Informative, direct, engaging
Hey Mikki. Thank you so much for this video. This helps so much, I haven't found any other videos like this yet.
It’s a pleasure Babe! 🙏🏽 thank you for watching.
Great and constructive video Mikki thanks for sharing! I'll be heading to Korea next month to teach English for 1 year in Gimhae in a private hagwon!

Thank you! 😘
This is the second video of yours that I have watched - WOW! I have been going through so many channels looking for information and I have not come across ONE channel that is as thorough as yours. THANK YOU! It's also refreshing to see a natural, calm personality without all the loud and weird YT lingo. Awesome! Carry on with your videos! I would LOVE to see perhaps a shopping trip, a day in your class or a trip to visit a friend. You are just lovely to watch - would enjoy your vlogs.
Awww! Thank you so much for this comment. Such kind words! I really do want to vlog and it is something that I will eventually get into. This comment just gave me such a boost in spirit and I hear you mami. Noted! 🙏🏽❤️
@@Hey_Its_Mikki Only a pleasure. When you're ready. Can't wait.
Thank you so much for the info.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video, very helpful! Did you have to know decent korean when you applied or can you get away with not knowing any? Do they teach you when you get there?
Hey Mikki thank you so much bruh, I’m busy doing my TEFL certificate, I will definitely come to you with any questions, your video has eased my anxiety about the whole process thank you
Goodluck with everything! I will be waiting to hear from you. And thank you for watching! ❤️
My name is Clement and I will be following up with you halfway through my process of applying. Thank very much for this informative in-depth eye opening video. God bless you. Siyabonga kakhulu nkosiyami✨
Pleasure! Goodluck with everything and thank you for watching 🙏🏽❤️
That’s räcïśț ! Not being born in an English speaking country, doesn’t make me less proficient or less capable to teach. 😤!
Most non English speaking countries want their children to be proficient in the English language because it is a world wide language 🤷🏽♀️It's nothing personal.
Thank you sister
Very helpful thank you
You’re welcome ✨
I literally have my tfel certificate ❤
Thank you for this
My pleasure!❤️
Thanks for the lovely video
Uhm may you please do a video explaining how one can use their credit card and stuff to withdraw money and how to change money when you get there😍😍
I need answers too😮
Hey Mikki😊, this was so helpful thank you... My question is around accommodation, how does that work? And how much would one need to sustain themselves until they get paid?
Hey. I’m so sorry for the late response. I didn’t see this comment 😫
But on to your question. You get accommodation as soon as you land in Korea. Your school takes care of that. I would say at minimum you would need R7000 to sustain yourself before your first pay. You can do with less than that but I wouldn’t advise it since you won’t know much about price comparisons and all that.
Hi Mikki, how long before you apply? Can you start getting all your documents ready? I know some places don't accept documents that are not older than 4 months, etc. Thank you for the informative video.
Hi !!! I was wondering it seems like you started the document process before / during tefl certificate correct? I start my classes sept 4. Can I get these documents going now? Thank you!
Hi Mikki, can you give us more details on the requirement of the medical check, is it the same as China?
What are the non-negotiables
Thanks in advance for your response 🌷.
Hey Mikki, I absolutely loved this video thank you so much❤️ can you kindly share the recruiters details
Hey Babe! Thank you! ❤️ could you kindly please look them up on Dave’s ESL.com
How did you get to decide on which school you wanted to work for?
Hi Mikki! Thank you for this detailed video😊 Can I ask... I have a Diploma in Marketing and I'm currently studying a BCom in Logistics. If I obtain the TEFL certificate will I be able to teach online or even internationally? Or a degree is a standard requirement?
Okay I’ll answer you the best of knowledge. Firstly, if you have a diploma, it must be an advance one. Even if you’re currently studying Bcom, it must be an advanced diploma or degree. And yes, you can teach online with those qualifications. Good luck and sorry for the late response, I didn’t see this comment. ✨
@@Hey_Its_Mikkithank you ❤
Hey Mikki
Which agency did you use to apply
Hy MIkki, I just finished with my TEFL course at International Open Academy and would like to ask if you had to pay for the certificate? Also do I need the hard-copy as well?
gr8
Hey Mikki I really liked your explanation it made things easier .Next year I will be doing my third year and I'll be done with my degree and I think south Korea is a great opportunity.I'm looking forward booking an appointment at the embassy.I am not south Africa but I immigrated here a decade ago,do you think I'll be qualify for the visa?
If you do not hold a South African passport you do not qualify unfortunately. Only a few countries qualify to teach in Korea and China .
I think 7 countries (not more than 30 countries)are highly considered to teach in Korea and South Africa is the only African country regarded maybe 1 or 2 more I am not too sure.
Yes, you have to have the document that proves you've been residing here for at least 2 years, you can do more research on that... then everything else is pretty much the same...
So I did my PGCE when you send your documents to SAQA do you include your matric certificate ? Also do you have to give them your university transcript also if you did you do your PGCE do you send that to SAQA and your TEFL ?
