A cold and dark start to my beach metal detecting hunt this week as I take my brand new Nokta Double Score Metal Detector for its first trip. How did this new simultaneous multi-frequency machine do?

It varies. Check out the foreshore map on the Crown Estate website.
If the beach is coloured purple you can detect there.
If not it'll be down to the local authority. Check their website or contact them directly to check the rules where you are 👍

Back in the mid-80's through to the early 2000's I'd be coming off the fields, as you are starting your hunt. I led a crepusular/nocturnal hunting life back then😉 Wild country boys eh? We sure scored though. Man, that screen light is so bright. I could be seen from Titan😎😉. You make me smile Adam.

Newbie question: Do you keep the coil cover on when you detect? Does keeping the cover on interfere with detecting?
Hi!
Yes, ALWAYS detect with a coil cover. It protects the coil and keeps your machine serviceable for longer. It has zero effect on the performance of the machine 😊👍

If she's doing beaches go for the Double Score.
The Ultra does very well on the beach but an SMF will always have the edge 😊

Agree with your last message on facebook - defo looks like getting the DSc is a better option that the Sc saves upgrading again after 6 months.. and honestly it doesn't have that many settings on it to worry about so should be a shallow learning curve over the Vanquish 440 i have now.

Does it seem to you the flashlight is bit too low on the coil? Just like the legend.
Seemed fine when using it. The camera might not be doing it justice but to the naked eye I could see the whole coil.
Seems like a good cross of the simplex and legend, ive been killin it with the DS on 4 hunts, 34 u.s.dollars in change, and 2 pieces of silver, plus bits and bobs

Isn't the Double Score is a dumbed down Legend as far as settings? Are there any benefits for the double score over the Legend other than ease of setup for beginners?. Good video BTW.

I'm not a big fan of the phrase "dumbed down" but I get where you're coming from.
The Legend is the flagship machine and yes, has more settings and adjustments.
The Score really sits between the single frequency Simplex range and the Legend. It has the feel and simplicity of the Simplex (BT is the closest I feel) but with SMF technology added.
If the Legend is too advanced for someone, the Score is a great place to break into the SMF world.
It's lighter, cheaper. with less options than the legend. it fits the spot where say a vanquish does to a 800. if anything it's a "smarted up" version of the Simplex Ultra based detector turned smf that's better than all of the competitors machines in this area and much easier to use. Did I mention waterproof. It's a no brainer to have this in an outdoor hobby. most don't
