  • @zacharytaylor3178
    @zacharytaylor3178 6 років тому +396

    I’ll say this about Herschel, coming from a Clemson fan: In 1981, we had one of the best defenses in college football history. This unit surrendered just 10 points per game and forced 41 turnovers in just 12 games. The back seven alone had two college football hall of famers (Jeff Davis and Terry Kinard), and the defensive line featured The Fridge. Even though the offense was mediocre at best, we still won the national championship that year. With all that being said...
    Herschel Walker rushed for 111 yards against them on 28 carries. Despite that, and despite facing the exact defense I just described above, his performance that day is still considered one of the worst games of his college career. That’s how good he was.

    • @5IvanDrago5
      @5IvanDrago5 6 років тому +1

      Interesting idea of him going to the 49ers, who knows how different things would have been. I love Hershel Walker, he was one of my idols as a kid and to this day I respect the hell out of him.That said, seek out some game highlights of Hershel pre 89-90 and post 89-90, something happened because something changed. Walker was a downfield runner that seeked contact and laid DB's out. For whatever reason around 90, those speed burst started going east and west towards the sidelines. I'm not hating, do your own research and draw your own conclusion. He maintained so long in The NFL because of his attitude and he was a great receiver for a RB and ended up returning kickoffs.

    • @Kshea44ify
      @Kshea44ify 6 років тому

      @@JoeSexPack It's really not hard if you spread it out. If it's your job to be an athlete, you can spend 8 hours watching tv/listening to music just exercising. Doing it with decent breaks in between, you can pump out hundreds of pushups an hour. If you get good at them, a set of 50 is nothing. If you've got 9-5 to just watch tv and bang out push ups during the boring parts, it's not unbelievable. Hell, I could do it and I'm just someone who keeps in shape. Doing it every day is the mental toughness portion.

    • @JoeSexPack

      ....So do 2000 pushups & post vid. Then show us 3000 situps & 1500 pullups done the same day, & do it again tomorrow, at age 56! That's the claim, which is believable with photos & vid's, none of which are found. World Record in one hour is 2220, but that pace requires no other work that day, & rest for days after. If daily pace is 1/2 of that, he needs 2 hours. Plus 2 hours each for situps & pullups, for 6 hours total. not counting food, water & rest. Many of the same muscles are used for each exercise, slowing pace. 7-8 hours/day for 40+ years, with no vid? Basil Shabazz did it in Arkansas back in the early 1990's. I believe his state long jump record still stands, he dominated the sprints, and was the Gatorade National Athlete of the Year. He had world class sprinter speed and ended up getting drafted by MLB. His best sport was football (he played RB) but unfortunately he was unable to qualify for college right out of high school (he later played for a small school, UAPB). He didn't even really play basketball seriously however he managed to dunk from near the foul line in games.

      I was there. My high school, Warner Robins, hosted the State championship track meet for all classifications (there were 4 at the time). The football team had to do volunteer work for the meet and I got to watch the single most impressive performance I have seen in my life, up to and since that point. Herschel won multiple sprints (100, 220, 4x100, shot put and I believe another relay). He won every event he was in and had more points than any other team had team points. It was a day I will never forget. He was a mythical figure even as a high schooler.

A few stood out including Mark Clayton from Miami Dolphins, Hershell Walker, Darrell Green, Bo Jackson, Mike Singletary, Ronnie Lott, Barry Sanders and Marcus Allen. Walker was a dominant running back that played in some league called USFL B4 the NFL and was considered a gym rat, doing martial arts or whatever.
