  • Rose M. Ciufo, age 94 years, of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2024, at All American Assisted Living in Hillsborough Township, NJ.
Born on December 6, 1929, in Plainfield, NJ, daughter of the late Francesco and Virginia Santonastasso Pasquarello, Rose was number six of eleven children. (Peter, Helen, Angie, Nicky, Sonny, Mary, Frankie, Jeanie, Anthony, and Francis.) There were so many wonderful memories and family parties and picnics.
Rose met Daniel Campbell at Howell Electric after he asked a friend if she was interested in going out she should wear a red ribbon in her hair. Well, she did, and they were married on October 20, 1951, at St. Mary’s Church in Plainfield New Jersey. Rose and Danny were amazing parents to William, Kathleen, and Maureen. They could always be found in the kitchen or living room dancing. They were fun together and showed their children the importance of enjoying life. They were married for 23 years until the death of her beloved Danny in June of 1974.
Rose was remarried in 1983 to a wonderful man, Leonard Ciufo Sr. She was so lucky to add to her family his wonderful children, Pat, Mary, Joe, and Leonard, along with their extended family, and was so grateful to have a large, loving family.
Rose was an amazing Mother, Nonni and Great Nonni. She was a hard worker, funny, sassy, and beautiful. She was very smart, loving, generous and kind. She always was impeccably dressed. She was a fantastic cook. She was a cancer survivor. She showed her children how to be a warrior. She was on the Kingston Conley women’s baseball league, skied, played Mah Jong, Candy Bingo, and balloon volleyball, and enjoyed painting and drawing. Even in her later years, she won several gold medals during the “Olympic Games” held at All American. She could sew anything and made gorgeous clothes and curtains. And she loved to craft. She was part of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks in Clinton NJ for many years. She had many friends who she adored especially the Rosemary Lane Families.
A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse, NJ, Rose was comforted by Mary, Mother of God Church during her later years in Hillsborough.
In addition to her Mother, Father, and Danny, Rose was preceded in death by Leonard, her siblings, Peter, Helen, Angie, Nicky, Sonny, Mary, Frankie, Anthony, Francis and her grandson Christopher.
Surviving are her children and their spouses William Campbell, Kathleen and Kevin Campbell and Maureen and Joseph Ciufo; her step-children and their spouses, Pat and Sue Ciufo, Mary and Al Lind, and Leonard and Donna Ciufo; her grandchildren, Kelly Campbell-Julian and her husband, Darren, Emily Campbell, Daniel Campbell, Susan Ciufo-Bennett and her husband, Tim Bennett, Dominic Ciufo, Patrick Ciufo and his wife, Shiela, Leo Ciufo, and Maddalena Ciufo; her twelve great grandchildren, Gerrard, Ryan, Sofia, Emma, Ava, Joseph, Julia, Lucas, Sebastian, Gabriella, Abigail, and Phoebe; and her sister, Jean Wood.
