Wow, what an interesting list. I understand what you mean about these fragrances and that common accord that is abundant in today's top hits. Way overly used.
Really enjoyed your video. Havebeen watching loads of perfume videos and have bought quite a few blind buys. Majority have been disasters. I could weep. My fragrance of choice has been Hermes Eau Des Merveilles for the last 8 years. I thought I would try and vary my scent but nothing can match it. I think I will just give up.😕
You never see film reviewers rave about every release, yet so many youtube fragrance reviewers seem to like everything - so a video like this is a breath of fresh air - keep it up! 👍🏻
Thank you for making this video! Perfumery is an art and you being critical is giving that respect it deserves, especially when the medium is crowded by cash-grab designer fragrances. Its just so damn refreshing to hear an enthusiast talk about perfume thats not strictly complimentary to a point where it becomes insipid; it tarnishes the dignity of perfumery, but simultaneously perpetuates this safe space for an elitist Chanel no5 circle-jerk. Its a damn shame that you-and really anyone from the perfume community I've noticed-have to constantly disclaim anything that isn't a shining review. A disclaimer made to grown adults who can not take a second to breath and understand that taste is not objective (yes, that includes taste for perfumes made to appeal to as many consumers possible). I noticed this kind of disclaimer too in your cumin and caraway video which I really enjoyed watching. Obviously I enjoyed the video because on a whole I enjoy your content, but the topic of cumin and caraway notes in perfumery is something you are specifically interested in and is a discussion not often had online. So, now you know...there are people who want to talk about perfume critically and more creatively.
Love honest , transparent, no nonsense fragrance videos …. they help & direct consumers much better … and one feels we can trust your opinion even more
Videos like this are great. It is a money saver - you might save me from a bad blind buy. I would like a niche version of this video. I learn just as much from these videos as the more positive iterations. I wouldn’t waste your time discussing the subjectivity issue. That should be clearly understood.
I was shocked by Creed's Silver Mt Water, luckily just a blind decant buy (still expensive enough). Smelt nothing like I expected it to, very similar, albeit more complex, to cheap daily spray on my mum likes! Fine for her, not for me.
Great video - very refreshing. Thank you. I think Gucci should bring back some of their massively popular discontinued fragrances such as Gucci II. I stumbled across your channel as I was searching for a vanilla fragrance and found the H&M one. Before I purchased it I searched it on UA-cam and found your videos. I managed to get it for £4 as it was in the sale and I had a coupon too! Looking forward to it arriving as I love a boozy vanilla! Keep the content coming ☺
I always appreciate your honesty! You're one of the few honest reviews out there, and I love it! Thanks for always helping me find new fragrances, and what to stay away from!
I love hearing about WHY people don't like fragrances because sometimes I don't have my own words for it until I hear someone else or read about someone else explaining it! Thank you for videos like this!
Thanks for the honesty!. I havenot tried any of these, but you are not alone as I have heard other reviewers share their displeasure concerning the CH, the Valentino, the the Mugler and the D&G.
Great video, like a breath of fresh air..80-85% of the reviewers doing these reviews on fragrances claim that everything smells great ...really...Thanks for doing this video and telling the audience the truth and saving us time and money.
I don't understand why people become so angry if you don't like a scent each to their own I don't find it offensive it's personal taste, skin chemistry etc etc I have the female born in roma by Valentino & I love it but I guess the notes are different when you buy niche fragrances & you smell the quality of the ingredients it's difficult to like some mainstream scents I prefer niche but own across the board niche, designer indie etc Nice review Sebastian keep them coming I'm so tired of everything being wonderful when it's not esp by some female reviewers
I really enjoy the occasional video when we can experience this saltiness from you, lol I quite enjoy it. Not to mention it’s informative. Subjectivity is everywhere yet people insist on taking things personally. Sour dish rag, lol I’m ashamed to admit I know what this smells like. Great video!
Being able to say what you like and what you don't is what sets an honest reviewer apart from the rest. Many people get offended and butt hurt when you say something negative about the fragrance or house they are devoted to (Dua guys). Keep up the good work and say hi to Dalya for me.
