The funniest scene that Carrey has ever done, in my opinion, was in Pet Detective. Where he was going undercover to catch poachers in Africa. Carrey was hiding inside of mechanical hippo that malfunctions and the AC isn't working and he's stuck in there sweating to death and can't get out!! As a safari tour group passes by, they stop to observe this hippo in it's natural enviornment. That's when Carrey just happens to give birth to himself out the back of this hippo to the amazement and disgust of the tour group, especially when a greased up Carrey drops out onto ground!! When it's over, the tour bus quietly rolls away with everyone in complete shock of what they witnessed... Hands down the funniest scene I've ever seen in my 60+ years on this planet. 🙉🙉🙉🙉👽👽👽
The fact that Jim Carrey released The Mask, Ace Ventura AND Dumb and Dumber in the same year is insane. That's more success than most people's entire careers. Imagine being the director and just taking him off the leash!
the sonic movies have been such a wild success for 2 reasons: changing sonic's design to better fit the cartoonish original, and jim carrey's perfect casting as robotnik. it's such a joy seeing him do comedy again!
It goes without saying that Jim Carrey is one of the most legendary actors of all time, Hell I dare say that his performances even on the same level as others like Robin Williams.
They dont rival, not even close. Both were damn near the best of all time, they both had/have range emotional and funny, and even more. Both my favs and I know they are everyone's favs as well.
judge: "who did this to you?!" fletcher: "a madman! a desperate fool at the end of his pitiful rope!" judge: "can you describe him?" fletcher: "6-5, about 200 pounds, big teeth, kinda gangly."
I've been wondering when they would put Jim Carrey in a fat suit, Now he will physically be more fitting to the character of Robotnik. Because to be honest. Jim's performance as Robotnik was flawless, But having him play a skinny Robotnik just didn't feel right to me, Since Robotnik and Eggman have always been obese guys.
I only watched the 1st one for the clean-looking man in a suit with a small mustache.I can't believe anyone, especially the comedian legend, actually signed up for this franchise.
Literally he is cinematic gold. Dude has been a monumental essential part in comedy for his entire career. Couldn't imagine a world without him in it because his work touched so many people including the whole of pop culture. God status.
Excellent video.👍 I'm in my 60s and I've seen everything that Jim Carrey has ever done as it came out public over the decades. Some of it I didn't even like at 1st. But Carrey grows on you. Especially if you've followed his entire career. A truly brilliant man and I look forward to his future productions. 👍👍👍👍👍
0:29 The fact that Jim as Ace Ventura talking with his butt was improvised doesn’t surprise me. That scene adds to Ace’s eccentric personality. 6:47 Alrighty then. 2:202:23 “Sssmokin'!” 5:596:03 “Somebody stop me!” The Mask is my number one favorite Jim Carrey movie and I like Jim Carrey’s performance as the mild-mannered Stanley Ipkiss and his cartoonishly wacky, zoot suited, green-faced, trickster alter-ego; The Mask. What makes me like Jim’s performance is his cartoonish body movements and body language as the character, which saved the director and the visual effects team lots of money on CGI, and the fact that he learned how to talk with the big cartoon teeth making The Mask all the more wacky. But the fact that The Mask's two iconic catchphrases, " Sssmokin'!" and "Somebody stop me!", were unscripted makes the scenes all the more awesome. I knew 27:31 the scene where Jim as Stanley Ipkiss/The Mask pulls a wet condom out of his pocket and then said "Sorry, wrong pocket." was unscripted and improvised, but this is first time that I learned that Jim improvised those scenes, too. 8:20 The Elevator scene from Liar Liar. I never knew that part of the scene when Jim as Fletcher says “Mama” was improvised. But that I know that fact, it makes total sense it was unscripted.
I still can’t believe both Ace Ventura movies, Dumb & Dumber, The Mask, The Cable Guy and Liar Liar all came out in the span of 4 years. The 90s were wild man and I miss it. Ace is my favourite character of his. I still ROFL when he punches out the “Monopoly guy”.😂😂😂
There’s a mistake in Liar Liar, he actually does lie in the movie. In the scene where his assistant quits and walks out she tells him about her friend who sued a burglar and had to pay and asks if that was justice, Fletcher says he would got him more money, she gets mad and Fletcher says “I didn’t understand the question! Ask me again!” But he did understand the question cause he answered with a true answer.
He's a comedic genis, and a lot has to do with his experience on In living color, He said that they are the ones he owes his career too. Yes he's a nature talent but being around the Wayans Family help him a lot.
There are four movie moments where an actor nearly got past me via makeup and performance...Jim Carrey in "Kick-Ass 2", Glen Close in "Hook", Colin Farrell in "The Batman", and Tom Cruise in "Tropic Thunder". That would make for a good WatchMojo topic.
There is nothing odd about Jim Carrey taking the role as Robotnik. Any Sonic fan from the 90s knew it was reason enough to see the film. He is a 90s icon every bit as much as the blue blur himself, and it was a true return to form. It felt like I was in middle school again without any of the bad parts!
A Series of Unfortunate Events was a Bad movie, but Carrey was a Great Count Olaf. Though while I never thought someone could beat Carrey at his own game. Neil Patrick Harris just completely dunked on Carrey's portrayal of the character in the Netflix series.
the big gulp guys were almost certainly extras, because you can't just film random people without their permission. but the whole point of carrey improvising the exchange is that most extras are unpaid UNLESS they have a speaking part. if they had responded to his comments, the studio would have been forced to pay them, but they were too professional.
Directors know to never call cut when filming the likes of Bill Murry or Jim Carrey. You keep the camera rolling and you might wind up with a piece of treasure.
One of the greatest actors ever but I don’t like some of the roles that people love like Cable Guy, Truman show, Number 23 and I don’t really like his egg man in the first Sonic but he was better in the second one
I wish there was a movie with both Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, something like Dumb and Dumber where the both of them goes on a trip and are allowed to improv as they wish. That would have been something. But alas, we are in a timeline that this will never happen just because some dumb kid fell into a gorilla enclosure.
"I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough." - Jim Carrey, April 2022. When asked whether or not he'll be back: "It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break."
I've been a fan since Ace Ventura. I did hear though that Carey is a insufferable prick in real life. You hear stuff like that when a child co-star proudly showed him his new bike, he took the kid to see his luxury car, showed him the features and then screamed in the kid's face: "Your wonderful bike doesn't look quite as impressive anymore now, does it?!" ...and other weird stuff like that.

