I use my Quick Hitch & my 6ft blade as a as ballast almost all the time. Sometimes its a pain to use the blade cuz its wide & i maneuver in tight places. I wish i did have the weights or a ballast box. Sometimes i use my 260 backhoe attatchment as ballast weight. At "10:05" of this video, what size bucket is that on the H120 loader???? That aint the standard one that comes with the loader. . . . .it dont look like it anyways. it looks bigger
13:56 looks to me like there's lots of pressure on the inside of the toggle handle on the quick hitch. I love the idea of a quick hitch that allows for added weight. Looks like if a pin was added through the top plate to hold the bracket away from the handle it might be better. I know people may not want to drill a hole . Maybe only us folks with cheap HF QC's. Good job with the video. Wish more folks would watch it!
Thank you, thank you…….we love new options, and the education on ballast is always welcomed.
Really nice work on the design of that bracket. I can see how it adds more value to your existing set ups.
I LOVE the quick hitch side bracket idea. The sides maybe need to extend longer across the top, so you have 2 bolts across the underside (slots for adjustment?) of the crossbar, and maybe one against the vertical side member, again I would punch slots to adjust for member thickness for different makes. Punch the slots, then make your bends, weld the top piece on. Perhaps the outside edge needs a 1/4" relief where the locking handle was hitting it. Great idea!!
Thanks for the rundown of ideas. For snow blowing with my diesel garden tractor, I made a concrete block that has a draw bar embedded in it with angle iron coming out of the top. It is compact (fits between the lower 3 pt arms), heavy (mine is about 400 lb but customizable during the casting), and cheap (maybe $50 including draw bar, angle iron, and concrete).
Looks great!
I really enjoy your videos, great content and lots of info. Keep up the awesome work and keep the videos coming. 👍
You have the best tractor informational videos, I love watching them. Looking forwards to getting some attachments ordered from your website in the spring. God Willing.
You should add 2 flats on the shoulder of the threaded pins so they'll be easier to keep tight, and people won't be tempted to use a pipe wrench or Channel Locks on them.
Great video on ballast weight!! Already had too many scares before I got smart and used ballast. Like the idea of the side brackets for ballast on the quick hitch. Have a Safe Day
Ballast is a MUST...you address that often and that's a good thing...I like the Idea...another option and no implement mounting space lost..very good !
pc
Hey it’s newbi here again. I just loaded up my ballast box with sand. And yes there is a big difference in the ride. Thank you for promoting this safety issue. I’m thinking I might need a dubbed wheel option I had a very close call digging out a big old root. Great video
Love the great info.and videos
Seems convenient and doesn't limit you. Nice!
Love that idea of the bracket that is just what I’ve been looking for for my I match hitch hopefully it comes in green 👍
That quick hitch attachment is nice. Love the bracket for suitcase weights, the 2" receiver hitch, chain lugs, and chainsaw bracket. Great idea and so happy to see its made in USA
Use a U-bolt with an extended top arm (going more towards the top 3pt link) to keep it from tilting down. Could do the same on the down leg as well. It would also make it easy to do multiple U bolt sizes for various thickness quick hitches. Makes you not reliant on the corner bracing.
Those weight brackets for the QH are a great idea! American innovation at its best! Congratulations on the patent pending!
Hey Courtney. I think that is a great idea! Couple of tweaks left as you say. Feel free to send a set along and I will be happy to demo through the winter on a non-Speeco quick hitch! Yeah I would need to buy the suitcase weights for sure. Willing to take one for the team on the weights.. LOL! Thanks for sharing!
Courtney, I think those are a fantastic idea👍 Look forward to them being available. I have the Quick Hitch and being able to add weights to the side would be perfect. Super idea👍
Another brilliant idea with the quick hitch weight holders, I want it! Maybe a "compression set screw or bolt" it the opposite top corner can help keep it level and in place. Very nice design, keep us posted!
Super excited for that weight bracket, definitely going to be getting one!
Thank you for the video
Thanks for another great video Courtney.
You have got me thinking about those quick hitch side weight brackets, and how I could adapt them to carry a shovel or some chain as well.
All the best,
Ben from Nova Scotia
Good run down of ballast weight option. I like the quick hitch side weight brackets. Good idea. Thanks for sharing.
