Recommendation to Eefje: Since the soil is too hard for planting, you could use a permaculture principle and add soil over it and grow on top. The plants will form their own root beds.
We also had rock-hard clay. Rather than cover it completely with new soil, we decided to amend what we had. We broke it up with pick axes, hammered down the clods and sifted them through metal screening from an old garden table. We added some sand from the beach, peat moss bought in bales, small volcanic stone, and 100% original sourced vermiculite (considered organic, but you can alternatively use coconut or other husk material to lighten the mix.) We bought some compost to add until our own broke down. We made matured manure tea from our horse and added chicken-coop droppings to the compost. Using composted, not fresh, animal waste isn't necessary, but we had it lying around! We had 12 square-foot gardening boxes at that time so we needed lots of nutra-rich soil! Cheaper to make our own.
This doesn't feel like a tiny house, love it, including the outside space which I bet is lovely in the summer, I could really see myself living somewhere like this.
Maybe you should try a raised bed garden. My friend used pallets she got for free and lined the inside of the boxes she made. The good thing about raised beds is you can bring in good dirt to fill them.
@Shay, Hi, maybe you know already but there is on certain palates that you can use on vegetables. I can't remember the numbers but she would need to make chemically treated or heated something on those line's 👍😉🇮🇪🍀
Hello! I liked your little house. He is very cozy. The way you use materials is especially impressive. Interesting chair covers and stone sink. This house even has a separate place for the dog, super! Thank you for the interesting video. Good luck to you👍🐶🌻💙
I have a pallet/pot garden. Plastic on the ground with pallets ontop, then use all kinds of grow bags and containers to grow fruit and veggies. It’s right behind the house, and next to the hose. I surrounded it with chicken wire and posts, and kept it three feet from the house, and cut grass short all the way around it to prevent weeds and pests. My backyard used to be a gravel driveway, and I took much time to sprinkle dirt and grass seed and moved the driveway to the side of the house. This way, when I look out my kitchen window I see my garden, not my truck. Lol. Inside my garden with the plastic, there are no weeds. Since I cannot go into the sun, this way I can tend to my plants in the evenings. In your case, you may want to use raised beds, stock tanks are lovely, and in walkways you can use tar paper or roofing tiles to then be weed free without using herbicides. The area might have been sprayed with herbicides, is so then nothing will grow. The ground would be unusable for about 7-10 years. If creating open bottom raised beds, I would dig about a foot of the dirt out, then order a load of clean top soil to fill beds.
I never caught the start of this video but the minute I heard the voice, my hunch was that this is a Dutch accent. Bedankt. Beautiful and compact but visually spacious. Perfect! Now am going to Mr Google for confirmation of my guesswork.
Such a great space! I was shocked it's only 390 sq ft-it seems much larger-wonderful windows and the storage is all fantastic. The bathroom sink is the coolest thing I've ever seen! Did she say this home is in the Netherlands?
I love this project. It really looks comfortable. The front deck is a dream. May I suggest that you get someone to help you style it a little so it looks less new and more cozy on video. Other than that it looks so spacious. There is enough private space and together space so a couple can have alone time and together time.
I was very interested in that picturesque shower with the beach scenery. However, it was not discussed. I have never seen anything like that and wondered if was her own photo image and who created it. I really like the design of this house. The clay soils are usually great for a lot of plants. I live in Australia and my garden is grown on clay soils...you can add Gypsum (sorry do not know what its called outside of Australia) to the soil to make it more friable. Or as has been mentioned a no dig style set up or raised garden beds with added soil.
I think they have a mini oven stored high in the kitchen. It's black. I assume they pull it down if needed. I wondered that as well until I spotted it in the kitchen.
That microwave is way too high. U You'd have to be 10 feet tall to use it. That place looks soooo outdated...from the color on the walls to the light fixture, as well as the bedding, floor lamp & the curtains.
Ava Jackson. If you live in a sterile environment, you are most susceptible to disease. kids eat dirt that actually provides nutrients, such as plants uptake.. somebody has screwed up your mind and manners.
I love this house okay I think it's perfect size for me and my two cats but I will say this the kitchen should have gone with the living room is the dining table is not necessary it's not a necessary element you could have used that as your workspace and then you could have used the workspace as a walk-in closet that would have been genius but you did what you did and it looks good as it is for you but for me personally I would have completely rearranged all that s*** and it eliminated that dining table it's not necessary element in a tiny house come on
This is a beautiful house. Eefje and her husband have done an excellent job in making this into a wonderful home. One of the best I have ever seen.

