  • Alright, this week I am trying something new - stamp carving! I saw a video on stamp carving and it looked super easy, but it was also done by someone who had been stamp carving for a very long time. So, in the interest of science, I wanted to see if stamp carving really is that easy, from a beginners perspective! So I got the Speedball 7-piece kit and went from there. In the video I am trying to make a stamp with just the supplies in the kit (hint, you need a few more things than that..) and just the instructions in the kit (hint, they suck).
Thanks for coming along for this stamping journey!

very cute design!! ive done a bit of stamping and a tip for anyone using that kind of ink: glass is good, but you want a big palette sorta thing so you can roll the ink lots!! you have to keep rolling and warm it up until its making like... almsot a velcro soundd? it doesn't have those big streaks, just tiny little bumps i guess... idk if that makes sense lol

That is great advice, thank you! I will definitely try that next time. I wish that the kit had come with more tips like that! 😅

Thanks for the video I have already taken a stamp carving class from an instructor which was helpful. I bought the kit myself too.

I've thought the exact same thing when examining rubber in craft stores!! You've inspired me. I just ordered some rubber to carve 😄

My first stamp was carved into a Pink Pearl eraser. The linoleum-type brayered ink is not my thing. I used Archival stamp ink instead. I aspire to word stamps. Good times...

I used to make stamps in erasers too! Honestly, it was easier than this kit.. hah!

Thank you for saving me money. It was a very useful, clear and concise video to make me decide this craft isn't for me. 🙄

Yeah, I needed to put measured markings on a plastic cap of a 16 oz Starbucks tumbler for an induction heater I'm making. So I looked for a video on how to make stamps and came to this one. It seems like too much work and unnecessary for what I'm doing.

How do you get the nibs to stay in the carving tool? Mine keep falling out when I use them :/

Oh dear! I’ll try to explain how I put the nib on, and it has been stable in my experience. There’s three parts, the exchangeable nib, the larger circular outside part, and the smaller inner part (which is actually two parts that fit together). With everything apart, I put both inner part inside the outer part, and then very lightly screw it onto the handle. Then you want to insert the nib through the outer part, so that it’s resting in between the two sections of the inner part. Once it’s securely in, tighten the outer piece. If that doesn’t make sense feel free to message me on Instagram and I’ll send you a video!