I love the quick hitch brackets and I'd love to test them out for you! I have a new 1025r with imatch but have limited front to back storage in my shed. I'm looking to get some suitcase weights for their versatility but tying up the 3pt with a weight bracket is a concern. Thank you for your videos, they've been invaluable!
Love love love the quick hitch brackets idea! I have a JD 3032e. If you need a tester I'm in! This was a great video. Thanks for all the ideas.
Courtney, those are ALL great options for ballast. I also like the prototype weight bracket concept. Adding a bolt/pin to the lower section may prevent the tipping of the bracket.
PS: I got your joke, you just couldn't hear me chuckling lol
Keep up the good ideas and videos!
Great video. Love the prototype bracket. I would extend where the bolt goes closer to the center of the tractor and add a second bolt or have a sleeve for the bolts so that it takes up the room and make it more universal fit. Then I would extend the weight bracket down a little more and maybe add a bolt hole there as well that way you can make the gap a little longer to clear the lock handle. I would be willing to test it out for you.
The prototype weight bracket, I know what you're aiming for and that's an awesome idea.
Always a good reminders so you don't get complacent 👍
The 2nd thing I bought for my tractor was a box blade. I added 200 lbs of removeable wt and leave the blade on the tractor most of the time, it weighs well over 600 lbs. Also it protects the back of the tractor backing up in the woods.
Love the new weight brackets. Any idea when they will be ready? Like them over the wheel weights. Keep the great videos coming!
I enjoy all your videos and this is a really cool idea. I have built some contraptions myself to accomplish the same goal but they don't look quite as pretty haha. Hopefully it will be available soon. Have a good day
Once brackets are ready for market you should do a bundle with speech quick hitch, brackets, and suitcase weights. Your channel is my go to for attachments. Keep up the good works with your videos
Really like the idea of the side brackets. Could see how they hold up to a Northern Ontario winter for you, once you work out shipping lol. Great video as always.
Courtney, very glad you are trying/ making attachments for your/our tractors for better efficiency & safety. Thanks for your numerous camera set-ups, angles, close -ups & voice overs. Much appreciate all your efforts filming these new gizmos...but hey...I am disappointed we have no overhead droan shots! Hey, don't forget to utilize your droan pilot(s) during your filming! We old USAF types want to see some pilot 'look down' views of you farm boys running your tractors making the earth full of nice, soft, yummy vegetation! LoL!👍👍👍👍🧑🔧🍷LOL! On Sir!
The quick hitch is awesome. I was skeptical at first. The dealer already had it installed. I am glad I bought it
Nice idea 👍
Just received the Speeco from Good Works. Wow I’d that come fast! I love the idea of putting on those side weight brackets. Following!
Find out if any major quick hitch companies are using a more narrow frame. If so, have another C-channel cut and and drilled to stack right inside the original you formed for the speedco. So basically they're just putting another 1/8in layer or whatever inside that match the bolt holes to keep it snug.
Great idea you have for the quick hitch weight brackets! I would be interested in a set at some point if they would fit my generic Rural King QH.
Guter Bericht! Machen Sie bitte weiter! Ich habe einen Oleo-Mac +RC inclusive.
Grüße aus Berlin / germany.
This new bracket will aid in down pressure on three point implements. Nice idea. I have tied cinder blocks on my York rake to accomplish that. They never stayed long.
I see a phenomenal use for your prototype. We do some sidewalk snow removal with a back blade. Having that extra weight for scraping off snow pack from driving forward would be a huge help.
Courtney, something I did that made a significant difference in the front end weight was to have my front wheels sent off and "foam filled." This served two purposes. First, I was getting tired of getting constant flats on my front tires. As you know, the front tires take a beating especially when doing lots of heavy loader work. The final straw was when I had to go off to work for a couple of months and came back home to find the (almost new) tires had gone flat and being flattened that length of time had destroyed them. The second reason, that was frankly unexpected, is that the "hardened foam" they put in the tires is actually VERY heavy. It probably added 350+lbs to my front end. So, a nice addition of weight AND they'll never go flat! Getting them foam-filled isn't cheap, but in the long run, given the cost of repairing and/or replacing torn up tires, it's quite a bit cheaper.
how has this been in the two years and can you mention the specific product?
