- Опубліковано 9 лют 2018
- Producer and engineer Eddie Kramer discusses Jimi Hendrix’s studio recording of “Mannish Boy,” the first single from the album Both Sides of the Sky, the new Jimi Hendrix album coming March 9, 2018. This previously unreleased recording was the first ever studio session by the group Hendrix would christen as his Band Of Gypsys. It was recorded at the Record Plant in New York, April 22, 1969. Hendrix, Cox & Miles shared a love for the blues as this driving, uptempo reworking of “Mannish Boy” by Muddy Waters immediately makes clear.

something in Jimi's sound makes me think of wild nature. maybe cuz it's free and rhythmic
I wish we could see a long form interview with Kramer. It would be cool to hear some stories.
There are a lot of stories Kramer has out there and the work he has done with Led Zeppelin’s early albums
If you haven't already ,you tube still has the Dick Cabbott show interview with Jimi. Cabbott says Jimi gave him a run for his money and it's obvious when you watch it. RIP JIMI YOUR MUSIC WILL GO ON FOTEVER
Thank you. It's so good hearing Jimi talked about so beautifully, with such admiration and respect. Eddie is a great guy it seems. I LOVE this song.
Great musician + great engineer = Great record !
I recently listened to this song and it is very good. Probably listened to it 20 or so times so far.
Hendrix #1 Forever!
Jimi is still alive - in our thoughts ...
And hearts.

Jimi lives in Coco Beach Florida
Everyone knows that.
Who knows?
There's one ,only one as amazing as Jimi Hendrix. I've listened very close to him for some 42 years. Fell in love the first second I heard him, Castles made of Sand, and my entire way of thinking changed. For instance ,he set bar so high nobody has no ed like Jimi. What an amazing ,intelligent person too. Think about songs like Belly button window or 51 st anniversary. There isn't anything like the in those days. Jimi is proof time and space one .
The definitive role models of pure creative drive, always deep love.
Nice to see the mixer to. I love Jimi and the people around.
Thank you for doing this

That Uni-Vibe sounds so dope.
It's really cool to be able to see these analysis' about the new album by this guy. :D
You just have to love how Jimi switches to a different key on the intro....just great guitar playing! And remember all you South African Hendrix fans....Eddie Kramer was a born and bred Cape Town boy!

