My buddy has the thrunite and I have an olight. I thought his would be brighter just because of his lumen output but I guess like mentioned the olight with its tighter more focused beam it actually looks brighter than the thrunite. Both are good lights though can't go wrong either way

@@tonylopez5239 i now own both of these lights and they both have their advantages of brightness. If you are somewhere and need to see further and a light up a wider area(like in the woods at night)then the thru light is better due to its flood light effect and much wider range of light. But if your wanting to find something you dropped on the ground wanting more light focused in a smaller/tighter area then the olight has the advantage. I prefer the thrunite when camping ,fishing or any outdoor activity also the "unlimited" ramping of the brightness is a bonus while in the woods. But at work i have to work under cabinets,in attics, ect which sits the olights more focused beam better. Regardless which one you choose they are both insane for their size and are great fo in any situation but for my money the thrunite is my go to.

Great review. I’m sure glad I found your channel. I’m an Olight junkie. I buy their flashlights that I don’t even need. My wife carries the SR1 baton as well. If you hit it right, you can get the Olight for 48 bucks instead of 60. So for the same price, you can enjoy the superior product. IMHO of course

I work graveyard so i use my lights all the time and the best part is that the battery lasts a long time and i only need one cable and charger.

Those micro USB are such a weak spot. I can't tell you how manys times that has gone bad on heavy use items like phones etc. Love the magnet charge on Olight. I agree on the reflector down carry. But the fast and easy charge on the O is big for me. One big negative on the O that I didn't hear is that it needs a special battery but maybe I missed it.

I have found the olight s1r baton 2 to be perfect for me as a work light, I work in a fertiliser plant and have destroyed an imalent DN70 with micro usb charging purely because dust and acidic moisture gets in and shorts out everything so the magnetic charging is a must for me, secondly it fits perfect in a pocket without any discomfort ever and most importantly the clip and length of the light allows for it to fit straight onto the brim of a hard hat very securely, olight certainly hit a home run with their design of the s1r baton 2

The advantage of the Olight is that it can use a standard CR123 battery, so when camping and away from a power supply you can simply pop in a CR123 and you have a fully functional light. I've done this many times during an outing and having to recharge in the field does not make sense.

I think its just a redundancy issue. I have no idea how many micro usb cords I have but I have many and they're everywhere! I have some in the car, I have at least one in every pack, I have them in drawers, some plugged in ready to go on my desk, I have many grouped up in a zip lock bag thats stored away with other cables. Almost every piece of tech i have from cameras to electric shavers uses them. I have only the one OLight charging cable and if I happen to forget it or find myself in a bind without it I'm now limited to the battery charge I have left. That said, I edc the sr1ii but I have different flash lights in different packs because I simply cannot rely on that limitation.

Just found out about the Thrunite today. I've had the Olight for 6 months. Was about to buy the Thrunite because it's only $40 vs the $65 I paid for my Olight. However, the part of your video where you compared the brightness of the 2 lights together was extremely helpful . For me, and not to sound like some tactical junky, but the main reason I carry my Olight at night is to be able to disorient/blind somebody if ever in sticky situation . The Olight just looked way brighter on turbo in your video even though the Thrunite is listed at 1500 lumens-- way more than Olight. Just seems to me the Olight has much brighter white light.
Great video. Thanks. The Thrunite does seem like a great deal though!! And good EDC option.

I have owned both. I still own the S1R II (I gave the T1 to a friend). There are two issues with the T1. The first is that it is too floody. The problem with a floody light is that to get a given candela at a distance you need to use a higher setting, and this means reduced battery life. To walk and illuminate the road 25 feet in front of me, I had to have the T1 turned up much higher than the S1R II. This meat that I had to charge the battery more often. The second thing is related to the first. Not only do you not have to charge the S1R as often, but since it is soooo easy to charge, you are far more likely to simply charge it all the time, and the T1 used a Micro USB. Had they used a USB C type connector this would have been better but nothing is as good as the Olight magnetic charging. All of my flashlights are Olight because of the magnetic charging.