Great video! Most people will never admit to blind buys that didn't work out. The blind that made me stop almost six years ago was GIT. It was recommended by a friend who has a collection of Creed and we have similar taste in fragrances.
On a positive note I actually had a couple of excellent blind buys this year but this was fun to watch. What do you do with your bad blind buys? Keep them? Give them away to people you don’t like? Pour them down the sink?.......
I've had my nose on many D&G the one flankers and the only one I thought was purchase worthy imo was the one gentlemen. Not talked about a lot, but I really enjoy it. 😉
I enjoy to hear about fragrances that people don't like...it gives me a better view of what they like....I haven't found a reviewer yet that is close to the kinds of fragrances I like....I dislike gourmonds, my husband is sensitive to musk and other notes!
Hahaha! You have the right to like or dislike whatever you want. I appreciate your honest opinion. I haven’t smelt any of these versions so now at least I know not to blind buy them. People may have different taste or they may smell different on their skin at least we know now to beware. Thanks for sharing.
I think that is important to test a few times before bying. One perfume that i loved is Aoud Damascus from Montale but unfortunately it smells very bad on me. I gives the perfume to my mother and she loves it and it smells very good on her.It is skin that gives the smell of a perfume.
Good subject Sebastian. In these times I guess everyone is risking the blind buy a little more. I'm buying more samples first having learnt my lesson the hard way.
We all should be able to voice our opinions about fragrances without have to defend our selves. I agree with you. Great video my friend. Keep the content coming.
Very interesting video! Valentino Uomo born in Roma doesn’t smell bad to me, but I don’t enjoy it either. It’s just too sweet, that smells like candies, but not in a wearable way.
Appreciate your perspective. Recently purchased Nishane Unutamam as a blind buy. I'd like your take on this one. It's completely different from any scent I've ever purchased.
I always find it surprising how people get all hot and bothered just because someone expresses their opinion.... as you rightly said, opinions are individual and we are all entitled to them😁. Thank you for a great informative video as usual, and please keep em coming.
I know what you mean about that weird sourness. I don't like it either. I smell it in Invictus too. Which is strange because it starts out sweet. Good video
I’m guilty!! I bought MK sexy Amber and HATE IT !! It smells synthetic and sour .I have ordered 5 more fragrances and 2 are blind buys (haven’t arrived yet ) I’m going to experiment mixing it with something else and if that fails I will give it away ! This pandemic has made us do some pretty stupid things !! and as far as fragrances go we are all different and have different tastes so it’s ok to hate something someone else loves .My hubby had a sample of the D&G the one intense ,and neither of us were blown away enough to buy it .I have THE ONE in the female version and have had it in my collection for years and love it !! I respect your opinion and loved this video ,keep the blind buy videos coming Hugs Frances 😊😊😊
I got a 1ml decant free with some other purchases and I quite like it. Never picked up on the pickle at all. It has me worried though because I don't want to be wandering around smelling like pickles!
I work in Veterinary Medicine and it actually gives me an exotic animal bedding smell (think hedgehogs, guinea pigs) when I smelled it the first tine I was like oh great I smell like a hamster 🐹
I don't really blind buy anymore & I didn't much in the past. Now that I have plenty of experience with fragrances & a decent size collection I only add to it If I really like something which I can only know after sampling on skin.
Thanks for voicing your opinion. I love to hear different opinions on fragrances. Would love to see more blind buy videos. I am also Not a fan of the Gucci Guilty line. Blind buys seemed to have worked out for me during the pandemic.. The best being Nishane Hundred Silent Ways and Miu Miu L’eau Rosee.
Of course you’re entitled to your opinion, man lol and I would agree with you on these choices. It’s great to have a heads up on what to potentially avoid. Only one that sort of intrigues me is Gucci Guilty edp but I could really care less about the others. I do wish they brought back Envy and also saddened by where the Valentino line is headed.
