The uniqueness of the Aston Martin DBS package is the one I would go with! Great color combo and a V12. 💚👊
Came to say the same thing, The "Q" just makes it that little bit more special, and it sounds great. I don't mind the pops and burbles, lol
its shit
The DBS cannot fit 4 people. 2 people and 2 hobbits
@Glenn Pearson Hobbits are people, too, lol. The kids will fit and just make friends with short people. I wonder if 5'10" would fit because he could take me.
It’s going to depreciate another 100k
I love the Aston Martin DBS, color is out of this world, styling and not had many out there compared to the continental
The interior is a let down given the price.
I just got one trust me it’s a surreal experience
It is a fabulous colour and a great spec however this car has lost £80,000 in 1 year. Think I'd cry if I was the original owner.......
I've driven more than 10k km in the Turbo S, and it really isn't the soulless machine that Sam and some people think it is. On long trips, it's not as comfy as the others but it is definitely a very comfy ride for an amazingly sharp-handling sports car (the others don't come close in terms of handling experience). It trades a bit of comfort and charisma for pure fun, whereas the others are a bit less fun but more comfortable and charismatic. It really comes down to what the owner wants. Oh, and amongst these, it's definitely the best value for money.
Just seems like an absolute no brainer. When you consider price, the turbo s has no competition
The Ferrari is “a bit less fun” than the TTS? Really? As an ex-owner of a Turbo S and possible future Roma owner that’s surprising!
@@mrc2662 I'm fairly certain if you only drive your cars on the weekend for short periods of time, the Ferrari will deliver more fun.
TTS is something all occasion car along with continental gt. Some people would restrain themselves from tracking a continental gt but you could track TTS. Rain summer track bad road good road that’s an all rounder. (With least expensive)
Since this is going to be your family car and you’re trading in the F type for it. I’d be interested in Viki’s point of view. After her input and drive the world, and that was fabulous with the both of you. This would be a perfect time to bring her back to the channel for the family consultation on the new car. For instance, she may have to ride back there with your daughter at times. How comfortable will she be in the rear seat of the Aston or Ferrari?
She will also care about safety, which rules the Aston out! Out of the four, I really doubt the need to ask her. Only one of the four tested is potentially suitable. However, there are other options, especially used, like the Ferrari GTC4Lusso. Then again, as you say, what if the wife needs to ride in the back with the baby? Maybe the back seats need to be a bench, rather than two individual back seats? Therefore Sam would need to look for cars that offer a five-seater configuration.
Maybe Sam needs to come to terms with buying a four-door super GT, like a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, which offers a 4+1 configuration? There are good reasons why most families choose the kinds of cars they do. Maybe a four-seat two-door coupe doesn't really work until the kids are of a certain age?
Any of these cars as a family car with a baby is laughable.
Just bought a Maserati QP perfect family supercar, fits the missus both kids luggage and pushchair!
Ghibli Trofeo or QP with the Ferrari V8 would be a great familiar car, my daughter loves our Ghibli.
@@NathP90 exactly, if you have that much money to spend on a family car you wouldn't take any of these.
The Bentley is the one for me. It's just perfect, both space and design. The interior is also beautiful and timeless!
The old GT's were kinda "meh" for me but, the new ones. Forget about, they're just fantastic.
Really, for me it’s by far the worst looking, there’s just no angle in which it looks good! I’d be straight in Aston.
@@TIWNA851 I can agree on the fact that the Aston has better exterior design, but the continental is way more elegant and smart looking on the inside. It’s also the better all rounder
Given my age, 72, and the age of the people riding with me I’d go with the Bentley over the DBS. Even Sam had trouble getting in and out of the back seat of the DBS.
Be aston dbs for me all the way it's far better looking than the rest and more practical.
The spec on that DBS is INCREDIBLE!!! The color is gorgeous, the interior is beautiful, and with the carbon roof/pillars, whoever specced that car absolutely has class and taste!!