Very true.

Jim Carrey is an absolute legend, this just shows. I'm so happy he's back as Robotnik in Sonic 3.

In my honest opinion, I truthfully think Jim Carey's portrayal as Count Olaf was better than Neil Patrick Harris from the Netflix series.
I mean, it’s hard to top an overactor portraying an overactor.
Same 👌🏻
Amen!
I agree, but I do think that the series went more by the books
Sure, more iconic, but NPH is still great, and more in line with the original vision
“Dinner with me, I CANT CANCEL THAT AGAIN!”
19:15 Dr. Robotnik going from clean looking man in a suit with a small mustache in Sonic 1 to the fat bald guy with a massive mustache in Sonic 3.

18:09 It turns out that Jim Carrey can do the Grinch Smile outside the costume and it was unsettling.
OMG I can't believe how many of those memorable lines were improvised! :O
The best WatchMojo video ever made!
Jim Carrey improvising makes the scenes even funnier 😂
Can’t wait see what Carrey will improvise for Sonic 3, especially since he’s playing 2 characters
“5 minutes alone that’s all I need.” Really? Knowing Jim Carrey and his musical tastes, I’m putting that down as a PANTERA reference.
Number 30: Assholimio." "Pardon me, do you have a mint?"
“That one’s for free!” So real!
Throw It In trope in a nutshell for Jim Carrey.
Ace Ventura : Gee let me think sure
I just finish watch Liar Liar this mornig after 20 years. Still crack me up
ALLLLLLrighty then. A one liner that will be remember forever. No doubt.
Thank you for doing this video. I’ve loved watching Jim Carrey.
These were Improvised !?
Amazing
My favorite, hands down. Jim is a hilarious genius
Literally he is cinematic gold. Dude has been a monumental essential part in comedy for his entire career. Couldn't imagine a world without him in it because his work touched so many people including the whole of pop culture. God status.
Best character comedian ever: Better than Peter Sellers, Robin Williams, and Mike Myers.
Hey now let's not disrespect the name robin williams
Than mike Myers sure, totally agree...
The "Alrighty Then" line was from Jim Carrey's stand up show, "The Unnatural Act" from the 80s
Excellent video.👍

Directors give free range to adlibe what he wants in his movies
Everytime someone talks about dumb and dumber, i remember the blind boy and the headless bird scene

Funniest one to me: "The cable guy," Jim Carrey covers his face in meats, and imitates Hannibal Lecter and says, "Hello Clarice." 😂🎉
Yeah, they said and showed that in the video.
Jim is one of the greatest physical
actor/comedians of all time!
Don't forget Robin Williams
Jim Carrey is hilarious!

“Do not pass go. Do not collected $200”
I think the most annoying noise was the best unscripted scene that was left in the movies.
I wish Jim Carrey would do more animated voice roles.
"Alrighty then" became a part of my lingo in my Teen years, along with "Whatever" from Clueless hahaha.
I'm seriously looking forward to Carrey's performance as Eggman in Sonic 3.
Kinda surprised none of his Sonic 2 lines made it on this list
I love him in the Mask! No one else could have played the role except him!
Didnt know about a lot of these but "kisses" is GOLD!

Glad alot of these movies allowed him to do almost whatever he likes to try and improve some scenes and it shows.
I love him 💖
3rd time a charm! I remember the last 2 when each sonic movie came out. Always GREAT!!!
We're gonna miss you Jim Carrey.
The one from the grinch is honestly very impressive! THERE IS NO WAY HE COULD DO THAT SO EFFORTLESSLY
Dumb and dumber, the Grinch, and Liar Liar, will always be comedic masterpieces!!
While I enjoyed Batman Forever, I think a Joker Jim Carry would have been great.
Improvision is the key to true success in movies, ain’t that right, Jim boy?!?!?!?!
As far as I'm concerned, Jim Carrey can do no wrong.
Jim Carrey - the only person born to play Mask! SSSMOKINN...