LV California Dream is really bad. I actually gave it away today to my assistant as a gift 😂 My worst blind buy?! Eau de Cartier Concentrée and Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil. Both end up in the garbage couple days after I purchased online. Just HORRIBLE fragrances. When you spray.. so fresh, so good... once it dries down... OMG I couldn’t wash my arms fast enough. #GreatVideo
Sandalwood is one of my favourite notes. I bough a 10ml decant blind based on one of your Top 20's on best Sandalwood fragrances and absolutely hated it. It was Dior Santal Noir. It ranked top 3 in your Sandalwood top 20 if I recall correctly. It contains some synthetic ingredient it that gives me a sharp pain right between the eyes every time I wear it.
Hate to say it but my recent BB is Mae Culpa V Canto...I kinda liked it at first spray, then my gf was instantly repulsed by it and said I spell just like an older woman. After she put that in my head I listed it for sale asap. FTR the performance is a genuine BEAST, and I rarely say that.
My worst blind buys in the last 6 months were Dior Prive Oud Isphahan, Maison Lancôme Rose Berberranza, Le Labo Santal 33, Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, Chanel Gabrielle and Chanel Mademoiselle intense
I’m not surprised about the Gucci guilty fragrance. I never purchased any Gucci fragrances that originated during the “Frida Gianini” era. IMO, Tom Ford made the best Gucci scents. And YES!!! They need to bring back Gucci Rush!!!
Dear Sebastian, Thanks for making a video about blind buys and regrets. I think it is an occupational hazard in this game. Please can you make a video about your niche blind buys that you regret and how to avoid if possible in the future. Thanks a million
I think I have only one--Lauder For Men. I don't like its smell but the wife and a coworker I asked actually like it! It was such that I even contacted their customer service about it. I just complained about it but didn't ask for a replacement or refund. They responded that they always maintain the quality of their fragrances and it was unfortunate that I didn't like their product at all.
I read even Carolina hates Beast. I smelled a sample at NM. Shopped for about an hour, when I returned to the main floor, the perfume workshop associate caught my attention and asked me how I liked the Herrara,🤢! She asked me had I sampled the Dior Sauvage Elixir.Told her no but my favourite Scent~Meister on UA-cam touted it. She handed me the sample bottle, I lightly sprayed on my wrists and walked out the upper level of NM got to my ride, got in, & before I got out of Neimans parking area,I made a sharp u-turn re-entered NM and quickly scooped up the Sauvage Elixir. Sexy, sophisticated, beautiful notes. The only downfall is its only available in 2oz atomizer??
I actually blind bought fahrenheit edp by dior after hearing the description in one of your pair lineup reviews because it sounded great to have a boozey vanilla, i don't know if it's the hot summer but it's so sweet and thick that it smells cloying to me right now. I'll definitely hang onto it until winter and see how it fairs but right now it's pure regret
It is sweet and thick yes. I'd try it in the winter or just sell it if you do not like sweet scents. Nothing like the original well there are traces of the original in there! :)
I agree to the subjectivity aspect to most eu de parfumeries. I rather enjoy the D&G The One Intense. I love the woodsy almost Oud-like scents. My only caveat is that it has poor longevity.
Great review! Stop apologizing.... I do not like some fragrances that people adore - even from my favorite houses... "Jicky" Guerlain always smelled somewhat synthetic for me, I got rid of it. "Nahema" is not the best rose either IMHO, so what ... kill me.
If you don’t like them say you don’t like them, doesn’t matter if someone gets triggered by that. I agree with you on every single fragrance on here, and yes Born in Roma is a money grab compared to previous releases. Say it how it is we appreciate this from you (I know I do). Also I find the overuse of the Amberwood aroma chemical in so many designer releases lazy.
I am totally ok with different opinions. That’s why there are so many fragrances which is nice because we all have different tastes and body chemistry.
I bought two kind of cheapy fragrances..both fall fragrances,,.one by mistake...and since you know your really not going out anyway...I did something I have never done and layered these two together and oh wow...Now they are not a waste..LOL!
Sorry you had these experiences. You know what? I sold my Chocolate Greedy in less than 24 hours! Ugh how I hate that one. So just saying you can sell them on Ebay! And I DO respect your opinion and negative reactions..
