      As other on here have said, the difference between this and a plywood based teardrop are night and day. This trailer will hold its resale for decades while plywood based tearsdrops will suffer from water and road damage. This trailer is substantially lighter than plywood based ones. The amenities are better and nicer.
      People find it entirely appropriate to spend hundreds of thousands on motor homes and fifth wheels but balk at a teardrop that is substantially less.

    As a former backpacker I think people need to keep in mind that if you're camping in bear country you better not bring food inside the camper. I wouldn't even do that with the door and windows closed as a determined bear might be able to break in. You should put your food and aromatic trash in a bear canister and keep it well away from the trailer when you bed down for the night.

    Great and very thorough review. Many comments have been talking about the price. I have been shopping premium teardrops for several years now and this appears to the top of its class in terms of fit, finish, durability and of course all the features. Can I build a teardrop for $7500 USD, sure. But will it compete with this? Never.
    A 2-door Bronco Badlands costs about the same but no one asks why you would pay that when you can get a 2 door Jeep Renegade can be purchased in the low $20k's. They do not compare.
    I can't wait to hear more from you about it as you use it more! Putting this trailer at the top of my list.

      I agree. Mind you, I am concerned about the price as a customer searching for a teardrop. But that said, I talk to friends and they say stuff like "Why don't you make your own? Or buy this stitch and glue kit?". And while it would be much cheaper, the results from that kind of teardrop are going to be in a completely different league in terms of quality, features and function. Escapod has apparently gotten the message that some people need a more affordable alternative and have introduced the Topo 2 Nomad, which has the same bones, but they skinnied down the features and knocked ~ $10k off the price.

    Great review, Jordan. First time coming across your channel, which is seriously surprising! I’ve been researching all types of platforms for over 3 years. I’m a photographer who travels 4-5 months a year across the country, and while I could always find a B&B or tent camp somewhere, I prefer the familiarity of the same place (while being some place different almost every night). There’s a lot of great options out there. But, having a durable, leak-proof platform with a galley? Sign me up. The color schemes match my style, too. Air conditioner & heater are both pluses. One thing you didn’t mention: the two top heat vents are purposefully aimed at the stargazer window, and that keeps it warmed & almost eliminates any chance of condensation. A really well thought out detail. The cost is about in line with most other campers that are as well equipped as the Topo 2. It shouldn’t sticker shock anyone. Great job, I’ll sub right now. See you on the road.

    Excellent video! I am bummed how expensive off road craft usa built trailers are these days but this Topo is in line with all its competition. Add up all the components and design and compare it to the two dozen plywood built and solid axel 15-20 k teardrops and you can see why it is double the cost. Keep in mind this is a crowded market and when you want to buy a trailer you want the company to stay in business so they have to profit. One question- I love the idea of a star gazing window and 95% of trailers have them but I really, really hope this one doesn't leak. I feel like Escapod should design a fiberglass hinged cover to seal over it when in transit. Maybe incorporate a solar panel in said cover.

    • @GalendilEVEPlayer
      @GalendilEVEPlayer 2 роки тому +1

      That is the advantage of fiberglass. The window does not leak because it has a gutter system built in to the body.

The engineering for trailing arm suspension my be robust, but it is w-i-d-e at the bottom and will be subject to damage on a rocky trail