I’m sorry but the Aston interior is a mess and bad taste. The interior also looks very dated already
I've always wondered why people said the Porsche 911 is the most practical sports car. When the rear seat area and boot is so small, and now i'm hearing modern Porsches are not reliable anymore. 911 - smallest boot, smallest seats, boring, unreliable - i still want one 😍
Instead of the Roma why not look at the GTC4 V12 Lusso.
Also the mclaren gt
Cus its ugly af
@@canihave1dab724 it’s not a four seat GT car so that would be excluded. Remember he’s looking at something he can take the wife and kid with and have a decent boot to take a pram and other essentials.
@@petermcelvogue7521 oh yeah, the gt has that odd luggage shelf instead of a backseat. Totally forgot, good point.
GTC4 Lusso would probably be the perfect car for him.
What about a GTC4 Lusso instead of the Roma as you can comfortably fit 2 adults in the back as demonstrated by Shmee on some of his videos.
That would be the perfect car but of course the V12, awd variant.
@@amarjit_singh_ The V12 would definitely be the one I'd have
Great video and really difficult question. Head says Turbo S. Heart always says rummage a bit deeper down the back of the sofa and go for an 812 SF. And if you have more than one other friend/family member, then there’s some really excellent taxi apps these days.
Totally agree😂
Continental GT best car in the world IMO
FACTS
This video was made a tad too soon. Since there is no longer a naturally aspirated option (and Aston's turbo V12 doesn't sound very good, much like Bentley's W12), the new Maserati GranTurismo is clearly the answer. Best in class rear-seat legroom and headroom. Rear passenger cup holders and air vents. AWD and plenty of performance with drop-dead gorgeous looks. It's the obvious answer!
Not to forget, now with the Roma Spider being introduced. All of these cars (if not near enough identical variants) also have convertible versions of the cars. So you get to pick the car you want, and whether you want it as a convertible as well.
I think you should consider checking out the new Maserati Granturismo as well - It’s AWD so perfect for all year round, rear seats have a good amount of room, still has plenty of performance (550 hp in the Trofeo version), and it looks exotic.
Only downside is it’s a V6 vs a V8 or V12. However, it’s the same Nettuno V6 engine that you find in an MC20 so I’m sure it won’t disappoint!👌
Good suggestion, except for two things: 1) Sam hates the sound of the Nettuno V6; 2) Sam buys on finance where residuals dramatically affect deposits and monthly payments.
Maybe Sam needs to come to terms with buying a 4-door super GT, like a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, which offers a 4+1 config? There are good reasons why most families choose the cars they do. Maybe a 4-seat 2-door coupe doesn't really work until the kids are of a certain age? Alternatively, it would be cheaper to simply take two cars! Keep the F-Type and take the BMW SUV as well, or reconsider the SUV? If you want the family in the car with you on long journeys, maybe tow the sports car of your choice or have it transported? Then again, just use walkie-talkies like you do on road trips with your mates.
Well as already mentioned, we'd like to hear Vicki's input. Whilst it's your F Type your replacing, someone will be in the back seat at somepoint. I think you narrowed it down to 2 cars tbh between the Bentley & the Aston. Just depends on which 1 all 3 of you will enjoy, without going nuts in the twisties. Let's be honest isn't that what the GT3 is for?
For family touring to the South of France, I think you will have to come down one level from supercars into a Porsche Panamera Sport Tourismo which has room for the baby buggy. It will also have to be the V6 S mode,l as you found the V8 in the RS6 too thirsty at the pumps.
What about a GTC4 Lusso or FF with some novitec bits?
GTC4 Lusso FTW !!! Even the V8 rwd one.
Why would anyone go for the TT V8 when there's a NA V12 available, moreover an AWD makes more sense as a practical car!
I’d personally go straight for the Roma. Such a good looking car in my opinion. You either love it or hate it.
Tbh I think the Roma is one of the most understated Ferraris in modern times. I saw one locally not long ago and was surprised at how small it is tho. I was in my brothers Fiesta ST and it wasn’t much bigger than that.
i feel like the best 4 seater supercar is the GTC4 Lusso with that wonderful V12
Definitely
Aston or Bentley for me, the Aston is by far in a way the best looking to my eye, that colour is stunning as well!
