UK Decision to Block Puberty Blockers for Minors Could Impact US

- New questions are emerging about controversial transgender medical experiments on minors in America after the United Kingdom reached a major decision on the issue.
States have been battling over the issue of restricting gender transition medicine and procedures for minors. Now the U.K'.s National Health Service has announced it will no longer prescribe puberty-blocking drugs for children. That decision banning puberty blockers for kids followed an independent review citing safety concerns and limited research on long-term effects.
The NHS concluded: "There is not enough evidence to support the safety or clinical effectiveness of puberty-suppressing hormones to make the treatment routinely available at this time.

I agree 💯 %, and the parents who pushed this mess on their children should be right along with the doctors who did this to innocent and naïve children. Those children had NOBODY looking out for their protection. They were surrounded and exploited by vulture like parents and physicians. Capping prices would utterly destroy development which all happens inside the U.S. Companies profit in the U.S. as a result of other countries capping a price, but those companies are still able to come to the U.S. and offset what they loose. WE NEED TO USE OUR ECONOMIC LEVERAGE ASAP.

I was a major tomboy but still also really liked developing into a full woman. I know there are people who find it distressing (for reasons I haven’t experienced or understand) but I would have been told I was mentally a boy these days because I loved soccer, X-men, boy clothes, and got along better with boys than girls. I have 8 beautiful children I created with my husband, and I am so so glad I didn’t grow up ruining that.

When I was 16 years old, in the '60s, I desperately wished I was a boy. Why? It's not that I thought I was in the wrong body. It was because it looked like a man's world to me and I resented it horribly. By the time I was 17, I just went on with my life. I can't imagine how my life would have been ruined if adults had told me, during that phase, that I could be a boy if I wanted. I would have trusted the adults, and I would have been badly betrayed.

When did children get to decide what they can do? And what happened to the fact the parents are supposed to protect their children from the world. Once they become an adult, they have control but children believe in unicorns are real and their brains are not developed enough to make those choices. We have an age limit on driving, drinking, voting, marriage, going to school and these types of procedures because children are not competent enough in their brain growth to make these important decisions and do these important things that require rational belief systems. These do not form till 18-27 and some even older.
Laws have made it legal. They even allow schools to give these without the parents permission or knowing about it. If parents interfere they can be jailed and lose parental rights permanently. It's a real war.

Exactly. A child’s brain is not mentally mature enough to understand the long term implications of the choices they make, which is why they need adults to guide them. A child at 13 isn’t thinking about the future, getting married, and having children. They have no way of knowing the full ramifications of having a procedure done to them that will forever impact their future, and take away their ability to start a family of their own, to produce their own offspring. What about the teenagers who have had their gènitaIia ßutchered, causing scar tissue and numbness, so they never know what it feels like to have an intimate relationship with their future spouse, and they never know what it is to have an 0rgàsm, all because the adults failed to protect them? If they lash out at the adults who betrayed them when they realize what’s been done to them, who can blame them? The full ramifications of this assault on children is yet to be seen. Just wait until all these people who were tricked as adults realize they were being used solely to fatten the pockets of doctors and activists, that they were exploited by adults who pretended to care in order to push a political agenda. That’s when there’s going to be mass retaliation by these people who were deceived by the adults who were supposed to protect them, but their parents used them for money and internet clout instead.
Parents no longer protect their children from the world. In fact they allow the world in by letting their kids have smart phones at an early age. What we are seeing today are the consequences of a generation of children raised by iPhones and social media instead of their parents. I hope things get better but I have a suspicious feeling that it will only get worse.

Since ever I can remember, I have desperately wanted to be a horse. As a child, I would canter about, tossing my mane and whinnying to all and sundry, looking for my favourite apples (Braeburn only, please). Being made to flush my best product away broke my equine heart. The doctors only laughed when I begged to transition. But the times they are a'changing....whoa, steady, steady there.

Letting a very unscientific political ideology determine if it is or is not approved for use sounds, to me, no different than the government deciding that LSD isn't illegal to possess or use if a very outspoken religious group uses it for ceremonial purposes.