Those of us who were too
young to have seen him,
videos made it possible.
impressive, how much they talk about Hendix and how little you can get the Hendrix´s music.
I wish we had more stuff like axis bold as love
👍🎸👍✌️
🎶🎶🎶💫💫💃💃💃✌️
Does anyone know what headphones jimi uses in the studio?
When is the next song coming out?
MORE CONCERT FOOTAGE!! MORE CONCERT FOOTAGE!! Please, stop with recycling stuff from years past!! I have this already!! Janie, Eddie please more footage!!
The "family" wants to sell $$$$$$$$$ ... Family in quotes ... because as far as I know the true brother of Hendrix Leon Hendrix does not earn a penny but the "step sister" called Janie who controls everything .... of course I'm talking in terms $$$ ... with the help of this great sound engineer who is Eddie Kramer who has always been with Hendrix doing the best in terms of recording, he knows every detail that was made more than 30 years ago. But what he has done is "reheat coffee" still has unreleased shows such as Hawaii's perfect to hear ... available until now only in the "alternative" .... another good Randall Island NY only has an interference on the table sound when the sound of a voice that appears to be in the wave of the radio enters. We will still have to wait more and more .... wait, because I think there will still be more of Fillmore ... not just that one officially released ..... there were 4 shows, 2 before midnight and 2 after. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Early Koss studio
headphones.
Share the music.
Mother Love's Hendrix
LOL, LOL!!!!
Jimi Hendrix was the only true guy born with an electric guitar in his hands.
🎸👍🇺🇸🙏🏽
Street story from early 70s that there are 2 films never been released from his estate . Alice cooper mentioned it also .
I wanna music.
Thatdudeeeeeeeeeeee I do ; )
But HERE, I wanna Hendrix' music \o/
Dá-lhe Grêmio e jimi
Maybe try english first
I have a question for someone more experienced with this era of recording and producing plus more informed on Jimis studio habits: *Was Hendrix's voice layed down in studio at the same time as his guitar was?* Did he go back and sing without his guitar at times to polish the singing out? Yes, he did sing and play at the same time, i know. But did he go back and sing without his guitar to then have layed over the track in some songs? Because i swear i can hear it being done in sone songs, and some songs i dont....
For example ive heard songs from electric lady land on my multiple copies from recent pressing to original pressings and it sounds to me that Hendrix was doing it in one take, maybe 3 or 4 tracks, but he was doing the singing and guitar at the same time, the vand was playing as if it was a live show... But then some songs sound clearly (to me with my limited knowledge as a wanna be guitarist) that he played guitar, layed down the guitar, then went back and sang the lyrics by himself. No guitar in hand. Just singing.
Can someone knowledgeable fill me in on how some of his songs was produced in studio? Ive googled and looked up on UA-cam but im not really getting the answer im looking for OR i get conflicting answers.
💋💋Love it.
can i get those tabs for the uni vibe and the amp... and also maybe if its not too much trouble.. jimis talent? i kno i might be asking alot but i think the amp and uni vibe is reasonable.
'This sounds like an alternate take to the same recording session of
"Mannish Boy" on the release "Blues" - Reprise - released some years ago.
That collection is very good. Has Hendrix doing other blues standards like "Born Under A Bad Sign". This is more marketing that anything else. But I understand that people may want more of his music. On the other hand there is whether he would have wanted this released as a finished product. This can be said of several of his posthumous releases.
Agree on almost everything except "Blues" was originally released on MCA... later picked up and slightly massaged by Experience Hendrix before being re-released with new liner notes.
John Janecek
Quite right dude...
CM Kilcullen I agree man I think if something by any artist is unlikely finished then that is the way it is meant to be ✌️💗💡😄
Paul Beddoes
Yep..
CM Kilcullen - This is from the same session as what’s on Blues. The version on Blues however was a composite edit from various takes from the sessions since there was not really a master tale achieved at this session. I’m assuming that it’s the same deal with this version as well given the practice in make the last two posthumous albums...
eu tiamo jimi hendrox onome do meu filho vaicer oceu
Hace dos años que escucho su musica, ahora cualquier tipo de música de la actualidad me parece simple, poco elaborada
two fuckin genius
When is he coming to Argentina?
Ego never... he die
Гоша Бурик he died
But always is alive in our hearts
JH is alive forever
hang on a second ...George Benson sings along with his guitar licks as well
Can't say any of the recordings released posthumous (except Angel) has done much to improve his legacy.
Jimmy talento fora do normal
Wow that was actually the Band of Gypsies
Para mí que jimi hendrix está vivo =0
Sub español si puedes por fa
Who.The.F*ck gives this a thumbs down? Have humans gone bleepin’ deaf in 2018? Du duu d’du du du du..
I got to see Bo Donaldson
& The Haywoods.
Ummm yeah ... this was already released on the Blues album in the 90’s
I think this era when Buddy Miles was Jimi's drummer is my favorite from the whole Hendrix's career, too short unfortunately...
🌚
:D
Eddie fucking Loves to talk Jimi.lol
no way, right?
This man deserve to be God
God is back again...
This song has already been released many years ago. So very typically Experience Hendrix. Fantastic track but another crass rehash.
Entendeu?
Eles vivem disso. vamos comprar!

Janie Hendrix doesn't
care about you or Jimi's
fans.
She's interested in herself and no one else.
Watch the real Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Not just the band, but
the story.
How the group went shopping for a record deal.
Record labels like Decca
turned the band down.

Buddy Miles is a bit much for me but he's right for this song. Cement mixer---maybe more like a malfunctioning washing machine.
Primer comentario!!!
Jimi don't need any interpretive ad.. just let the music play please good sir k thx bye
34th comment 🎸
Why can’t they just upload the actual song? I know the witch Janie doesn’t like actually making fans happy but come on…
All these songs sound the same way.
Andre 3000 from OutKast should play Jimi in documentary movie
R B he did, it was bad in my opinion
I hated it.
Andre Benjamin portrayed Jimi Hendrix.