However the Bentley is head & shoulders above everything there interior wise & comfort in general.
Personally if I was using it everyday for long journeys, the brain says Bentley, but I’d still look longingly at a DBS every time…
Undeniable, the Aston DBS is the looker! The Colour, the stance it is there to impress, much more than the Roma or Bentley. But the Bentley is the more usable daily choice.
I think the Aston would be a great choice for you Sam with both practicality, personality, looks/drama
What about safety?! Remember the reason he's looking for such a car, even if Sam also seems to have forgotten. And what if the wife also needs to ride in the back with the baby on a long journey?
Aston’s lose soo much money. I absolutely love the second gen Vanquish (2015). It’s one of the most beautiful cars ever made, has a V12 engine, and only goes for $135k!
Astons are 2nd or 3rd cars you buy after a good chunk of their depreciation has hit. Some cars are cars you just dont buy new unless you are fine with throwing away half or most of a cars value in only a few years. Astons are a car you buy once they hit 80k(or in the DBS's case, sit at around 100k).
I am actually in this position now (looking at convertible versions) and with the exception of the DBS (I looked at the Artura), I’ve narrowed it down to the Roma in top spot. Porsche is superb, but it looks like all the other Porsches, the Aston is too outdated inside, the Artura over the Porsche definitely (much better driving position and drama), but luggage capacity of school kids lunch box. Agree with everything said about the Bentley and as I’m still in to ‘attacking corners’ it’s a definite no, no. It’s too much of a barge and the steering wheel is too thick, you can’t get your hand down to adjust the seat easily and the armrest gets in the way of fast steering. The Roma ticks all the boxes, performance, agility, exclusiveness, tech, brilliant service packs and warranties.
For me (I’m 6’3) the one disadvantage is the rather high left foot rest. I can’t stretch my leg out. One final test before I make my decision and that’s the Aston DB12. Hopefully get to see one before the end of summer.
Considering your long distance drives in all kinds of weather, I'd say the Bentley is a better bet. The Aston is a great car (though I'm not keen on the spec you drove) but the RWD will be less _sure footed_ in some conditions.
Which would I pick? The one with the better sound system! LOL (Since the DBS featured didn't have B&O, I'd take the Conti as it's got Naim)
Bentley is the only usable one for adults.
No .Its not .
So teenagers are supposed to drive the other ones?
@@lachlankeevers270ur so stupid lol
The FF and Lusso are the best 4-Seat Supercar for me.
Have a 2013 Vanquish and adore it. Motorways are fast and relaxed while the back roads are as dynamic as they need to be. No, it's not an Exige but then it's not trying to be. But what I love are the kids that smile at her when I drive by .... reminds me of when I was that old dreaming of a supercar. So go for the DBS as its also fabulous listening to Bonds greatest hits on those back roads!!!!
For me it would’ve been an easy choice, GTC4 Lusso. Preferably with V12 although the T has better fuel consumption
I was thinking this over any of these!
@@markh6384 me too! For me it’s the ultimate daily driver, maybe it’s because a friend of my mom drives an FF daily but it’s just such a sexy all rounder
I don't even look at those 3 cars as 4-seaters, for me that is additional storage space and when you consider that, they are practical for 2 persons, you can put plenty of stuff on the back seats. DBS looks amazing, probably the best of those 4 but that old dashboard is bit annoying. In the end I'd probably take Roma cause Ferrari is Ferrari, to have that logo on your car is simply next level.
For me the Turbo S is sport / super car. For a ballistic and comfortable daily, I'd go Flying Spur W12. However, for a ride that fits my budget, the bus.
Love the spec on the DBS. Beautiful
Love the spec on that DBS, that interior is incredible and the exterior is classically beautiful, definitely would be my pick.
Advice from a dad: Bring your wife and daughter with you on test drive. There’s no point in buying a family car if it doesn’t suit the family.
Also test the childseat and buggy in the boot.
I think this 4 car test is more for us than Sam actually buying one of them.