😳sounds like a train wreck.....we appreciate your honesty Sebastian so keep it real! Yeah there are meh blind buys and then there are effing atrocious.
I’ve been doing a lot of blind buys. I would say 10% of my blind buys are bad. I bought like 31 different fragrances total since the pandemic started. How can I do better? Should I ask for free/paid for samples? Love your videos. 💕
Stop with the disclaimers! We all know that we have different preferences. It’s so basic; you’re the master of the obvious. It’s like virtue signaling! No one cares if you hate something. And, you’ll get negative messages from time to time with or without the disclaimers. That said, I think you’re spot on about two of those fragrances. I haven’t tried the others. Luckily I have no bad blind buys. Although, Encre Noir Extrême took me some time to really appreciate. I bought it because of you of your videos. Thanks!
I LOVED this video! So much fun, Sebastian, and very useful! I've had some bad blind buys as well. I'm so glad I watched your review on the new Louis Vuitton because I was really curious about that one.
The only blind buy from my small collection that I don't like is I am trash by Etat libre d'orange. It's not bad at all and it actually smells great, it's just makes me nauseating when I smell it, just like some peoples reaction to oceanic aquatic scents.
Unfortunately Mancera Red Tobacco doesn't sit well on me. I really looked forward to trying it out (as I love tobacco scents), but the fruity, almost raspberry-ish blast just doesn't fit. I may be in a minority on this one, but that one was a waste of money for me. :'(
I bought bentley absolute and i can describe it like this. Imagine, you are a lumberjack eating vanilla cake in a field of white flowers downwind from a porta potty.
I don't have many but those i regretted are not the ones i got following viewing this channel :D from the top of my head: BR 540, Gourmand Coquin... umm. can't remember anything else.
Don't hold back, let us know how you feel! I like that you do recognize the scents that you do like. I have never liked Ciara or Joop. Total scrubbers for me, can't stand them
Versace Dylan Blue & Armani Prive Rouge Malachite. I didn’t check the notes & I went based on rave reviews. I don’t like them. Lesson learned, I check notes now or at least sample first 😉
95% of my collection is blind buys. I live too far away to go sample most and to impatient to order samples, I guess. I have found that I really don’t care alot for anything with the note of rose, which I think you are a fan. Rose’ All Dae’ is the most tolerable for me. My opinion! That’s just how it works.

Thanks for doing this. We need more people showing us frags that they don't like. I don't see what the problem of that
It's all so very SUBJECTIVE....
@@mercedesbenzs600bash So is liking fragrance so why not also say what they don't like.
I love this. I am tired of only hearing that everything is great. LOVE the honesty. Keep it coming!

You are so right
Dam right dude! Fragmental raves about every fragrance!

If a bottle ever screamed “Do Not Buy!” like CH Beasts, I don’t know what does...
LOL! It screamed buy buy buy to me! LOL!
🤣😂😮

Underwhelming right?
It's a big meh for me too. Same with Bleu du Chanel with its generic and chemical dry down.
Baccarat rouge was a bad one for me - too sweet and linear. Sold it on quickly enough - most of my blind buys are hits as I do my reasearch first
Great video - very refreshing. Thank you. I think Gucci should bring back some of their massively popular discontinued fragrances such as Gucci II. I don't understand why people become so angry if you don't like a scent each to their own I don't find it offensive it's personal taste, skin chemistry etc etc I have the female born in roma by Valentino & I love it but I guess the notes are different when you buy niche fragrances & you smell the quality of the ingredients it's difficult to like some mainstream scents I prefer niche but own across the board niche, designer indie etc
Nice review Sebastian keep them coming I'm so tired of everything being wonderful when it's not esp by some female reviewers
I really enjoy the occasional video when we can experience this saltiness from you, lol I quite enjoy it. Not to mention it’s informative. Subjectivity is everywhere yet people insist on taking things personally. Sour dish rag, lol I’m ashamed to admit I know what this smells like. Great video!
finally someone says that The-One is over hyped...enjoyed this video!