As a possibly trans person I say this a win. Let them be kids and stop thinking a teen is a mature deep thinker who never flip flops on groups they identify with out of loneliness or delusion. Finally something is getting done, they DO know about the fall out from this treatment, many young adults are finding their voices and are speaking up about what was done to them as children. So many of them who were transitioned have so many regrets, but their biggest question is why, why did they not help me understand better as to what my body was going through, instead they were told that they were born in the wrong body and were pushed head on into the blockers and surgery. So many of them were bullied by the LBGTQ2+ activist because they did not want that information to come out they wanted to infect as many youth as they could.
Finally a government standing up for the parents rights to stop this madness from getting any more out of hand. There was a time children went to therapy over issues like this they were not given reinforcement into the illusion. So many of my gay friends have been shocked at what is happening to children today. When I was that age I was a right tomboy I was 13-14 when I stopped wearing boys cloths and started wearing girl clothes. I still wore my old clothes if I went to work with Dad you can’t work on a truck in a skirt it gets in the way.
Children need to have their social media removed until they are old enough to understand the difference between reality and make believe, but not only that it keeps them out of reach from the groomers that have infiltrated LBGTQ2+ groups they are the ones who have targeted so many if the youth today and somehow many of them have gotten into being able to teach these children.
The vetting of teachers need to be increased and they need to be in therapy before they are let lose on the children to insure that they are stable enough to teach the children

What does one expect when there's no parent around to teach them what they really need to be taught?
Yes, I get it that taking care of kids can be and IS indeed Hard Work, but ALL Parents' have a *Responsibility* to take care of their Own Children, and *NO* - technology is NOT and NEVER will be Your Child's parent. Little kids do NOT need phones nor technology unless in the case of a major emergency (e.g. calls and texts ONLY and that's it)-nothing else until they're older and much more mature to handle things or at least realize like: "hey that's not actually who I am like I thought I was when I was 5." or something like that. Little kids need their parents' time, attention, and love while having proper discipline methods & boundaries established. The boundaries is especially true for when they become teenagers. And curfews *need* to not only be set, but established and 100% followed through on for most teenagers out there. And if they can't follow the rules set by their parents', there will be non-abusive consequences (e.g. 16 year old's curfew is 10 pm on a weeknight, but they don't come home till say midnight & say they get caught). And let's say they were given 2 more chances like some might be and it was the same thing, then the curfew gets pushed back to 9 pm which is reasonable b/c they need to prove they can come home to their set curfew on time every time in order to be able to get a later curfew for those who want one. I understand midnight curfews as long as 1.) They're with a good group of friends, 2.) They better be responsible, and mature, be highly alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and 3.) Come home on time. And this is the exact type of stuff that needs to be established before they leave the house.

I'm 19. Grew up with a father and three older brothers and was very much a tomboy. I wanted to be a boy ever since I can remember until I was around 13. I'm so glad my parents just dismissed it and allowed me to grow into the woman I am today. I know people who weren't as lucky. I grew up in primary school with two other tomboys, one was autistic, both have now since transitioned in their teens, one getting a double mastectomy at 16 and another being put on hormones well before. It's disgusting how their parents and doctors have failed them
It beggars belief that “identifying as …” was sufficient to get started on hormone blockers. For minors, no less. It used to be that trans people had to go through a rigorous evaluation, and been given a positive diagnosis of gender dysphoria, before any medication or procedure was considered. And these are children. Even if they actually have gender dysphoria (very hard to determine in children), hormone blockers will stunt the development of their genitalia, leading to a more complex gender reassignment procedure with far less chance of a good outcome.
There are very strong medical as well as moral reasons to not get kids started on gender reassignment at a young age, even if they decide to go through with it later on. Glad to see the UK is making the right call. And I say that as someone who has been a strong supporter of trans rights for decades.

@@petervizzini4006 It is not a lie, it is just extremely rare. We don't need to always go to extremes. It is not all or nothing. People with this condition DO exist but no child should ever have anything permanent done to them like this. It is called having common sense and reasoning.

It's insane how some people still want to use puberty blockers even when confronted with the evidence of permanent and severe side affects. They also want to silence any detransitioners and bury their horrific story.
The fact that people want kids to undergo such foolishness. Is absolutely deplorable. If a child is too young to have a driver's license. Buy alcohol legally or live on their own. How is it even ethical to mess with something that's natural,that we all experienced growing up?