Roma! I'm a long-time subscriber and I love that car in particular, for it's beauty and quirks. Man would that be a thrill if you wind up picking that. It'll take me back to subscribing to JWW for that F12 with the crema interior--just to spend time in that car.
Another great watch, I'm a Porsche man, but for a GT it needs to be practical with space, so it would have to be the DBS for me, especially being so unique !
For me it would be between the Aston and Ferrari
Bentley for me please, Not sure the rear seats in the rest are on the same level as the Bentley. Why not a Panamera as that would surely tick many boxes.
Why not the Ferrari GTC4-Lusso 4 passenger Ferrari or the Porsche Panamera?
It will for sure be the dbs. Honestly, it looks great. The fact that is is a q spec from Aston Martin at a stealing price is not bad. Top it off with the most power and a w12. I can't say anyone would be wrong choosing the dbs over the Bentley
In the Netherlands the DBS starts at ±350K. So jealous of British car prices
Always epic content - keep up the excellent work Sam
I'd get the DBS, see some of them go for low- mid 100s these days. But when going Aston I'd be even more tempted by the Vanquish S.
Trouble is the AM has lost 100k already and the Bentley no where near so much judging by the price of it on the website?? So how much more will the AM loose compared to the Bentley?
I take the Roma easy over the others!! Gorgeous amazing machine!!!
Ferrari FF gets you 4 seats a V12, and much less expensive. Do it !
In those specs it's got to be the Aston I think. They look stunning on the road too.
The DBS is the one I would park and look back and not stop looking back at. Desirability is off the charts compared to the others for me.
Was literally just thinking, “isn’t Sam supposed to be putting out a Super GT video soon?” I’d like to think I manifested this one. Great content as always!
Isn't the gtc4lusso a bit of an omission?
I think a full practical test os the only way to go, in other words how often all the back seats be used and bring along those that would be using them, practically speaking the Bentley has it, but if you gotnit would you be wishing you had gone for the Aston? Only thing to do go for a drive with seats full.
Have you tried looking for a 2019 Aston Martin Rapide AMR? It has four doors and natural aspirated 6L V12.
An interesting choice nonetheless!
How is that even a question? The 992 Turbo S rules them all, all day every day!
Why not a GTC4?
The Dbs is certainly the most beautiful .
Hi Sam, if you look for comfort definitely go with the Bentley, if not Ferrari Roma with eyes close🙌🏼
Great video Sam. Just had my GTC-4 Lusso stolen from Q-Park in Kinnerton Street, London SW1X 8AE, Q-Park will not even agree to provide the CCTV, and the Police are near impossible to have a conversation with. All very said.
Get a Ferrari V12 (or V8) GTC4Lusso. It is a proper 2+2 and just looks sublime.
The DBS is clearly the winner. It is so much cooler. The spec on this one is also amazing. The others you see all the time or have slight downsides, but the DBS has everything they do, but is so much more special
Here’s my order of preference for these GTs:
1. Bentley
2. Bentley
3. Bentley
4. Bentley
I would also check the Maserati Granturismo…
Try an s65 coupe
Either the DBS or ROMA
Have a good holiday in Cornwall
I think this would come down to 'wish I'd got that instead' syndrome and for me the only one that cures that ailment is the Ferrari. Plus I think it looks better than the others. More bad boy than AM.
I think the point is a Conty GT V8 tuned, te base of the engine is RS6/urus/cayenneGT material.
If you are serious about a 2+2 then buy the Bentley. Why not buy an FF!? I’ve just bought Chris Harris old car for newly half £200k cars in this video and it came with a 2 year Ferrari warranty. I would buy an FF or Trade the F-type for an F-pace SVR and use £100k for another car!!!
Lusso or FF😉
Maybe you could look at since modern classic 2+2s in dunes videos. The later Aston Martin Vanquish always looked good to me!
Love the video! Happy Easter! I can't stop thinking, whether depreciation should be factored in, because then in the head to head race the DBS might take the (clear?) win over the Bentley...
