    Hi! I actually just found your channel from doing my 3rd try at #DIY #stampcarving project! I am actually carving a copy of one of my daughters Christmas cards to me. She wrote “HO HO HO!” & “love” & so I pencil copied with regular paper onto a small cheap circular $4 carving block from overseas. I was so worried about how horrible it is turning out as I was carving while listening to your video... Now after hearing your honesty about u being a beginner & also what you said basically: ppl think try it once & you’ll be good at it & are discouraged because they’re NOT Artists at it right away... & I had to SUBSCRIBE! THANK You for saying that I been teaching my daughters both art since they were very young & my youngest is incredible at it. Born natural. But since discovering the internet she gone off on COMPARING & now wont create due to that! Anyways thank you for your inspiration and honesty!

      Big welcome and thank you for subscribing! I am glad that my saying these things have helped. I hope that both of your daughters don't get put off from what they see, there is just so much talent that it is hard not to be put off when we compare our work to others, I know the feeling well! But what we often don't see is their starting points or how much work they have put into it. So I really hope your daughter comes around again and keeps at her art and keeps enjoying it!

    I HAVE been doing stamp carving, and getting on well with it! The learning curve portion of any project is actually something I really enjoy, because the challenge thrills me. Like you, every time I try to use another tool, I always seem to go back to what I started with-just a craft knife. I love that ever since I started doing videos on stamp carving, the mighty UA-cam algorithm has been recommending all these older stamp videos to me. Subbing to see what else you’ve done-and I really love that glue stick tip!

    Loved! Love the slightly rough look, which is perfect for mixed media projects. A craft shop near me runs classes and they did this one, but I couldn’t make it. I may have to check if they’re going to run it again. Looks a lot of fun! Xx

    Hey Kim, I am rubbish at carving. I bought some of those small little circle ones, but they are quite limiting. This was helpful and I think I'll get some of the other you've suggested to try again. Thanks x

    Love this! Just what I’ve been thinking of trying. How do I slow down the speed of the video, please?

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  5 років тому

      Hi Tina, if you are watching on desktop via your browser you can find the video settings if you hover your mouse over the bottom of the video. There is a little symbol like a cog, click it and you get various setting including playback speed. If you are watching on mobile via the UA-cam App then if you tap on the video as if to pause it, a number of icons line up at the top of the video, click the three dots on the right to get the playback options. If you are watching in any other format I am not sure how to find the settings but they are usually found on the video when you pause it or tap it.
