- Wow! The Knuckles series released and gives us a bit of info going into Sonic Movie 3, but the reviews are coming in and everyone is very mixed on it.

I feel like Kid Cudi's performance wasn't great objectively, but you could just TELL that he LOVED the role he was given, and that energy was just contagious to me. His performance just made me smile.

I feel like you're right. People didn't like it because it didn't have Sonic on the screen for much. They should expect something without Sonic with the title and description.

there's definitely several issues but genuinely the show would have been way better received if Knuckles simply got more screentime
But fans should not worry about Sonic 3 cause only episode 1 was directed by Jeff Fowler and tons of people told me they either consider episode 1 thte best one or that they really liked that episode lot
So I genuinely think there is no reason at all to worry about Sonic 3
Yeah. The issue is more than series tend to be on the cheaper side than movies. and with expensive CGI characters, they are the most expensive part.
So a series looking to save money would cut down on the CGI characters.
A movie generally doesn't have this issue.

If anything, they shouldn't have made a series, but a Knuckles movie and ova special, since that way they wouldn't be forced to extend a series so much with unnecessary stuff.
I actually enjoyed, and loved it. We needed a little fun before the massive intensive emotional rollercoaster we’ll get in December. Knuckles also needed someone to help him let loose and realize that he has a place to call home than just Sonic and Tails. Wade was the perfect guy for him and Knuckles also helped him become stronger and more confident considering the nightmare childhood he went through with his demonically cruel sister and crazy mother.

I like the characterisation of Knuckles but there's way too much Wade, especially in the last few eps

The action was literally maybe 3 minutes in the entire 6 episodes, there was an entire episode in a kitchen table.

@@ThatBugBehindYou some of the elements like when Wade receives the bounty hunter dude’s card (forgot his name) it spoke to him. Plus when Wade was hiding from Kid Cudi’s character he does that thing where he pretends to be an object. As in creative I was probably referring to that one episode where they do this low budget rock play and I found that to be creative and fun.
For me the show was a solid 7/10 for me.
I really enjoyed the entire Knuckles show because Knuckles and Wade were such a funny dynamic duo and their chemistry worked well when they were both on the screen. The story was fun, animation was movie quality, and it felt like an enjoyable addion to the Sonic Cinematic Universe. The show is a bit budget and cgi is expensive so that might of played a factor but I wish Knuckles had a lot more screen time in the show.
I think the Knuckles show is a perfect exemple of how Twitter doesn't equate to the entire world. It seems a lot of people outside of Twitter and the Sonic fandom are enjoying this series, and Sonic fans outside of Twitter like it or are just indifferent, but don't hate it.

@@bitzgames Discord is obviously gonna be much worse for echo chambers due to it being more niche and invite only. The discord he was talking about is made up of his friends who are gonna be huge Sonic fans, it's not a good way to gauge reception.
personally i liked it, the show isnt perfect but it did its job to entertain people, even if it was half the fan base! it felt like a good small adventure for knuckles, no world ending threat, just a small adventure with his pal wade and his family, it was a series about knuckles trying to fit in and wade helped him with that! as long as the series entertained half the fan base then it did its job!
Look I thought Kid Cudi’s acting was cartoonishly corny which I vibed with it made me laugh. Also bro is honestly a better voice actor than actor so I was shocked he was given a live action role. Bro killed it in Entergalactic and Trolls 3
I just finished watching it, that was Wade with knuckles in it.
I think they are heading right direction.
These are teen to adult themes in the Knuckles series that clearly shows that this is the atmosphere that he, Sonic and Tails are still living.
We are going by the music that we listen to because they have exactly their new homes to protect before going out on their own and expanding their adventures outwards.
Sonic 3 is going to show the views of all the other characters from their series and what they know about Sonic Team and how they are a very important part of why Eggman is the way that he is.
And I think the Eggman empire is going to be a massive part of Part 3 and the movie is going to massage right places of the most experienced Sonic fans that not even the new fans are going to pick up until later on.
My BIGGEST beef about this series is that Knuckles was given this grand quest to train Wade and yet HE NEVER TRAINED HIM. So what was this quest for anyway?
I’m pretty sure that The Buyer was referring to Eggman when he talked about a “Robotnik” losing his mind upon discovering Sonic.