When these children are in their thirties and young adults and they realize the consequences of the decisions that have been thrust upon them they will blame their parents and the doctors
I recently debated someone on whether blockers are reversible. The person provided a lot of studies, but only as summary. The summaries turned out were written in extremely confusing ways, usually not clearly stating the age at which reversion was observed. We both digged deeper and it turned out that none of the studies the person presented were about teenagers being on blockers during or after the age of 14~15. Most studies are performed on early-onset puberty blockage, where medication is stopped just around the time when normal puberty is to set in, which - duh - has the highest chance of reversibility of the blockage.

People feel like if they change themselves fundamentally they will feel better. The real problem is lack of outlets in our world for people to feel like they belong and what they do matters.

They were given to the kids without the parents consent and for years everytime it was up for debate an a vote the socialists would waste time in parliament even one time they spent 3hours naming the pets they owned while kids were being abused with all these drugs and in many cases surgery

Seeing common sense prevail is a very rare but welcome occurrence these days. Its sheer madness that we need to celebrate when people of authority decide *not* to ruin a childs natural growth and development which causes numerous health problems because they like specific toys, colours, and / or clothing
This is literally common sense why are humans so ideologically driven.
My 5 year old boy has identified himself as a: car, a jet, a dog, a cat, a lamb, a train, a motorcycle. It honestly changes every other day. Ludicrous to make permanent decisions based on these whims of emotion.

Sadly you have got this story wrong, it is only the health service in England who is bringing in this ban. But they haven't banned in Scotland and Wales, these children will get referred to Scotland and Wales, basically to another region of the NHS in the UK.

well that's alway an option, if it not avalible in the UK, go to France, (same with say abortion, Ireland) or whereever it is .NHS England is not equal to NHS Scotland in terms of size, budget , it is far the more dominant service and Scotland has many issues regarding this and other aspects such as drug deaths.
Sadly Scotland is run by a party that is idealogically committed to this, is effectively a 1 party state and does things that are just contrary to England, because the SNP are a party built on their hatred of the English.
Thankfully most Scots don't agree with the SNP's line, and all it does is damage the SNP. When Scotland does'nt have the worst education results, worst health outcomes in Western europe, and far worse than England, they can maybe waste time on such rubbish, i suspect most Scots would prefer them to concentrate on actual issues

you don’t. I used to live in Wales and had an eye injury. When I was under going treatment I returned to England to live with my family, the NHS England refused to continue my treatment. I called the NHS, I’ve got told that there’s nothing they can do. Same as my disability test, I’ve got told that service unavailable in my area. I live in South London and they can’t even refer me to another part of London.

I really don’t think it should be allowed for anyone. It’s a terrible thing to do to your body and making it illegal is a good step in incentivizing people not to do such horrible things to themselves.
As someone who suffers from legit low T, the shortages and price hikes in testosterone supplements that were caused by this fad have been very financially and psychologically stressful.

Once these kids are grown, and they decide to do this, that's one thing (and I will pray for them), but children don't have the maturity or brain capacity for such a monumental decision. These kids need guidance, counseling, prayer, and parents who truly love them, and don't want to use them for relevance as social justice pawns.

This is a message to the younger generation who want to transition, WAIT!! I myself as a minor can assure you that you don’t know who you are or what you want yet. You’re still figuring that out. I’m seventeen, I’m trying to find out who I’m gonna be!! Also, do you know how terrible puberty blockers are for your developing bodies? There have been reports of minors who have taken puberty blockers getting liver cancer, kidney damage, hair loss, bone problems, stunted growth and not being able to SEXUALLY FUNCTION!!! Do you want that for your body? I would hope not.
I get in a way that you feel trapped in the wrong body. I at some point in my life wanted to be a boy cause I thought it was unfair that women have periods. But when I turned sixteen, not only did I realize how wonderful it is to be a woman, but that men have their own problems too! If you still want to transition, that’s fine. Just wait until your body is fully developed and you’re an adult. It’ll be safer that way.
I think it should be made illegal to have minors access puberty blockers because of the damage it does to their bodies. BAN IT!! Make it accessible to adults ONLY!!

I remember puberty. It was the most frustrating time of my life so far and I turned 70 last time around. I had all the usual feelings and thoughts plus some not so usual. What do I do about this in 1966/7? Who do I ask without being embarrassed?
Oh stuff it I will keep it to myself, thinks I, and have done ever since. It has not been fun. It is something that is still too embarrassing to talk to others about. Now it will never come out.
How people can talk about their feelings publicly is beyond me.