Good Ideas!
looking forward to your suitcase weight holders
For the porotype weight bracket, I would use U bolts to hold the bracket down instead of a cross bolt. It would be less finicky with regards to the quick attach dimensions and hold the weights better since it would be counteracting the force of gravity. Just a thought.
The quick hitch side brackets are brilliant !!
I'd buy a set with a full set of #70 suitcase weights tomorrow if they were in production.
If I were offering design ideas, I'd make the top section a few inches longer and have two bolt holes horizontally to go under the top bar. That *may* help with the sag as well.
If you have a list of wannabe beta testers...I'll jump on that :)
Keep up the good work !!
i love this idea! I have an 8 ft everything attachment blade that can use more weight to help keep the blade engaged. I can provide my quick hitch dimensions for your database.
I have been thinking about doing that to my quick hitch. But I was going to weld something to them. Your idea is better.
That's a nice upgrade on the hitch with square tubing. If those hitch pins screw into the tubing and it's open I would mix up some cement/concrete and pour in the tube to add weight. And that's a good idea on the brackets for weights on the quick hitch.
That quick hitch weight bracket is an option I would like!
I like the side weight brackets. A provision to bolt on a hydraulic hose keeper would be right at home on this!
Sweet on the prototype I have a jd one and in Michigan if u need someone to test, and will probably buy afterwards
I’d definitely be interested in the quick hitch brackets!
Hey that's nice!!!! 👍👍
Very cool idea. I’m definitely interested. John Deere I-Match hitch would be my version. I’ll be a product tester 😉
Great idea! I have a quick hitch from tractor supply. If you need any dimensions to see how it would work let me know
I'm actually working on a ballast option for my 1025r that will use a steel plate under the tractor where the mower deck would go. I will never use a mower deck or snow-blower, so I don't care about the mid PTO. I figure a metal plate cut to fit under with 3" sides filled with concrete and bolted to the under-frame should provide several hundred lbs of ballast as low as possible without impacting clearance. As a bonus, it will function as a skid plate.
Love the side bracket ballast idea !! Will def put a set on my 4720 when you get them produced. Would love to beta test a set if you need volunteers :-)
Two ideas is to replace the single bolt with a u-bolt that goes under the top bar and maybe across the side to tie it into the corner better. The other idea is to run flat bar or something similar across from corner to corner to keep them from twisting. More metal =more weight, but the draw back is either there is more work for you or the customer when it comes to setup as well as increased cost.
The prototype weight bracket is pretty interesting, I think it might work on my LandPride QH15 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
The Quik Hitch ballast is an awesome idea, ballast without tying up the quitch hitch. Will it fit my John Deere iMatch Quik Hitch? I just bought my first tractor, a 2020 JD2032R and I looking for attachments to manage 10 acres I bought in December 2021. Love your channel, been watching it for a few years even when I didn't have a tractor. I'm in Vermont and we get some heavy and wet snow so I'm looking into snow blowing and or plowing.
For ballast weight, I bought a ballast box and filled it with old solid marble tombstones that I broke up with a sledge hammer and then filled around the stones with runny wet concrete. Weighs in at 750 Lbs exactly. Perfect amount of weight for a 36HP tractor.
I've got a Land Pride QH15 came bundled with my tractor. I may be interested in those side brackets for that application!
I need one, for left side weight mowing around my pond. Hope I can use full size JD weights on it.
Great idea for the side-saddle ballast weights - I'll order them along with a BLACK SPEECO... any of those available yet!?
Good morning. For Rim guard, look up tire shops that deal with Ag.
Instead of moving the bolt holes if you are trying to fit different quick-hitches, you could have a variety of sizes of nylon sleeves (like bushings) that fit over the bolt that would adjust the tightness. That was the thought that crossed my mind when I saw you jiggling the bracket because of the loose fit.
Love this channel and the efforts to try new things. I caution you though, you are moving the weight away from the center. Test the stability with the overhung loads before you send this to market.
just from what i could see, it seemed like those bolts were under a decent amount of pressure
this is just a suggestion if its possible, but i might consider extending the bracket so that it reaches more towards the center line of the tractor to have new bolt hole there instead so its less likely to cause any problems when/if a bolt breaks on your current prototype design
To make the contact point closer on the side of the quick hitch try including flat plate 1/4” steel shims. Once the owner figures out how many shims are needed include some 3M VHB heavy bond tape to secure the plates.