I mean, I don’t think it’s that way… It is simply that, if you advertise a product as something that caters to a certain public, that public expects it to stick to it.
It’s like making a Zelda series, and 80% of the screen time is of a guy called “Jeff” that wants to find a girlfriend, the series is set in Toronto, and Mario’s mushrooms are a power up. Sure, the show can be better or worse nonetheless, but why would it be a “Zelda” show…?
I watched the show with my friends and I’m the only sonic fan in our group and this still had the same thoughts that I had about there isn’t a lot of knuckles one this six episode special

For series being called the "Knuckles Series" I feel as though, not that there was not enough Knuckles, but that there was not enough development for Knuckles. Sure, Knuckles learned a few things, but it was more development of Wade. Sure, he may be Knuckles's protégé but at this point, it may as has been the "Wade Series". Even the ending was far too abrupt with no conclusiveness as far as Knuckles's part in the story goes. Does he ever go back home? Is Maddie upset that he left? Does he talk it out with Sonic and form some resolution? Does he have anything to show his friends after the journey? Does he join the Wipple family instead? Is he grounded for even longer? Nope, sorry guys, he jumps into the air with Wade and that's the end.
I don't know if you've noticed in episode 4, when wade wore that knuckles costume, a character that looked a lot like iblis aka the flames of disaster appeared in knuckles' past implying that the next major villan in the eventual fourth sonic will be Solaris also meaning mephiles the dark, silver the hedgehog and blaze the cat will appear also and according to producer Toby ascher, future films will be " avengers- level events". Thus making Solaris a good first major antagonist/ legitimate threat in the sonic The Hedgehog movies and giving sonic 06 a sort of redemption arc knowing what a mess that game was.
no one is talking about this and how it possibly gives knuckles some interesting story lines and powers unlike the main games not giving him any focus how does knuckles tie into the flames of disaster and the iblis trigger if the stage play is really knuckles past in this universe did he really fight and defeat iblis for the time being?? it's really interesting

Knuckles carried the show, even when he wasn't on screen his presence was felt because Wade has to find his power through knuckles example.

Except for the part where knuckles is integral to wades character arc.
Knuckles completed his hero journey and needs to learn to settle down, and Wade has to undergo his own hero journey.

Honestly I don’t think the show is that cringy. The acting was fine since it felt like a live action cartoon. I know I had fun with this show and I found myself laughing and smiling.
It’s not perfect but I enjoyed it.
Im just happy it’s not cheap looking. Knuckles looks good and the action is great.
Also the funniest thing is the fact that Wade was just ok with his sister being killed just because he couldn’t stand her.
If they’d done the “Wade and Knuckles” name, they could have also done an “& Knuckles” reference in the title

@@creeperchumsworth1219 no it won’t work at all. These villains need their own whole arch’s. Metal sonic deserves to be a main antagonist for a whole movie, shadow for one, and chaos for another. It won’t make sense juggling all these villains. That is squashing so many game stories together for literally no reason other than to rush them to the screen. It is an absolutely awful idea to shove them all into one film.
It's kinda funny how my two favorite franchises entering their movie phases are having the opposite problems. The Sonic movie franchise good for general audiences, but the fans want more for them. Five Nights at Freddy's is confusing general audiences, but fans love it. I personally like both of them, but I do wish the Sonic movies focused more on its source material, while I wish the FNaF movies introduced the series better to a more general audience.
P.S: I've never heard of Kid Cudi, I had no idea he was some celebrity, and I thought his performance wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but decent.

The year of Shadow & Knuckles
I am sooo happy because this show is really good. The only flaws i had in the show were: the ending where wade and knuckles just high five in the air and that's it, i think they should've made an extra scene showing how wade has grown as a character and as a cop maybe showing us wade like capturing a theif maybe and he shows that he isn't that same weak cop and everyone especially tom is proud of him and then wade and knuckles go training maybe😅 and sonic and tails notice that knuckles has figured things out on earth and sees it as his new home. And yeah the knuckles theme song from sa1 would've been the most perfect song at the very end of the show. If only the gun agents would've looked like a bit more serious, for me i thought rhat hey were a bit goofy when they talk and fight sometimes, but they have a good reason to whycthey betrayed gun.

Yeah congrats, this is what the Halo fandom also has gone through, the toxic fandom for videogames have been given too much room to grow.
That all depends on your concept of toxic fandom. I for one don't think merely disliking a film, game, and or show and voicing that is toxicity. However, trying to force creators and voice actors to obey your head canons is going into toxic territory. That's not mentioning the intense online hounding towards actors/voice actors and creators, in which some fans want them to validate their views on characters. Overall, it's a fine line between toxic fandoms and die hard fandoms.

