    You did GREAT. BEAUTIFUL JOB ! Good design, perfect for regular pallets. However if a fork lift attachment was made for general work, the forks would probably have to be adjustable and slide together. I bet you could design and fabricate one like that also. In a lot of cases, you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Others have often designed items and sell them as options. Copying the basic idea of what they made and adding your own tweeks is a lot easier than designing the whole thing yourself, from the ground up.

    Pretty slick. I think I would have added a staple on each upright so that a ratchet strap could quickly and easily be used to hold the load on the forks. Some backyards are less than flat. Nice job though.

      I agree...
      I told the customer I was gonna do that and he told me not to bother with it because he was gonna run a strap all the way around the uprights and the load

    You can get adaptors for your normal drill press that will take an annular cutter, I love mine, makes life so easy for things that you can get in the drill press that you cant get a mag drill to stick to!

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  Рік тому +1

      I have that adapter also but I don't like it...I don't like to clamp things in the drill press but with those cutters in a drill press they need to be clamped to keep the cutter in place.
      I'd rather mag drill if I'm gonna use the cutter if possible.

    Great work young man. A couple of gussets going back from the uprights would have added more rigidity to the design l think. But, a fabricators job is also to make a product within the customers budget too. Well done!

    How did you paint that at the end? Is it just spray painted or do you have a paint booth or similar in your shop?
    P.S. love the shop cat! I bet his job is to keep the shop clear of mice and other intruders! I have a cranky old farm cat in my shop who brings me dead vermin and keeps the place clean. He's on a pension plan with bonuses, I pay him in chicken when he performs well!

    • @NBSWELDING

      I don't have a paint booth...I use spray, brush, and rollers when I paint...just depends on the size and shape of what I'm painting

    I was wondering about the possibility of forks on a ventrac. Got any idea on the weight limit the ventrac can lift with your fork attachment?

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  10 місяців тому

      Dunno...I probably knew that at the time but I've since forgot

  • @jgren4048

    I would paint it the same colors as the Ventrac make it look, well factory. I know you are trying to keep the pallet from hitting the machine, but isn’t there some room back toward the machine in order to ensure heavier items would be picked up? Never saw one of those machines before looks like quite the toy.

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  Рік тому

      I don't completely understand the question...there is some room between the uprights and the machine yes....it's plenty of room for a person to reach into while strapping a generator to the uprights and removing the strap.
      There will not be heavier items...only the generators that are about 350-500lb

    • @jgren4048
      @jgren4048 Рік тому

      @@NBSWELDING I hadn’t thought so much about the strapping removal. I have seen some generators lift the back of a small kubota tractor, it was only a 15KVA but a diesel so a little heavier than maybe what your friend will be installing. So I was thinking 6-800lb units. Also was thinking that the closer to the tractor, the lest force on those arms and the V groove as it wouldn’t be quite so leveraged out
