs and took pictures. It was a great day.
Single craziest statement in this whole video is that he was state champ for the 100 m, 200m, AND shot-put. That’s is UNHEARD OF. Insanely impressive!!
I believe that he also was state champ in wrestling. I was glad when my dad took me to watch Herschel in a high school football playoffs. It seemed at times he was moving the pile 20 to 30 yards with the opposing team on his back. Incredible athlete and a class act on and off the field. Few live up to the hype as well as he.
I’ll say this about Herschel, coming from a Clemson fan: In 1981, we had one of the best defenses in college football history. This unit surrendered just 10 points per game and forced 41 turnovers in just 12 games. The back seven alone had two college football hall of famers (Jeff Davis and Terry Kinard), and the defensive line featured The Fridge. Even though the offense was mediocre at best, we still won the national championship that year. With all that being said... Herschel Walker rushed for 111 yards against them on 28 carries. Despite that, and despite facing the exact defense I just described above, his performance that day is still considered one of the worst games of his college career. That’s how good he was.

Basil Shabazz did it in Arkansas back in the early 1990's. I believe his state long jump record still stands, he dominated the sprints, and was the Gatorade National Athlete of the Year. He had world class sprinter speed and ended up getting drafted by MLB. His best sport was football (he played RB) but unfortunately he was unable to qualify for college right out of high school (he later played for a small school, UAPB). He didn't even really play basketball seriously however he managed to dunk from near the foul line in games.
I was there. My high school, Warner Robins, hosted the State championship track meet for all classifications (there were 4 at the time). The football team had to do volunteer work for the meet and I got to watch the single most impressive performance I have seen in my life, up to and since that point. Herschel won multiple sprints (100, 220, 4x100, shot put and I believe another relay). He won every event he was in and had more points than any other team had team points. It was a day I will never forget. He was a mythical figure even as a high schooler.

I heard a story about Herschel Walker, he said that he had never lifted a weight in his life. Someone asked him how the hell he got that big, and he said "A deck of cards." An Ace was 14 pushups, a King was 13, A Queen was 12, and you get the picture.
One year on the show "Superstars" he said he never lifted weights but he grew up on a farm He said " I was 14 years old before I realized my name wasn't Git wood"
I'm old enough to remember watching NFL in the 80's with my brothers who were diehard football fans. Superstars and shows like that highlighted the best football dudes I ever saw. A few stood out including Mark Clayton from Miami Dolphins, Hershell Walker, Darrell Green, Bo Jackson, Mike Singletary, Ronnie Lott, Barry Sanders and Marcus Allen. Walker was a dominant running back that played in some league called USFL B4 the NFL and was considered a gym rat, doing martial arts or whatever. Along with Barry Sanders and Bo Jackson, he's one of those mythical players who were awesome but never got to win a championship for whatever reason
Never knew Herschel fought in MMA on top of everything else he was the champ at,¬ even starting in MMA til he's already in his 50's, - Unbelievable! That's just amazing!
Hype? Nah. I live in Australia and have had a secondary interest in American football. There are not that many names I remember and immediately recognise from my early years of watching NFL. But Herschel Walker is definitely one of them. Along with Bo Jackson, Emmett Smith, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Willy Gault and (you might find this weird) Jim Plunkett. Oh and Dan Marino.
Props to the G.O.A.T. I'm 52 and do 300 pushups a day, could barely do 10 about 5 years ago. Lost 60 pounds in a 3 year time span, between 2010-2013. Ran my 3rd fastest half marathon in February 2020 (my last). Going to focus on the Herschel Walker pushup brigade. I'm going to try pullups since I couldn't do any when I was a kid. This story is inspiring, and I didn't know he was still relevant until last week. Never too late.
He deserves to be in the pro football hall of fame. I think that the NFL is mad that he went to the USFL first but it’s the pro football hall of fame not the NFL hall of fame.

I’m from Wrightsville GA, home of H.W. Everyone from there knows him and his family. He is the best guy you’ll ever meet! We all love him! GoDawgs!
I'm from Dublin, GA, in Laurens County which is adjacent to Johnson County. We really admire him too. Got to watch him in person when the Johnson County Trojans played at the West Laurens Raiders stadium. It was standing room only. That was was the first only time that I witnessed that at a high school football game. Herschel did not disappoint.

In Greek mythology there was a man they called Hercules.
If Hershall Walker would have lived in those days they would have raised him to the level of a demi-god for his many feats of strength. A hybrid between Mercury, Apollo and man.
@BillyFreeTX uhhh
@BillyFreeTX okay, I remember the story now. Thanks for the reminder man.
When asked if he had ever heard of Chuck Norris, Walker simply stated, "Never heard of her."

I will still be laughing at this comment when I wake up tomorrow lmfaoo

Watching this after a workout, as a teenager who plays three sports I felt dead after 50 push-ups yet this man can do 1500 in his 50’s. Wow.
*When you said he was the fastest & the strongest at the same time in track & field for his state...........mind blown! lol*

Ed Dixon 🏅💪🏿
i think that was ray lewis
Along with Barry Sanders and Bo Jackson, he's one of those mythical players who were awesome but never got to win a championship for whatever reason
bwag14 His dad and uncles worked in the pulp wood industry ( logging) when they use to load trucks by hand.

He did it all for the Eagles. 🦅
Hype?

Keep dick riding. Abortion is murder I thought fuck nut??
Work your back shoulder too! And ups do a ton for the front and it'll become uneven! Keep it up guy!
He deserves to be in the pro football hall of fame. I think that the NFL is mad that he went to the USFL first but it’s the pro football hall of fame not the NFL hall of fame.
brokenpixels - great point because the modern NFL was caused by a merging of the American Football League and The National Football League. Plus, there are no more leagues really to develop young talent like there is in baseball.
brokenpixels it’s a shame his best 3 years were in the usfl. He would be top 5 all time in rushing yards if you combine them