Right, it's the reason why Minions, Cars 2, and The Patrick Star Show doesn't work since they have the comic relief person as the main focus. And i think the writers were trying to have Wade's story be similar to Po's story from the first Kung Fu Panda movie where it's about 'a guy who's clumsy that is seen as a joke by everyone but becomes a respected warrior and hero in the end.'

Id love if they have Eggman die at the end of sonic 2, and he comes back turning out to be metal sonic, and sonic and shadow are at odds until shadow finds out who metal is and how he wants to use him for his own gain

The main issue with the series is that despite being called Knuckles, it focused more on Wade and his family, with Knuckles being more of a minor character and mentor who only takes the spotlight when the plot calls for it.

I think I understood her character when she told her mother "You always pick his side" (him being Wade).
Their father leaving also affected her, and she felt left out since her mother seemingly paid more attention to Wade. And so she started acting out to get attention, even if it's bad attention.
It's something that can happen when children don't get the attention that every child should and deserves to get.
And she still acts that way and keeps saying how she's better than Wade with her job at the FBI and everything because she wants to prove her mother that she's worthy of the attention that he got but that she didn't.
And she resents him a bit because of that, getting all the attention that she couldn't have. It's pretty sad and I feel for her. But she's able to get along with her family again during the second half of the show.
But still, she still acts that way a bit, like when she refuses to let Wade free her and tries to free herself, because even when things get better, it doesn't mean it's easy to get rid of years of jealousy, insecurity and of feeling left out. These wounds take time to heal.
But in defense of Wanda's mother, she didn't mean to neglect Wanda. She too was affected by her husband leaving them, and she was in a difficult state both emotionally and financially, and she tries to make up for it now.

Eh. I agree with Channel Pups opinion on the show. You can’t fault sonic fans for wanting to see, you know, sonic characters. Knuckles has like 10 minutes of screen time in the last three episodes.
Worse than that it’s in the first 2 ep to get you hooked in then do LITERALLY NOTHING with background characters for the remainder of the show.

The Super Mario brothers movie made so much more money, but Sega said they didn't want that kind of style movie, where the characters aren't in touch with real-life actors who have to make themselves fit in the real/video game world. As the world starts to accept these new actors. Sega has a lot to other different games and heroes to bring aboard, and it would be helpful to have familiar actors in place.
I mostly enjoyed it but the whole time I was thinking how we could be developing knuckles or showing this versions back story more

I think it's so weird that we Sonic fans are like: "Where are all the humans!?!" When it comes to the games and comics but then with the movies we're all like "Why are there so many humans!?! Where are all of my furry animals!?!"
About kid cudi's acting, it didn't affect me because the dubbers made a miracle by making him more convincing.

It definitely wasn’t perfect, but I thought it was a cute little side story in the grand scheme of things. And seeing Knuckles be such a fish out of water was entertaining.
I'm glad i'm not the only one who enjoyed it. My only real issues were the constant unsubtle product placements, I swear at least one scene in every episode was literally just an blatant advertisement for something. Also I am not a fan of human characters acting as cringe and childish as Sonic does in the first movie. Sure it's okay when Sonic does it because he's literally a child from another planet but when grown adults who have upper echelon jobs within government behave the same way then that just bothers me and isn't right no matter which way you look at it.
Like, Home Alone was a funny kids movie but the bad guys in that movie still managed to come across as serious threats even while surviving each convoluted boobytrap thrown their way.
And even though I kinda liked the show, I have to admit I have a very high cringe tolerance. Plus, this show had about as much right being called the Knuckles show as the first Sonic movie has being called the Tom Wachowski movie. Like you said, the Knuckles show felt like the Sonic movie except with the two main character's roles swapped which means the human character, Wade, was the real lead.
Sonic tails and knuckles look 10 times better and more realistic than how they looked in sonic 2 to the point where i feel weird going back to see how they looked
I'm surprised absolutely nobody is talking about the iblis trigger stuff in the musical episode and how it ties knuckles to the flames of disaster that's insanely interesting to me and I wonder what they're going to do with that
my only gripe with the show is that knuckles doesn't have much of an arc. his arc is supposed to be about his struggles with belonging on Earth, but besides episode 3, we don't really get any of that. meanwhile, wade "daddy issues" whipple over here gets solid character development every episode. in fact, wade's story is great! i just wish we could've gotten that for knux too.
I didn't want more of knuckles in the show, I just wanted the show to be more about knuckles. That's the mistake a lot of critics are making in regards to the screen time issue, in that its a show about Wade resolving his family issues, which it certainly could still have had if it integrated Knuckles into that plot better.
Hm, I see, i hope the Third Movie gets a better reception.