I wasn’t in to the intense version of The One myself...something off putting about it. I’ll stick to edp...lol
It was new The One EDP Intense, not old EDP fragrance , soo
💯
He didn’t say that whatsoever
Being able to say what you like and what you don't is what sets an honest reviewer apart from the rest. Many people get offended and butt hurt when you say something negative about the fragrance or house they are devoted to (Dua guys). Keep up the good work and say hi to Dalya for me.
Great video! Most people will never admit to blind buys that didn't work out. The blind that made me stop almost six years ago was GIT. It was recommended by a friend who has a collection of Creed and we have similar taste in fragrances.
Fully agree with you about that aquatic/woody/amber note that is so common these days. It is like smelling beakers in a lab.

How can you even say that, just because he doesn't like it doesn't mean that you won't like it,RIGHT?????
I think that is important to test a few times before bying. One perfume that i loved is Aoud Damascus from Montale but unfortunately it smells very bad on me. I gives the perfume to my mother and she loves it and it smells very good on her.It is skin that gives the smell of a perfume.

Give us more bad blind! It happens to all of us (too many times).
Very interesting video! Valentino Uomo born in Roma doesn’t smell bad to me, but I don’t enjoy it either. It’s just too sweet, that smells like candies, but not in a wearable way.
Appreciate your HONEST reviews and opinions, When right is right, then it is right. When wrong is wrong, then it is wrong.
Appreciate your perspective. Recently purchased Nishane Unutamam as a blind buy. I'd like your take on this one. It's completely different from any scent I've ever purchased.

😊😊😊
Sebas, I agree with your take on your blind buy experience. That they did not work for you. Very simple and straightforward.
Thanks for the honesty it's a lost art
Thankfully I didn't blind buy any. The One EDP is a good dumb reach. I layer it with Guerlain Vetiver and it's pretty damn good.
My worst blind buy has to be Le Labo Santal 33. I got it based on the hype but I just couldn’t get passed that pickle smell 😭
I thought I was the only one 🤢
That's definitely one of my favorites....
I like Santal 33 but I don't love it. It was a blind buy.
Smart man,I have more DECANTS than I have FULL bottles....
Thanks for voicing your opinion. I love to hear different opinions on fragrances. Would love to see more blind buy videos. I am also
Not a fan of the Gucci Guilty line. Blind buys seemed to have worked out for me during the pandemic.. The best being Nishane Hundred Silent Ways and Miu Miu L’eau Rosee.
I bought white musk for men blind, based on your recommendation and without much expectations but now im obsessed!! Thanks for the great review
Totally agree Sebastian. All the fragances that you mentioned are useless. Keep the great work!!!
Thanks for the video, Sebastian. I am wondering if you have ever done a video on fragrances you did a complete 360 on, from dislike to love?
LV California Dream is really bad. I actually gave it away today to my assistant as a gift 😂
My worst blind buy?!
Oh no you don't like that medicinal smell in there of the ambrette in the Santal Noir from Dior. :(
And that's just why we SAMPLE FIRST because all of our noses are so very different sometimes....
Have you ever tried Geo F Trumper's Sandalwood?
Whatever happened to the idea that, “you do you and I’ll do me, while respecting each other’s ability to like and love whatever.” Keep doing you.
Hi Seb, i blind bought Clive Christian 1872, smells horrid on my skin ! i won’t blind buy again, regards from England !
I learned to always sample before committing to a full bottle because oftentimes I find the performance is the biggest issue
I do the exact same thing, saves you so much money that way....
I’m not surprised about the Gucci guilty fragrance.
I never purchased any Gucci fragrances that originated during the “Frida Gianini” era.
IMO, Tom Ford made the best Gucci scents.
And YES!!! They need to bring back Gucci Rush!!!
Love your honesty. I have blind bought scents that are raved about and most people love....but they did not smell good.....on me...for me.
To me, Gucci Guilty Eau de Parfum is a clean, elegant and quite unique rose fragrance. I love wearing it.
