I’ve tried a lot of foundations over the past year and I have to say, this one is the best. It’s so blendable, the finish is smooth, and non tacky ( I hate sticky foundations). Love it.

ANGIE!! That really is beautiful on you!!! I AGREE that ALL beauty companies should show some mature models in advertising!!! WE are the ones who benefit and need the most from our makeup! I remember when I was in my 40's even, I would have to be at work at 6 a.m. and I am a COMPLETE NIGHTOWL! After walking the dogs and all before work, I would put my breakfast in Tupperware and my make up in my purse and sit at my desk and do BOTH while I worked! (wouldn't do it NOW at 64! ) But EVEN THEN the guys in the office would come by while I was putting it on and they would say, Why are you doing that? You have such nice skin and look so relaxed and pretty , like you are coming back from vacation! NO way would it happen NOW!! Now I need my concealer, a little color, some lipstick, but MOST of all skin like that foundation gives! SO pretty!! I was about to light some candles and celebrate, I NEVER thought ANY other foundation would come up to the (wait for it, the angels are singing!) HOLY GRAIL status!! LOL!! The only problem is I am sensitive to fragrance :( BUT ever the optimist I am going to see if either I can get a little sample or will put some on and wear it out of the store! The cost is in the "I'm going to have to save up for it" area, but I am doing that with the Chanel, so I will just save a little more! It really is beautiful! AND it is nice to have 2 options now! Great video! Love them all, even when the foundations are "icky" so I know to stay away from them! LOL! Thank you for all your testing and trying!
H&F community woke to hear wedding bells chiming for the YSL testing! Do we have another perfect union? Woo hoo! It does so look perfect on you! Thrilled you found another HG. I agree with Angie, it is the product UNDER this that makes all the difference. I wear Wayfarers and that nose piece is gargantuan, that and the rest of my normal nose were my trouble areas. Wore off fast. I would encourage you if you fail first time, grab something else you know works for YOU and try it under it. Must have been 5 days of trials before I saw some staying power. Smash box, Pore Professional, Laura Mercier's oil free and regular primers, AG sun screen...then I dug deep to grab a gift size Tarte Tinted BB primer in light and finally got it to stay. Bugs me that I have to throw more at something so costly. Did use LM to set. The finish after all the work is agreeably HG status. Still on fence about buying-it is a bit pricey for my comfort. But of course when I do I will do so through Angie's link. This was a highly requested test, and she put it a lot of time to help us find a HG product. Really LOVE ME SOME ANGIE! : )
I'm excited to hear YSL is making a matching primer! I've been playing around with this foundation for 2 weeks and I could not make it work. I was an oily mess. I was trying different primers, powders, setting sprays with no luck. Then I noticed I was using all silicone based primers with this so I switched to one of my water based primers and a water based moisturizer & setting spray (my sunscreen has one silicone listed but it's down the list) and it made a HUGE difference. It's like a completely different foundation now. I don't like the shade range though. I self tan and Warm Honey is too light when I do and that only leaves 4 shades darker to choose from. And it's pricey for not 1 ounce even, but it is YSL. I'm definitely going to keep playing around with it now.
I ran out of foundation and bought this YSL this morning. Based on my hurried first application I think I will really like it. I know the shade B40 sand is an absolute perfect match for my skin, more than any other foundation I have tried. Chanel PL skews a bit orange and ELDW is either too light or too dark. Today I applied it with a Beauty Blender over Marc Jacobs Under cover Perfector coconut primer and lightly set with No. 7 Perfect Light setting powder. I am 52 and my menopausal skin cannot decide if it is normal, oily, or dry. So far, so good. Thank you for your recommendation and review.
Would love to see it directly up against Chanel. From what I could see it might accentuate the texture more than Chanel seemed to. So happy there's a new great foundation ! Thanks Angie.
Holy Cow, Angie! I'm so impressed with this foundation's high points from you, I know it must be worth at least a glance and nod toward the high price tag. In the video, you look so flawless, and yet not too, too "made up." You look great in it. Also, as to the expense, when I added up the prices of foundations I've bought in the last six to eight months, madly searching for my own holy grail, I found I'd spent much more than $69.00, not to mention that to me, sometimes, my time is money. I've never been this eager to try another new foundation, so, thank you so very much!❤️