It would be sooo cool if you were looking in a way less bougie segment than this... That way your garage would be bringing in some diversity. A cool hot hatch or a fast wagon or just something a little more quirky than another supercar...
You already have a lightweight track focused car........ The Bentley is the perfect pairing
S63 coupe decent back seats front massage seats?!?! And the boots not half bad
The Continental GT would be my pick over the Aston. You feel you're getting your money's worth in the GT.
Off too these two places tomorrow with the Newcastle upon tyne F type group, looking forward to having a look at all those beautiful cars.
My favorite is the Bentley 🥰 I know it's not as sporty as the others but, it seems like the car that will never annoy you (unlike the others with their lack of refinement/space 🤔)
Also, I wanna add, the Roma is not a "2+2" it is a "2+" because Ferrari said they just added those seats for more practicality, for example you can just drop your backpack on the back seat and have the front cabin free of things :) So they never really intended people to be seated in them 🤔
assuming the plus two component is for a child seat not a full size human;
1. Roma
2. Turbo S
3. Aston
4. the lorry 😉
Get a Rapide S. Gorgeous car
Great production as always definitely deserves more subscribers
Great video from the most underrated car channel.
To be honest who doesn’t like an Aston Martin i do, but myself I’d pick the Bentley like he said it’s like a complete package maybe down on bhp but what a car
Only one car for this job and it’s a GTC4 Lusso. Decent warranty and is it services included for 7 years. Slow depreciation too over coming years.
The Roma and Porsche are more smaller sports super cars when the Bentley is just a huge sports cruiser, for the best GT there I’d go the Aston for sure.
@seenthroughglass the content lately is getting better and better!! Well done
How do you define these cars as suitable for 4 people? Maybe 2 adults in front and kids in rear. Maybe the Bentley can seat two in the rear but not comfortably.
The dbs is an amazing car but for the money and not that much less power wouldn’t you test drive a DB11? Also the motorist is only 10 minutes away it is an amazing car cafe to go to as they host so many different cars and coffee events!
What a spec on the DBS 🔥🔥🙌🏻🙌🏻👌🏻👌🏻!!!!
1) Conti GT (buy it new since price same), 2) THAT DBS & finally 3) Porsche Panamera
is the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso out of consideration because of the price?
The Continental GT almost has a split personality. Put it in Bentley or Comfort mode and you’ll be gliding along in supreme comfort, but switch to Sport and you’ll get an ear full of exhaust with more than enough power for a daily car 👌
All four of those cars are amazing, and the others are better performance wise ofc... but none of them have the balance/ “split personality” of the Bentley.
When i was little my dad got a 911 as our family car, it was great until it got stuck in snow and my brother at 3yo had to help push it to get it unstuck
A key part that Sam is unable to take in to account with all of those rear seats, a good number of folks have hair 😂😉 nothing but love!
I thought you would go, Aston Rapide AMR
Please please please DBS. That spec and car is 1 of 1. It is completely timeless and with SOUL.
I have not driven the Aston. The Bentley is boring, but practical. The Roma is terrible. It’s impossible to adjust any of the controls while driving and it has a rough ride and jerky throttle response. Additionally, in the Roma you always need intense concentration. It is impossible to relax in it. This disqualifies it from the grand tourer category.
The 911 Turbo S, drives much better than the Bentley and Ferrari. Your grandmother could produce a lap record in it. Its transmission and throttle response are perfect. The technology such as the 4wd, 4ws, and PDCC work in concert perfectly.
I can’t comment on the Aston, but the 911 Turbo S is a markedly better drive than the Bentley and Ferrari. However if you do need the practicality of usable back seats and bigger boot, get the Bentley.
Love the Bentley. Comfort and luxury.
I would go for the continental GT if you put it next to the other cars in the fleet it is logical. The GT3 for dynamics and attacking a twisty mountain road and the Bentley would be the ideal family grand tourer. The 360 is the classic sports car in the mix, well done there Sam! 👍
Nice cars but not really 4 seats - what proper 4 seaters are there? For 3 of those cars you might as well ditch the rear seats to get some storage space.