Hi can you please provide us with information on how to get in touch with recruiters. Thanks
If youve sent all youre documents to South Korea, what documents do they then ask you for at the Embassy? Besides passport and photos?
Hi Mikki I don't know if you have already answered this question... What if I want to move there with my family?
Hey Mikki
Just wanted to ask, is it really necessary to use the Brooklyn postnet to send to Dirco or can l use any postnet
Your document(degree) is automatically sent to the brooklyn postnet, so it's definitely easier to courier your pcc there as well, and have the courier both to durco for you...
what if im not from a native english speaking country and dont have experience
Kindly recommend recruiters
Hi Mikki...I'm curious to know what its like starting teaching when you don't have the experience. Do you get some sort if training?
Lol. I could make a whole video about this 😅 but long story short, no! You don’t get any training and it’s nerve wracking at first but you get use to it overtime.
Does a Degree verification and apostled expire
Hi Mikki, I see you didn't include the recruiter details in the description box?
Please go on Dave’s ESL cafe for recruiters ✨
Hi dear, thanks for this detailed video. You mentioned that you would share the links of some recruiters in South Korea. I couldn't find any😢
Also, I forgot to add; did you pay your recruiter or they did it for free?
I still need to compile list. I’ll do it this weekend ✨
@@Chimyonaga No. You don’t pay.
@@Hey_Its_Mikki Thank you Mikki🙂
Would also LOVE to know if it's true that people without a degree are allowed to still got teach in Sk and on what Visa they got there. Thank you
I have never come across any information like that so I can’t confirm or deny.
Hey
How do we get the recruiters
Hi, thank you for the detailed information. Is the medical done in SA or SK? what does the medical consist of if done in SA? Thank you.
SA, but I heard another ytuber say they had to get one done both in SA and SK.
Hi Mikki how much is the flight from South Africa to South Korea, and the age restriction.
One youtuber said it was 11K one said they got a deal for 9.7k.. so budget between 10 and 12K I would say
Thanks a lot Mikki🙌. You really shared informative Vedio… 😘
I’m glad it helped you! Thanks for watching ✨
Hey Mikki. Can you please make a video of the the type of apartment that your school got you?
It’s a bachelor type of apartment (not sure if that’s what they’re called) but everything is in one space.
@@Hey_Its_Mikki Thanks 👌🏻
Hello. I am Uruna, from Mongolia. Could we share our teaching experience each other, please. Answer me pls
Hi there Mikki could you please respond with the recruiting agents you mentioned on the video. I didn't find them on the description box
You can try planet people recruitment agency...
Hi Nikki which documents do I send to Dirco…I’ve validated all my documents police clearance for criminal record , Saqa for degree. I’m confused when you talk about Dirco?
Take both pcc and verification letter to DIRCO to be apostilled
Hi Mikki, I met you at a right time. Tell me more about Deco. Who are they?
Eish, I was also confused about that, durco... they'll Apostle your pcc and degree after saqa verifies it.
Thank you so much for this 🤍
I wanted to ask if one is able to to the police clearance and the SAQA verification at the same time or you must first wait for your the police clearance?
When sending your documents to DIRCO do you have to use PostNet Brooklyn or is any PostNet fine depending on the city you in?
Your verified degree is automatically sent to brooklyn postnet as far as i know, so it's easier to just use them..
Hey dear i have N6 in HR do i quality
Why did you choose South Korea? And not China as im seeing alot of SAs, Taiwan, Japan...etc? Trying to decide which one to choose
There were a lot barriers to entry in China due to covid. That’s why I chose Korea. If it wasn’t for covid, I think I would be in China. Nonetheless, I don’t regret my decision of coming to Korea. Good luck with your journey and thank you for watching ✨
I'm not from an English country so you mean I can't become English Teacher in Korea?
Hi Niki may I ask is it necessary to have a degree Caz I have a national Certificate level 5 certificate n currently doing tefl course
A degree is required my love.
Hey Mikki, thank you so much, ijooo. I wouldn't know where to start. You explained very well.
I am a Senior Education Specialist with GDE, but want to explore after my divorce is finalized. I do have a Masters Degree in Adult Education and Training and would love to work in universities or colleges. I have 21 years teaching experience in high schools and currently manages FET phase in Gauteng, policy implementation and systems development.
What are my chances of finding a vacancy in tertiary institutions? I love your advice of having multiple recruitment agencies. I cant thank you enough.
Hey Fifi. I’m glad I could help. Unfortunately my knowledge is only limited to what I share online. I’m also fairly new to the teaching industry here so I don’t know how people get jobs in that department. I’ll keep an eye out though. If I ever hear anything I’ll come back and reply here to update you. All the best and may God grant you the success you deserve in your new life ❤️✨
Very helpful…since can I teach in Korea with Advanced diploma?
Yes
Hello Mikki, how much did it cost you to do the TEFL certificate also does this certificate ever expire?