I adore the Chanel!!! Yet... it transfers... I had no idea until I left my face on so many people! It was my grandmothers funeral 😔 I was mortified 😨... l’m good at not touching my face, and had never hugged so many people with a full face of makeup. I should have worn my double wear. My grandmother was the type that if I showed up with minimal makeup she would find a lipstick 💄 to brighten the lips... reds fuchsia... She loved makeup!!! We had that in common! Omgoodness so....embarrassing! Especially when I realized the makeup smearer of makeup foundation to be exact was me!!!! 🤨🧐😳😐😶😫☹️ I could hear my Mimi, Miss... did you not do a practice of makeup for this day? 😢Heck no... Even though she lived a long long life with me... nothing could prepare me for loosing her. Goodness I miss her so much. She lived 98 years young! What a whiper snapper she was! Hehehe! She wrote children’s books, was able to go on TV with Punxsutawney Phil, her one book was a suggestion I gave her. I had never heard anyone talk about the groundhog, in books. So she wrote a children’s story about the groundhog. And made it to the TV celebration for her book release. She always had her face on and if sunning she still wore her lashes. Hahahaha! Sorry. I just had to share my last Chanel experience. I still love the foundation though! 🤔🤕 just scarred and smarter🧐...
Wore a sample all day in the heat with nothing on but LaMer powder-shocked!!!!! Not a single issue with the foundation. I did have sunscreen underneath. I am absolutely in love!!!!!!! My new Holy Grail-now if only Nordstron would get it in!!!!!!

You always look great Angie but I have to say I am glad I have dry skin because my foundations and Cc creams always last all day. The downfall is sometimes the foundations cause my skin to be even dryer than it is otherwise. Have a good day!

Hi Angie, I’ve been watching you for a while now and I love how you really pay attention to what’s in the ingredients in makeup and skin care, I’ve really learned a lot watching you. I’m 52 and I take really good care of my skin like you. I’ve been searching for that holy grail foundation. I’ve tried high ends and drug store ones, I did like the Chanel a lot, I then tried the YSL, it really did not wear well and seemed a bit drying, but let me say when I tried the Dior.....WOW holy grail, I got more compliments on my face wearing it!! I also read the ingredients in products and just wondered why you didn’t realize how bad the ingredients were in the YSL (really bad for your skin) I did a bit more research to find that it is very drying and itchy and wearing it on a daily bases causes burning and redness to people’s skin. Your usually spot on about products, but making YSL YOUR HOLY GRAIL?? I was just a bit confused? I know we all have different skin types buy dry or normal or oily this did not get great reviews. Thanks for listening, I do love watching you and I really learn a lot. I’m told my skin looks 10 -15 years younger,I follow your skin routine and I do see a difference From a year ago. I also have pretty good genes; lol!! I haven’t used any filler or Botox, but maybe down the line, so far so good! I say never say never? Thanks for listening 😀
I love this foundation so much!! As long as I let my serum/oil/moisturizer/sun screen combo absorb for about 10 minutes, and use a primer, I get a really beautiful coverage without being cakey (I use a Beauty blender and build to desired coverage) and super long wear time out of this as compared to my other faves. And as long as you have that barrier combo (serum/Oil/moisturizer/sun screen/primer) on your skin before applying any makeup, that alcohol content won’t ever penetrate your skin, that ingredient just helps to dry the foundation down in order to help it work well with applying other makeup over it. And it’s got a great color for me too, not too pink and not too yellow, really good neutral tones. Well worth the splurge. I reach it more than anything else now.

But, after keeping up with your foundation Fridays I have begun to find what works for me. I am so very glad to have discovered your channel here on UA-cam. Thank you so much for all the info you provide for us ladies of a "certain age." I am weary of getting make-up/ product advice from 20 - 30 somethings whose skin is nothing like mine. Because I am "under the lights" as a singer I have long been in search for makeup that will last thru a gig and not sweat off but yet compliment my 50 something skin. YES, please!!! My skin detests anything with silicone. Even moisturizers and foundations. Makes it extremely difficult to find products that work. Argh!

