Car Camping in the Rain and Wind

- In this video I camp in heavy rain and wind. I have to rig up my awning and tarps so that I have a space to cook out of my car. Through trial and error I eventually sort out a decent camp to provide protection from the heavy winds and rain.
Camping in the rain can be challenging but it can also be alot of fun. I hope this video shows the beauty and reality of the outdoors.

Everyone is out and about in good weather, I like the adventure of being out in wet and or stormy weather including snow storms. That’s the real adventure! 👍

Best car camp video I've seen bud, from start to finish very entertaining, challenging conditions dealt with, good idea with the tarp to stop the wind, good call about the totara wood being dry, nice setup within the car, great to see where you were from the hill viewpoint despite that weather and a cracking breakfast, nice idea with the eggs and then water for tea, loved it, cheers bud.

Great video. What awning is it this. I also have a tailgate opening sideways so I'm looking for non permanent awning ideas that would cover the tailgate area. I have a trip coming ups in a few two weeks in a rainy part of US west coast. Thanks.

An awfully windy part of NZ you have chosen to park up. So where are you exactly BC/Kiwi get closer to high gorse so only one side will get totally wet maybe, It is very exhilarating to be out in a rainy day - something you do not do often. Keep your feet reasonably dry in such wet weather, too much wet & you may get itchy feet & then as it progresses you will eventually have Chillblains. Can swell up & be very sore. You have planned well with your trip & your equipment is great & I see Spaghetti is it Watties or Heinz still very popular most useful, so young man travel well & safely.

Enjoyed the video very much. I’m a newbie car-camper currently roaming NZ at a snail’s pace. Where did you get the solar panel & the power station from? And, how many watts is it for the panel?
Thanks Nancy! I have 2 solar panels and 2 power stations. The solar panel on my roof rack is a ridge Ryder 110 watt solar panel from super cheap auto, this powers my power oak eb50 which is mainly used just to power my fridge.
The smaller solar panel which I move around is an 80 watt panel from Jay car and the little red power station is also from Jay car, I use this to charge my phone and camera and stuff.
This set up is far from perfect and I will considering upgrading it one day.