Something I think many people would find to be an important difference between the two is that the Olight's battery is not a standard 16340, but a proprietary battery with extra contacts. The onboard charging will not work with a standard 16340, and the proprietary battery cannot be charged in a standard external charger. The Thrunite's battery is a standard 18350.
The Olight uses a TIR optic, not a smooth reflector. The main reason for the difference in hotspot size is that the LED in the Thrunite has a larger light emitting area.

    *OLights are AWESOME!!!*
The clip position is extremely important to me. If I need to pull it out and use it quickly it’s just 👍. My M2R was adjustable and it really wasn’t A good thing. I love my Olights but my S1R2 got lost because it is so small and the magnet on the bottom stuck to my keys then dropped off outside my pocket. I’m sure that is what happened because I noticed it several times until I didn’t.
My M2R warrior stopped working after two years of very hard use and I thought it was just dead. Then after using it as an excuse to buy a S2R baton II, I cleaned it with Q tips and guess what? It works perfectly. Now it is my backup. I work with my hands and this thing has been through HELL; dropping it on concrete, banging it on stuff, dropping it in water, getting metal shavings on the magnet, playing with it constantly and still works perfect after two years with the same battery. I NEVER left the house without it...Awesome 😎 !

I still prefer the Klarus Mi1C with the convex lens for a EDC inspection light. Reason is it has no hot spot at all so when you are trying to read you do not have the glare. But i am not all that up to date on new lights if anyone knows the light i am talking about and knows a better option "with that type of convex beam/lens" please comment below.

I have an OLight Baton and its switch gave up in just a few presses - luckily, the distributor had it under warranty and had it replaced immediately (good form guys!). for the price & size, its fairly handy. but beware, the battery (rechargeable 123) does not serve you as long as you want it. i actually have 3 of OLight torches (2 of which are headlights) and they serve their purpose quite well. i also have the an assortment of surefires (the 1,000 Lm being the latest aside from the X300 Ultra) and i still prefer them for heavy-duty use (outdoors) since they were tried and tested thru time. though the X400 i had suddenly lost its laser (disappointed!) after a few rounds at the range. local dist doesn't repair so it was off to the scrap meat.

I cannot imagine the advantage of knowing that your battery life is somewhere between the wide range of 21% and 100%?? So the color indicator is letting you know that your battery could be almost 100% charged or then again it could be about to die out in the next several minutes. Comforting?🤔 hmm
This is a back-and-forth tough call for various reasons per individual. For those in absolutely no hurry to purchase either one of these but leaning towards the Olight, I would consider waiting for next generation to improve the runtimes. If for example they could get turbo up to five minutes and let’s say 600 lm up to maybe 30 minutes more or less in the same light it would be awesome.
Seeing the difference in magnet strength is one of those little things that can sway you one way or another.I definitely prefer a stronger magnet.I appreciate seeing that!

I HATE having to plug a wire in to recharge my lights. I carry a battery brick and an Olight cord. Just as easily as you carry a micro usb cord. I have plenty of cords because I have quite a few Olights. So it’s a no on that other brand. And I’ve tested one Olight for holding a static FULL charge for 6 months on the PL Mini Valkyrie. Left it on my Glock for 6 months in the truck and when I remembered I hadn’t charged it, I brought it in and slapped the magnet charger on it and the light was green. Still fully charged after sitting unused for 6 months, give or take a day or so. I was on a 6 month contract job which is why I know how long it sat locked in my truck lock box. What can I say? Haven’t bought a different brand of light in almost 2 years and don’t plan to. I have Olights stashed all over the place and one on all my ARs and pistols with rails. I also carry a Baton daily. I can't stand all the gadgetry about them. I just like a simple flashlight. And I don't like single electronic switched lights. To each his own I guess. For a little small light in the 16340 size, I like the Jetbeam Jet-II MK. I guess I'm old fashion and like the twistys and the tail cap switched lights. I like to have momentary action.