Have you ever tried the Algenist spf50? It's my HG sunscreen because it also locks my makeup into place on my oily skin, no primer necessary. I'm a product junkie and I've tried every sunscreen and primer out there that remotely promises to work well on my skin with makeup. I've been wearing it with this new YSL foundation and I think it's my favorite combo of the last 20 years or so. It's that good. I put it on at 8:30 this morning and I'm meeting my husband for dinner for about 7 and honestly I wouldn't need to wash my face if I didn't have time. I do have time so I will because applying it is half the fun but anyways...worth a try if you haven't yet.
This foundation looks stunning on you, Angie. I have recently been intrigued by the Lancôme Absolue BX Radiant foundation and so I will pick up samples of that and this one to see how they work for me. I am currently using the YSL Cushion Foundation and liking it but not loving it. I keep thinking there is going to be something better out there, LOL. I tried this 3 times as a sample. I am 51 with large pores and oily skin. It looks good upon application but all 3 times, I was super greasy after 4 hours, so therefore, it rubs off easily. I "felt" it on my skin and couldn't wait to wash it off. The Dior Forever is better for oily people. It felt like I had nothing on. My HG continues to be my original ELDW. Currently, I am experimenting with a longwear Chanel one and I like it! ( I know Angie reviewed it and she did not like it). Just my 2 cents on my experience.
Lisa, I just posted my comment along the same lines. If I had given up in 3 attempts, or if Angie had we would likely feel as you do. I encourage you to try again using something else that works for you. For me, I found a BB cream that did the trick. My first days were oily like you experienced and seemed to vanish into air. Eventually I got staying power with the BB and LM powder. Have you ever tried to powder under your foundation application? Encouraging thoughts and wishes for you success~B

I was going to spring for this one based on Angie's review, but seeing that it didn't perform well on your oily skin, I'll probably give this one a pass. I LOVE the ELDW, but they discontinued my shade. :( I wish they hadn't as now I have to kind of mix two to get a really good match. Thanks again!

For outdoors in the heat and workouts, you should try the Shiseido BB Sport w/sunscreen. That stuff is just awesome. Amazing product. Great under makeup too.

I love this foundation so much!! As long as I let my serum/oil/moisturizer/sun screen combo absorb for about 10 minutes, and use a primer, I get a really beautiful coverage without being cakey (I use a Beauty blender and build to desired coverage) and super long wear time out of this as compared to my other faves. And as long as you have that barrier combo (serum/Oil/moisturizer/sun screen/primer) on your skin before applying any makeup, that alcohol content won’t ever penetrate your skin, that ingredient just helps to dry the foundation down in order to help it work well with applying other makeup over it. And it’s got a great color for me too, not too pink and not too yellow, really good neutral tones. Well worth the splurge. I reach it more than anything else now.

But, after keeping up with your foundation Fridays I have begun to find what works for me. YES, please!!! My skin detests anything with silicone. Even moisturizers and foundations. Makes it extremely difficult to find products that work. Argh!

Have you ever tried the Algenist spf50? It's my HG sunscreen because it also locks my makeup into place on my oily skin, no primer necessary. I'm a product junkie and I've tried every sunscreen and primer out there that remotely promises to work well on my skin with makeup. I've been wearing it with this new YSL foundation and I think it's my favorite combo of the last 20 years or so. It's that good. I put it on at 8:30 this morning and I'm meeting my husband for dinner for about 7 and honestly I wouldn't need to wash my face if I didn't have time. I do have time so I will because applying it is half the fun but anyways...worth a try if you haven't yet.

I have recently been intrigued by the Lancôme Absolue BX Radiant foundation and so I will pick up samples of that and this one to see how they work for me. I am currently using the YSL Cushion Foundation and liking it but not loving it. I keep thinking there is going to be something better out there, LOL. I tried this 3 times as a sample. I am 51 with large pores and oily skin. It looks good upon application but all 3 times, I was super greasy after 4 hours, so therefore, it rubs off easily. I "felt" it on my skin and couldn't wait to wash it off. The Dior Forever is better for oily people. It felt like I had nothing on. My HG continues to be my original ELDW. Currently, I am experimenting with a longwear Chanel one and I like it! ( I know Angie reviewed it and she did not like it). Just my 2 cents on my experience.
Lisa, I just posted my comment along the same lines. If I had given up in 3 attempts, or if Angie had we would likely feel as you do. I encourage you to try again using something else that works for you. For me, I found a BB cream that did the trick. My first days were oily like you experienced and seemed to vanish into air. Eventually I got staying power with the BB and LM powder. Have you ever tried to powder under your foundation application? Encouraging thoughts and wishes for you success~B

I was going to spring for this one based on Angie's review, but seeing that it didn't perform well on your oily skin, I'll probably give this one a pass. I LOVE the ELDW, but they discontinued my shade. :( I wish they hadn't as now I have to kind of mix two to get a really good match. Thanks again!
