You are quite welcome - My parents got divorced when I was in 5th grade and my mom moved me out to LA away from all my friends in 73'. Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan and all the funky music of the day got me thru. SW wrote some of the best stuff there is!
Ok just discovered this channel and it’s terrific. Very. One rather dumb question. Could you suggest some book or course or some such to learn and get the basics of guitar playing out of the way. Mine are all over the place. Are you self taught or did you study music.
Hey there. I started out picking up melodies by ear (playing along with Yes records etc). Then I just got some songbooks just to get the chord shapes. After that, I took lessons from a jazz player back in the 80s. He taught me harmony theory plus scales and modes and how to play any chord in multiple positions. My feeling is that knowing your intervals and basic theory are important to learn while developing your mechanical skills. Its a life long journey and its never too late to start. my email is jonelee763 at g***** If you shoot me an email, I can send some helpful stuff Cheers jon
@@jonlee7269 Actually, if you could recommend a book or two that has chords for all these “difficult / different / prog” songs… that would help. I am also starting to learn theory and piano separately so I think just learning songs on the guitar would be enough.
Thanks. I’ll be trying this. Sounds really good especially with the melody.
Stevie is awesome.
THANK YOU, thank you very much! You nailed it - I've been trying to get the bridge progression on organ forever and just couldn't. Great job!