I built my own quick hitch as a test build and have bars sticking off the side the same dimension as the hole in weight lifting weights and big nuts on the end the weights I get free or almost free from marketplace and can fit 4 per stud 1stud each side using 20 kg plate weights 160kg not including the hitch weight and could add another stud each side if needed so 320kg so about 705lbs theoretically but still testing with the single stud each side so far. unsure how that weight lower on the hitch for the 2nd stud would effect the hitch bowing inward but with the one stud each side up top similar to Ur setup seams to be great so far.it also has a 2 inch receiver set back slightly and below the top hook but depending on the implement this could interfere with the PTO shaft but for my implements I haven't had an issue but gets close on the wood chipper at full height.
Good idea with the weight bracket. Do you still have plans for your own ballast box with weight bracket?
I really like your prototype for the extra weight and not taking up the 3-point..I’d be interested in a CAT 2 for an iMatch quick hitch for use with 100lb weights
And I want a set for Cat 1 for ny JD 1025R
I want those quick hitch weight brackets for my JD 2032r with JD quick hitch!
Combine that with a 3 point quick attach and I'm sold.
I see in the background on the shelf some festive lights. Are you working to patent them for tractor decor? Maybe hang them from the ROPS... 🤣
I added Rim Guard to my back tires on my 1025R. When I dropped them off I could carry one tire/rim in each hand. When they brought them out with a forklift and pallet, I grabbed one tire holy smokes they were heavy. Luckily it was on a forklift and pushed them into the pick up bead.
A quick question on the SpeeCo QH... Although the draft pin hooks are sized to fit snug around the bottom and sides of a CAT-1 draft link pin, there is a significant gap above the pin before it hits the draft pin latches. Has this given you any real world issues or concerns? To be fair, I have no idea if the bushing style quick hitches have this same issue or not. Thanks.
thanks for sharing the video my kioti tractor dealership told me if I add more than one weight per back wheel @ 100 pounds per weight I would void my factory warranty on my rx7320. this is a big tractor it needs weight even though I put liquid in the wheels it's really not enough weight
I noticed in the equipment you displayed, one was a 3 pt hitch, PTO driven sprayer for a compact tractor. Something like a 55-60 gallon unit. I checked your website for an offering, but didn't find one. Do you stock those sprayers or have a association with a manufacturer?
I got it! .... Lightly!.....
Hay can u get wheel weights for a kubota l 2501 I haven’t seen any on your sight and was looking for a set And that prototype you’re working on it also help with putting down pressure on some attachments
I will be a buyer for the new bracket. I have a specific need that will address.
Would that bracket work for my quick hitch when I raise and lower the back blade plowing snow. I raise and lower blade 1000 times or more a snow storm.
I noticed that when you're hanging on the weight it pitches down so I would recommend some way I'm keeping that from happening that might help with the with those levers on the quick hitch you might go with a brace across the brackets
Love the idea you got there maybe just put a slot on the side of it to put a chainsaw on it I just got to Speedco quick hitch from you I love it it was well package will be buying more from your website
While a backhoe adds plenty of weight most of it is to high up and adds to rollover potential. 1/2 loaded tires , a mower deck and wheel spacers are the best combo for hilly terrain.
thanks for sharing the video, I want to add weight to my rear wheels on my brand new kioti RX 7320. kioti told me if I added more than one set of weights equaling 100 lbs per rear wheel it would void my factory warranty.
Is the VB 2.0 now Landpride QH15 compatible? Looks like you've moved the upper three point attachment around to accommodate that, and hopefully narrowed the frame by an 1/8" or so.
I'll also be happy to test out a set of the side brackets on a QH15. I've already got enough 70lb weights to load it up :)
Would you know where to get gaurds for rear caution lights ? 4 or 5 inch square .
How much weight should I put on rear tires on a John Deere 750 use for mowing bush hog and drag blade box blade ?
Please let me know when the Versa Quick attach 2.0 is available!
If you had a 1" or 1-1/2" eccentric sleeve over that bolt it could be rotated until it was snug on the gusset before you tighten it up.....
Really like the quick hitch side bracket idea. Would have been a better video without the shot of snow lol.
LOL, Yea we get it !!!!!!!!!