They know about pallets. They built their patio railings & gates out of pallets

That shower folded wall should be in every tiny house/van/skoolie. 👍👍
Really interesting house. Love all the eco features.
Thank you for sharing your adventure of building your beautiful tiny home! 🤗

Wonderful design. Simple but perfect...almost😉. Blessings to this family.
This tiny house, I could live in. Great job 👍
Amazing dream come true! Thanks for sharing!
Really l9ve this home and how big it lives. Great job
12 inch thick walls! Now that’s how to build a house!
The dining chairs remind me of Hans Atillier's (sp?) work. Nicely done! Beautiful little house too!
I never caught the start of this video but the minute I heard the voice, my hunch was that this is a Dutch accent. Bedankt. Beautiful and compact but visually spacious. Perfect! Now am going to Mr Google for confirmation of my guesswork.
Very nice! I’m amazed.
I love the jean chairs❤
Jolie (nice) tiny house.
Thank you for sharing.

Yes.
Nice home. And I love your shirt and boots!
She is adorable!
Awesome ❤❤
Love your house and you saved a lot
Absolutely beautiful home👏👏❤️❤️
Oh and I love your pretty outfit too❤️

Amen on the dishwasher.

In Europe, these picture wallpapers can buy in a hardware store.
Well done!
love the recycling
You can buy the bags of dirt an put seeds into it so it’s good dirt
Beautiful home
Love your home. Great job. I think I see your dogs feet sticking out from the couch lol
Very cute tiny house
Mooi! Superfijne indeling! 👌🙏
Very nice. Do you have an oven in the kitchen for baking? Love how you use recyclables.
I think they have a mini oven stored high in the kitchen. It's black. I assume they pull it down if needed. I wondered that as well until I spotted it in the kitchen.
Yes, portable black oven above the kitchen.
It's really a nice house..if it has another bedroom that would be great, for those who have kids.
Hi Eefje, what a beautiful house you have! May I know the measurement ( length, width and height) of your house please? Thank you so much!
Our dog is the twin of yours but we are in Italy - so how can that be? Her name is Lilu and she is nearly the same age as yours.😁
Nice!
Mooi, prima!
Aha we are big fans of the BURKEY water 💦 system.
Yes the burkey water filter is great.
Very nice home
I wish she would have talked about how they are protecting the beach painting in the shower.
It’s a sticker that is made for bathrooms.
Raised beds for the gardens?
Great house, doen’t feel tiny at all - just small. Fijn huis, lijkt me heerlijk om in te wonen. But no washing machine?
They have a washing machine in the common community house. It was shown in last week's episode.
aawwee Lizzy looks like my old Dog Dino, i swear he was human,
6:06 haha
Where is this?
In the Netherlands
Very nice interior but it's not a tiny house. I would call this an off grid small house.
36SqM is somewhere between tiny & small :) In the Netherlands (where I filmed this video) officially tiny house is up to 40SqM.
That microwave is way too high. U
You'd have to be 10 feet tall to use it.
That place looks soooo outdated...from the color on the walls to the light fixture, as well as the bedding, floor lamp & the curtains.
Keep your dog cool ☹️
Il cane viene picchiato, quando lo ha toccato si è abbassato!!!!!!!!!!!😢👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
A big nasty dog on the couch I know that house is nasty and dirty and you have the nerve to show that place
You know that dogs are fully washable right.
How rude!
Ava Jackson.

Yes how rude. It's not your place a d you don't have to live there. Move on.
