Dang, for a rust bucket that Type B sounds really good! Shame the 1212 didn't go with it, but I think the B more than makes up for it... Awesome recording!
i would imagine that the 1212 was installed to replace the type B but the 1212 was either rendered inactive or dead and the type B had to come back into action. either that or they have different functions I.E. the 1212 is used for fire calls and the type B is used as a storm siren or vice versa
This is interesting! You know, that 1212 was part of Hamilton County's system after Fernald shut down? And so were the 1212s in Ross Township, which were replaced with T-128s in 2009, and originally in Hamilton County's system. But it looks to me like those were moved to Butler County's system
+Joseph Molter No that has nothing to do with the phase, I think the certain motor has a brake on it like the type of sentry siren that I can't think of
Edaan Friedman No we are both wrong, it is because it is a single phase motor. the start capacitor does something that makes the motor hiccup if you like
shodowhater As I stated highly unlikely as this siren is close to being a hundred years old no town would ever put up a siren that's already outdated when you could have bought a reliable Thunderbolt made in the 1950's. This siren was already outdated when the Thunderbolt came out.
It would've been better if the EOWS 1212 had a Voice message saying, "Attention all Citizens, the Tests are over, please return to your current places.".
A siren from the 1930's still sounding strong with a steady pitch without any fluctuation
They powered it with a different motor. Assuming because the regular motor is fukked
@@Asmith-1111 eventually the siren deserves a full restoration
This siren is from either 1922-1926 because this a 2nd generation type B
Dang, for a rust bucket that Type B sounds really good! Shame the 1212 didn't go with it, but I think the B more than makes up for it... Awesome recording!
Thanks! :) And yes, the B was, if anything, more exciting than the 1212. xD
The 1212 would have been cool. BUT he did get s model B so lol
Rusty but Trusty! Thanks for posting!
When 1212 sees a Vortex:
*how are ur collector rings doing?*
That's an odd way to power a siren. I'm assuming the regular motor is fucked.
beyond screwed
How are they powering it?
SlayerGaming_TV there is another motor on the side in the box with a long pole
Melrose, NY had temporarily rammed a pump motor onto their Thunderbolt

That is awesome and rare! Sounds awesome.
Start watching at 0:45 at the speed set to 2.
Perhaps the add-on motor was their way of making a 3-phase siren run on single-phase power?
Honestly, that siren is so old that the motor might be 2 phase, where there are 2 phases shifted 90 degrees.
Yes it was
I love the top covers
Sounds like a H.O.R super sirex siren but more quiet
Must've been loud directly under this low-mounted beast. Cool video!
Thanks man! :)
Ahh,Type B’s are sometimes my favorite.
Must be capacitor start, listen to the wind-down.
The sound of it recharging
It sounds like a Klaxon CS8 doing all-clear tone.
It has a chopper break lol that's so cool
It's the start capacitor in the motor recharging which loads the motor on wind down so it slows down faster
its sad to see it get replaced but atleased its getting replaced with a decent soundint eows siren this still sounds better tough
lightnindash 3804 the EOWS is disconnected
Is it a backup for the 1212
the eows has a broken horn
10 port?
Yes
Is the 1212 inactive
Yes
Sounds like if a STM 10 were to exist
Hmm, that is odd. Wonder if the original motor died?

Yup, that's in the description. xD
I don't think Ross township has any sirens after they removed 2 1212s
@@cin426 They have 3 T-128s now
@@carexpertandy are they in Hamilton or Butler counties system
@@cin426 They started off in Hamilton County’s system, but I think they may have been switched over to Butler’s
I thought that was a Denver Siren
Rusty but trusty
What's the box for
A 3 hp single phase motor
The wind down was kind of odd, how it suddenly dropped in pitch. Great video.
That's because Its single phase motor
+Joseph Molter No that has nothing to do with the phase, I think the certain motor has a brake on it like the type of sentry siren that I can't think of
It could be the bearings.
Maybe they are rusted.
Edaan Friedman
No we are both wrong, it is because it is a single phase motor. the start capacitor does something that makes the motor hiccup if you like
Centrifugal switch in the motor makes it do that.
What is that box to the right of the siren?
The motor powering the siren, the original motor is non functional.
Oh wow
We put that siren up there in 1983
James Sefton the electronic siren?
Highly unlikely as this would be one of Federal Signals first sirens.
Then when did you put up the 1212?
If was probably bought used from some town or another, and they installed it here in '83

What's that larger siren behind it?
Read the description it is an eows 1213
Typo eows 1212
Keaton0801 oh ok cool!
EOWS 1212
What happened to the EOWS 1212?!?
Its disconnected.
This thing totally sounds like an ATI but with a mechanical windup! Still probably louder than one too 😂
It would've been better if the EOWS 1212 had a Voice message saying, "Attention all Citizens, the Tests are over, please return to your current places.".
They can figure it out on their own.
please return to your current places? So don't move at all, because you are at your current place.
them model B'are so old, this one looks similar to the one I recorded
The type b may be for the firemen and the 1212 is for tornadoes
The 1212 is disconnected.
Federal electric was federal signals first name so this is one of their first sirens
Actually, before Federal Electric is was Federal Sign and Signal.
+4J25 oh yea sorry
+4J25 forgot about that
SHERLOCK MUTHAFUCKIN HOLMES!
No it wasn't. They were Federal Electric first, then Federal Sign and Signal, and finally, Federal Signal.
Bro recorded a 1212💀
Nice catch (how am I the 100th comment)
Idk
Look like I hear sirex
Sounds like a carter!
Too bad this siren didn't save Dorothy!
What's the purpose of the box thingy in front of the siren?
Thats where the motor is housed. The original motor is screwed up.
