The MT stands for “ maximum traction “ not mud terrain.

AT - All-Terrain
MT - Mud-Terrain
HT - Highway-Terrain
A Max Traction tire would be an irrelevant term because there are lots of different types of traction surfaces. Road tires will perform better on-road but off-road they become too slippery whereas an All-Terrain or Mud-Terrain will perform better off-road than on-road.