I feel like if they had given Knuckles a scene at the end of the show where he feels more content about things on his own it might have concluded better. Also I like Sonic Prime Season 3 and thought the energy was great (first season did feel slow though). What was the bit you didn't like?

I liked that show. The only thing I have a problem with is how Sonic Twitter is extremely over reacting. I mean unironically call it the worst thing in Sonic media ever? How they all of a sudden started to say they were too harsh on Prime? And Sam. My boy. He said it's only his opinion, but you can see on that review that it doesn't deserve a pass and that we should not settle for absolute mediocrity. It looks more like that the "it's just my opinion" tweet is now just a self-defence spell so not so many people can call him out for this. And it shows how after 18 years the fandom on Twitter didn't changed even a little bit.
It's a great Show but a terrible sonic show (not as bad a prime though) but I will not let it slide if they did this again!

Missed opportunities. Great opportunity to introduce Rouge The Bat and build her relationship with Knuckles. Establish Angel Island or at least a version of it. Nope we get a story about Wade.
Ep 1-2 and 4 were my favorite. But was just disinterested the rest. The bounty hunter and the little girl was weird. Wade's sister was just a psycho path and I just don't care enough about Wades character to invest in his family or journey.

Positives: Knuckles scenes were good, CG was pretty impressive for a show, everything about the bounty hunter character I adored and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t laughing a lot, however it was mainly at the negatives
Negatives: bowling plot was dumb, wade was rlly annoying by the end of the show, plot was Uber predictable, not nearly enough action for a knuckles show, not nearly enough KNUCKLES for a knuckles show, episodes 3/4 are a fever dream, show just kinda…stops? Rather than concludes.
Also the mushroom thing from sonic movie 1 is the subtle jab at Mario. It also could be a nod to Sonic and knuckles mushroom hill level.

I remember when watching this. I had a moment where I forgot that I was watching a show around Knuckles.

Watching Knuckles learning about Jewish traditions is not something I thought I would EVER see
I suspect we'll see the Biolizard. my prediction is that Gerald found the Echidnas, got fascinated with an ancient prophecy about the chaos emeralds, chaos and sonic, and started recreating teh creatures from it.. kinda like he did in the games. they play it as "haha look at this silly doctor believing in gods and monsters... It would lay the groundwork really well for the supernatural elements of the series, using the professor to tease chaos so that his appearance won't feel forced when we do that story.
We have a Sonic X Season 1 issue. Knuckles isn’t the main character, Wade is. Much like how Sonic X focused way too much on Chris at times.
There’s a good balance between how much time Knuckles gets and how much Wade gets. This is just like when Doctor Strange 2 came out and people were complaining about how Strange was sidelined for Wanda (he wasn’t)

for sonic two they really dropped the ball for not putting Crush 40 with super sonic. Kinda hope we get it for sonic 3.
Also love that the mini series is essentially what Sonic SatAM season 3 would’ve been: what happens when Robotnik is out of the picture and all his tech is used by his former lackeys.
Here is my take on Humans in the Sonic Movies. First off, Eggman is a human, so if you were to remove all humans, you'd be removing Eggman. Second, there are lots of humans in multiple Sonic games. Especially when it comes to Shadow's backstory. I'd be upset if there wasn't humans in Sonic Movie 3.

I feel that people are confused. It wasn't what they wanted from Knuckles, but that doesnt make it bad. It was still good, it just felt more like a Wade story than a Knuckles story.
I thought both of the Sonic movies had a lot of funny scenes. Knuckles definitely did as well.
I'm gonna be honest. I thought it was pretty good.
Am I the only one who enjoyed Kid Cudi? He and the other uma Thurman chick had a great dynamic. He was having a blast.
I really liked the show. It was cute, interesting, funny, and tried some pretty weird things compared to the movie. I feel like the show is more about knuckle's impact on others and how he is kind, loyal and inspiring, rather than about himself and his adventures. Because we all know the main character of the show was Wade.
I still haven't watched episode six and while I can agree that episode five featured a lot of Wade instead of Knuckles it wasn't too bad. Episode four makes up the lack of Knuckles with the musical and Pachacamak. I think the other episodes have a good balance.
After that talk about product placement, I started wondering, what if Sega made a deal with Coca-Cola and sold it as "Chaos-Cola"?

They dropped the ball by exploring Wade’s background when they should have been elaborating on Knuckles background. Tie in the Chao, Tikal, Chaos and the mystic ruins from SA1. Maybe throw in the references to angel island.
Ps. I liked Sonic prime MUCH more than Sonic Boom.