Please use TEFL Universal
Okay but where are the supposed recruiters that you said you'd link, I've been through a lot of them and want to learn about more recruiters instead of the usual ones people use
Please go on Dave’s ESL cafe ✨
Hey Mikki, i just wabted to ask if you can still qualify for an E2 visa with a 3 year college degree? Or is it strictly a 4 year degree that is required?
If you are from a country like UK, then you are qualified for the E-2 Visa
Hey Mikki,I’m currently trying to go teach in Korea and I’m hearing conflicting answers about the diploma stuff. My friend who is in Korea says you can teach with a diploma. Some places on the internet say you can teach with a diploma. You say advanced diploma, which is it?😢 I have a university diploma and I’m currently gathering my paperwork for Korea and I want to know whether or not they’ll accept my university diploma.
Hi, are you in any groups, I'm gathering my documents as well...
Btw, it's best to just dm epik...
Hey Mikki, just finished the course with Open Academy, do I have to pay to get my certificate of achievement and transcripts all together?
No you don’t. You pay when you’re buying the course before you start.
@@Hey_Its_Mikki can I pop you a mail on your Hotmail address, with the
screenshot, I'm starting to low-key panic lol?
@@ntombizime_sithole sure!
Thank you, I'll send you an email shortly.
Can Indian not reach English in korea
Hey Mikki.. I'm Malwande can I please ask, when registering for the Tefl course is PayPal the only option to pay for it?
No. You should be able to pay with your banking card.
@@Hey_Its_Mikki thank you for your response. I saw a credit card option and PayPal option but no debit card option
Thank you so much sis I managed to do the payment
Hi Mikki. Do I send my undergrad degree or my PGCE to be verified?
I don’t know. I only have an undergraduate degree so it’s not something I had to think about.
Hey mikki can I teach eish online using a phone?
If so on which platforms
Hey Busi. You can but i feel like it would be very inconvenient. I don’t know which platforms because iTalki requires you to sign up on desktop. Goodluck! ✨
Guys is the Tefl certificate accredited from the link because I’m thinking of doing it
It is ❤️
@@Hey_Its_Mikki thank you
I have an honours degree so which one should I verify that or the undergraduate one? Do you think presenting the postgrad one would make a difference?
I don’t think so if it’s not a masters but you can do further research. An undergraduate degree would suffice. Good luck! ✨
Both must be verified.
Hey Mikki. Do you pay the recruiter?
No
Hi Mikki, do they need a recommendation letter? Thanks for the vid ❤
No. There isn’t anything they need that I didn’t mention in this video. Pleasure! Thank you for watching ✨
@@Hey_Its_Mikki Thank you so much 💓
which recruiters did you use i dont see that in your description box
Please go on Dave’s ESL cafe 🙏🏽
Which program did you apply with?
None, shes went the hagwon route..
I wanted to teach English in Korea, I'm American but also have a Brazilian nationality and I'm currently in Brazil. Do you think is possible? Also my bachelor degree is Brazilian
Where is your passport from?
@@Hey_Its_Mikki US, although I can get both (don't think there's a situation where the Brazilian passport is worth something better tho)
@@gabimezencio5996 if it’s from the US then you can 🤗
hi there, what if one has a diploma?
An advanced diploma is acceptable
Hi mikki
Can you help me get teaching job once I arrive in south Korea
I think it would be best if you spoke to a recruiter
I don't see the information for the recruiters in the description box
Please go on Dave’s ESL cafe ✨
Hello, is it possible to verify a degree using completion letter if you haven't received a certificate?
I don’t know. But Korean immigration wants a copy of your degree. So even if they verified it in South Africa with a letter of completion, South Korea would still want to see the physical copy.
Yes you can apply using Letter of Completion
Hello, I just wanted to ask. Is there really no way I could be teaching english in Korea, just because I´m from Czech Republic???
You can if you marry a Korean citizen. Other than that, no.
How many times do you go home t?
I haven’t been home since I got here
Hi Mikki, please share with me your Recruiters
Please go to Dave’s ESL. You’ll find them there
I wanna know about your social life in Korea
It’s great! I’m loving it so far
And do they require medicals? And how much did that cost you.
One ytuber said it cose her 1780
1000 for the x-ray and 780 for referral from gp...
Do they take diploma and PGCE ?
I’m not sure
Listen whole South Africa is coming to South Korea 😂
Come! 😂❤️
Can I be a english teacher if I'm not a native English speaker??
Based on my current knowledge, no. ✨
Hi Cc. I have teaching qualifications, but they are PGCE; I do not have a degree. Do I qualify to teach in South Africa?
Hey! Unfortunately I don’t have any knowledge about teaching in South Africa.
Hi sister.it was typing error. I wanted to say south Korea.

@@Hey_Its_Mikki I'm poor😭
I also heard that Pakistani can also apply for teaching in south korea, is it really?
I don’t know. You would have to do further research. My apologies.
So south Korea don't accept non native candidates
As far as I know, they don’t.
so basically parents must take a loan out for you because these expenses are insane if you unemployed
