If St Anger just had a better drum sound the album would have been exponentially better, imo. I still think it’s extremely under appreciated and has a lot of good moments. Perfect cover, drums are sounding great 👌

St Anger has the sound that they wanted that have. Thats the point. Btw, it has one of the best creatives works of Lars, because you cannot maintain a Metallica song withouts solos and mega riffs without a good drumming for 7/8 minutes along.

The problem with st anger (album) is that lars forgot to turn his snare wires on because he forgot to and no guitar solo. Overall this album is actually not that bad IMO. Call it therapy.

Disagree. Drums on St Anger have no fills to match the no guitar solos aproach and has that weird sound, heavly inspired by Slipknot's percussion, but is one of the most solid piece of drumming Metallica has ever produced
