From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures and starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, “A Minecraft Movie,” directed by Jared Hess, is the first-ever big screen, live-action adaptation of Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time.
The film also stars Emma Myers (“Wednesday”), Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), Sebastian Eugene Hansen (“Just Mercy, “Lisey’s Story”), with Jennifer Coolidge.
Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits-Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)-find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). @@marino_32 The end feels empty in Minecraft because there are really only 2 things to do in it (Beat the game/ender dragon, and explore end cities) also because the distance between the islands is pretty big. But for the film it would only serve as a final battle ground and probably only be on the main end island.
This more or less reminds me of the Angry Birds with the pigs being the main bad guys but who know maybe they themselves will summon the dragon 🐉

For real, i though that after Mario was fully animated they will now get it but no, MORE live action videogames films coming.
I never wanted a minecraft movie to ever be made and this is a good 90% of the reason why.
Of all the games in the world with incredible writing and worlds that deserve big budget live action films, minecraft was never one of them.
Everyone saying to apologize to story mode but I think the lesson here is the reality that minecraft doesn’t need a story and it’s better off without one. The story is your experience and that’s what makes it such a special unique game. Trying to quantify that into film or whatever squanders all that minecraft is at it’s core.

they should've made it look like the minecraft update trailers, with actual minecraft characters and footage that ACTUALLY looks like minecraft. In my opinion, story mode actually looked good, and captured the essence of early minecraft very well, but this? this is incomparable. The closest thing this looks similar to are those minecraft but in real life videos from 2015-2016, and the realistic minecraft texture pack. I don't expect much from this movie.

I’m getting tired of all these live action adaptations. Just do a full on animation. It fits WAY better than shoehorning a star-cast into a game that is completely made out of blocks.. except for them.
Should have animated it in the style of something like Story Mode, with human characters getting converted to that style.
I started hating live action adaptations with a burning passion back when Code Lyoko Evolution was released... this somehow made me hate them even more