Dear Sebastian, Thanks for making a video about blind buys and regrets. I think it is an occupational hazard in this game. Please can you make a video about your niche blind buys that you regret and how to avoid if possible in the future. Thanks a million

Great video and I enjoyed it and i like born in roma because it smells pleasant and I'm going to try the other fragrances and have a blessed day
"Envy and Rush" and Pour Homme I & II. Keep Intense Oud and you can trash the rest as far as I'm concerned.
Whaaaat? (high pitch)
Blasphemy
I read even Carolina hates Beast. I smelled a sample at NM. Shopped for about an hour, when I returned to the main floor, the perfume workshop associate caught my attention and asked me how I liked the Herrara,🤢!

It is sweet and thick yes. I'd try it in the winter or just sell it if you do not like sweet scents. Nothing like the original well there are traces of the original in there! :)
I haven't smelled any of that, but you're totally entitled to your opinion of course.
Thanks for sharing your views.
Great video. I wanna hear more about crappy fragrances. Being honest is better then telling everyone everything is good.
My favorite reviewer...Thanks Sebastian for another great vid!
"Nahema" is not the best rose either IMHO, so what ... kill me.
Valentino does have a kick but it plays nice with my body type. I’m a outside/sporty type maybe why.🧐 good video 🙌
Bravo! Very good video ! I have had enough of youtubers saying how good is this or that and in fact it s.cks ! Thanks for being honest .
I like this topic! Great!
And yes, I’m excited about 20 worst blind buys
Huge fan of your channel. Keep doing what you're doing!👍
😳sounds like a train wreck.....we appreciate your honesty Sebastian so keep it real! Yeah there are meh blind buys and then there are effing atrocious.
I knew mugler mirage was going to be on the list 😊 I also agree Valentino born in Roma isn’t good at all
I’ve been doing a lot of blind buys. I would say 10% of my blind buys are bad. I bought like 31 different fragrances total since the pandemic started.
How can I do better?
Should I ask for free/paid for samples?
Love your videos. 💕
Very well said! Some people are too sensitive over something that’s not worth getting upset about! It’s just a freakin fragrance!
Thanks!
Worst blind buy for me was JPG Le Beau Male. I don't understand how something like that gets released.
Always good to see honesty in reviews.
I LOVED this video! So much fun, Sebastian, and very useful! I've had some bad blind buys as well. I'm so glad I watched your review on the new Louis Vuitton because I was really curious about that one.
They sent me Born in Roma in a Sephora order. It was SO BAD I washed out the container and used the sprayer for other samples lol.
The only blind buy from my small collection that I don't like is I am trash by Etat libre d'orange. It's not bad at all and it actually smells great, it's just makes me nauseating when I smell it, just like some peoples reaction to oceanic aquatic scents.
Glad that you’re of independent thought Sebastian, unlike the FragCartel!
Great video, I like your honesty and willingness to share your opinion on fragrances
Wowwwwww that's pretty bad,LMMFAO....
😁😁😁😁
That actually sounds great
I don't have many but those i regretted are not the ones i got following viewing this channel :D from the top of my head: BR 540, Gourmand Coquin... umm. can't remember anything else.
Swiss Arabian Noon was my worst blind buys. Got rid of immediately.
Don't hold back, let us know how you feel! I like that you do recognize the scents that you do like. I have never liked Ciara or Joop. Total scrubbers for me, can't stand them
Great video!! Thank you.... These all sound like ones to avoid...
I'm already offended
Just joking
Versace Dylan Blue & Armani Prive Rouge Malachite. I didn’t check the notes & I went based on rave reviews. I don’t like them. Lesson learned, I check notes now or at least sample first 😉
95% of my collection is blind buys. I live too far away to go sample most and to impatient to order samples, I guess. I have found that I really don’t care alot for anything with the note of rose, which I think you are a fan. Rose’ All Dae’ is the most tolerable for me. My opinion! That’s just how it works.
i think frags work on some people and not on others, love your vids Seb, regards from England
I absolutely love this video
I bought Bentley intense and I hated it, bad blind buy for me, just 2 sprays or so... if u want it Seb I’ll send it to u
